Dragon Spirit

Chapter 8

"Where to begin…?" Shadow wondered aloud.

"Let's just start with when we went on our journey with the others to test our skills for leadership," Night suggested. The black dragon nodded, and took a deep breath before speaking.

"About 138 years ago, Night and I were born as twin brothers, direct descendants to the position of leader of our clan, Diamond Clan," he began. "Since there could only be one leader, though, we had to decide between the two of us who would become leader and who would become deputy."

"I was constantly tormented by my clan mates, all due to my unique silver armor, which they saw as a sign of bad luck and a bane to their existence," Night muttered bitterly. My gaze softened as I watched my poor partner try to reign in his emotions. "I'm the only one in our realm that has silver armor, and the first one to exist."

"So, because we didn't want to stir up any trouble in our clan, we agreed that I would become leader while Night would be my deputy," Shadow continued. "Anyway, when we turned 65, we went on our journey to prove ourselves as true leaders along with four other dragons, one from each of the other clans. Even though Night wasn't going to be a leader, he still wished to come along, something our mentor approved of completely.

"I wanted to prove to our clan that I was not something to be hated, and to show that I'm a force to be reckoned with," my partner murmured. "But, back to the story. After our ceremony granting us permission to go on this journey, we learned through a nightmare that powerful forces of darkness were after all six of us, Ishu being the most powerful of them. We traveled through the Dragon Realms, our home realm, our friends killing their respective force of darkness. By the time we reached Ishu, Shadow and I were ready, and through some tough ordeals, we managed to kill him, both of us nearly dying in the process."

"After everything, we returned home, and I became mated to Emerald Clan's leader, Kikoku," Shadow told us, swallowing hard before speaking again. "We had three young, one of which ended up turning to the darkness and bringing Ishu back to life again when he was 66 years old. His name was Kuragari. When he brought Ishu back, I was severely injured against a cliff side. Ishu abandoned his chase after me, thinking I was dead, but in all reality, I had shattered all of the bones in both of my wings and broken my left hind leg. It was an agonizingly slow recovery, and I had to remain in hiding in a cellar of our ally's home for 6 years. Finally, a stranger arrived at the castle of our ally, looking for Night and me."

"Her name was Shunketsu, and she wished to ally herself with us in the war against Ishu," Night jumped in. "She was half light dragon and half diamond armored dragon, but she claimed she didn't know her father. Later, after a few months of training, she shared with Shadow and me that she shared the same father as us: Naiya. Naiya was the second leader of Diamond Clan, and Ishu's son. Ishu had killed him before Shadow and I were even born. We were hurt that our father hadn't ever told us this before, considering we've seen him in many dreams before."

"Eventually, we accepted it, finished re-training ourselves for the war, and invaded Ishu's controlled area a year after his resurrection," Shadow said. "We had to fight him and Kuragari, but when Ishu was about to kill Shunketsu, Kuragari took the hit, sacrificing himself to protect our half-sister, who he didn't even know. Shunketsu, Night, and I teamed up and killed Ishu for what we thought was the last time, but he had been plotting to invade the human world and conquering it. The link to the human world destroyed our home realm, and everyone was killed except for Night and me. Obviously Ishu somehow managed to live. Anyway, we were turned into eggs and our memories were put into a dormant state until something or someone awakened them."

"And then you, Yamato, and you, Taichi, found us separately," Night added. "We were meant to be found by you two, and the way things have turned out is better than what we had expected. We would never have hatched had someone else found us, so we were fortunate. Though I suspect Naiya had helped guide us to you that night of the meteor shower."

"As long as you all met, that's what matters," Kyuubi chimed in.

"Kyuubi is right," Shadow nodded. "It's getting late, so we should all sleep. We'll head out in the morning, when it's light." Everyone nodded in agreement, and we all got ready to sleep. Taichi and I curled up together in our combined sleeping bag, and the brunette kissed me.

"Goodnight, Matt," he murmured against my lips. "I love you."

"Goodnight, Tai," I whispered. "I love you, too." And with that, we snuggled into the other's embrace and went to sleep.

X*X*X*X*X*X*X

I was woken the next morning by my partner gently shaking my left shoulder and whispering, "Yamato, wake up." My eyes opened, and I stared at Night for a few seconds before yawning widely and stretching.

"Good morning, Night," I mumbled tiredly. I felt Taichi stir beside me, and shifted in his arms to kiss him softly on the lips. He didn't respond right away, but then kissed me back after about two seconds. The brunette rolled onto and hovered over me as we kissed, and then he pulled back, grinning down at me.

"Well good morning, Yama," he murmured, kissing my nose and making me blush.

"'Yama?'" I repeated, quirking a brow. "Really, Tai?"

"Yup. You're my Yama, and no one else's," my boyfriend smirked.

"Seems I didn't have to wake you after all, Taichi," Shadow chuckled from my right. Tai smiled before rolling off of me, and then looked at his partner.

"Are Joshua and Neku awake already?" he asked.

"Yes, they went out with Kyuubi and Kidaté to search for some dragon fruit," Night answered. "We'll need it for energy for the fight against Ishu."

"What's so special about dragon fruit, though?" I asked. "I've never seen you eat it before, Night."

"Because I didn't regain my memory back then, so I didn't know about it," the silver dragon pointed out.

"True," I nodded. "What does it do for you, though?"

"Dragon fruit provides us with extra stamina and energy for travel and fighting. We would always eat some before journeys and battles," Shadow told me. Night glared at him slightly in a playful manner before smirking evilly and tackling his brother, pinning him completely to the ground.

"Ha! Pinned ya~" he grinned. "You never learn, do you?"

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," the black dragon sighed, smiling slightly. Night let him up and sat back with a smug look, and then the two dragons perked up when they heard something.

"I guess Joshua and Neku are back with Kyuubi and Kidaté," I said, and sure enough, the ginger and ashen blonde walked in with their partners, both of them carrying some dragon fruit in their arms.

"Hey guys," Neku greeted, handing out dragon fruit to each of us.

"I'm glad to see you're all finally awake," Joshua added. "Looks like Ishu's getting ready to try and begin his takeover of the human world."

"What?!" I yelped, making Night and Shadow jump slightly.

"Yes, the sky is starting to turn blood red, and when Kidaté and I did some investigating, we saw that there's an army of skeletal dragons gliding about behind a barrier preventing entry to our world so they don't invade early," the ashen blonde explained.

"How big was the army?" Tai inquired nervously.

"Approximately in the hundreds," Kidaté answered, flicking her tail a bit. "We'll have a lot of fighting ahead of us, but we can handle it, I know it."

"A lot of fighting is an understatement," Kyuubi remarked. "But you're right. With all of us together, we'll clear the way to Ishu."

"So, what's the plan?" I asked the pair.

"Kyuubi, Kidaté, Joshua, and I will clear a path for you four to get to Ishu, seeing as you'll need all of your strength when fighting against him," Neku replied. "He's a tough dragon, after all."

"You're right, especially considering he's one of the five dragons who created the Dragon Realms," Night nodded. "Thank you for helping clear the way."

"Of course, Night," Joshua smiled slightly. "We want to save this world as much as you do." A sudden explosion outside shook the temple viciously, and we staggered as we all tried to keep our footing.

"What the fuck was that?!" Taichi wailed as he held me close.

"Sounds like Ishu's army has begun its attack," Kyuubi growled. Flicking his feline-like blue eyes to glance at Neku, he added, "We need to get out there and stop them before they reach civilization, and quickly."

"Then let's go!" Kidaté agreed hurriedly. Joshua quickly climbed onto his Pegasus with ease, and then Kyuubi jumped into the air from Neku's shoulder. In a burst of flames in midair, the small fox transformed into a much larger form of himself, but with longer claws and fangs, a ring of thick fur around his neck, and flames around his paws. Once the transformation was complete, Neku climbed onto his fox's back and gripped Kyuubi's neck fur firmly.

"We'll send a signal once you guys can head out to Ishu, okay?" Joshua told us. "By that time, the army will have been mostly cleared out, enough so that you four can make your way through."

"Thank you again, Joshua and Neku. I… Just be careful out there, okay?" I murmured, and they smirked.

"Don't worry too much about us, Yamato," Neku chuckled. "We'll be fine. Just worry about yourselves and focus on getting out alive."

"Thanks, we will," I smiled slightly, and Tai wrapped his arm gently around my waist.

"We'll see you after everything is over!" Joshua called as the pair flew away on their partners. Once they were out of sight, Tai kissed my temple lightly before pulling away and sitting down near the dim fire pit. I sat close next to him, leaning against his shoulder.

"I'm worried about them, Tai," I murmured after a few minutes of listening to the explosions and crashes of thunder and lightning outside.

"Don't be," he said, pulling me closer. "In the short time that I've gotten to know them, I've learned that they know what they're doing. Besides that, they've got Kyuubi and Kidaté on their side to help them."

"Taichi is right," Shadow smiled at me as Night curled up against my thigh. "They seem like they can handle themselves."

"And you're both right in saying that," the silver dragon nodded. "In all the time Yamato and I have been friends with them, we've learned they can handle themselves pretty damn well."

"I know, but this is so huge, I just can't help but worry," I sighed. Suddenly, a pale blue flame in the shape of a tiny fox darted into the temple, flaring brightly before vanishing as another explosion shook the building, sending rocks crashing to the ground around us. "That's the signal. Let's go." I stood with Taichi, and our dragon partners grew in size so we could ride on their backs. Once we climbed onto their backs, the two dragons spread their wings and took off into the air, flying out of the temple.

The brunette and I stared in shock as we flew past several charred and destroyed remains of Ishu's army, but when some remaining ones tried to attack us, they scattered when a huge beam of light energy shot down at them from the sky.

"Keep going!" Joshua shouted at us as he flew past on Kidaté. Our partners nodded, and continued on, quickly making their way through the clouds and towards something that resembled a blood-red portal. I swallowed nervously, but when I focused on Night's calm breathing, my racing heart slowed considerably to a steady rhythm. I glanced at Tai as we closed in on the portal, and noticed he was also watching me. We gazed at each other, terrified of losing each other, but we both knew we had to do this.

"We're entering the portal to Ishu now, guys," Night informed us, and my boyfriend and I looked ahead as we went through the portal. Once through, the two dragons landed softly on the ground, and began to walk along with us still on their backs. Several minutes passed, and then we saw a dim red light at the end of the tunnel.

"Is that…where Ishu is?" Taichi asked softly.

"Yes, he's in that chamber," Shadow answered. "Be prepared, you two. I don't know if he's got anything planned, but be on guard."

We soon entered the chamber, where Ishu was lying down on a gigantic stone slab, watching us. He was humongous, even while lying down, his large, serpentine head reaching up at least 52 feet. The giant black dragon stood, now standing 66 feet tall, and flicked the tip of his spiked tail, sending several huge black spikes at us. Shadow and Night darted away, dodging the attack, and the spikes stuck in the ground in front of the entrance, blocking the way out of the chamber.

"Now you're going to die, and there's no escaping this fight," Ishu rumbled, opening his wings to spread them to their full 132 feet.

"We weren't planning on trying to escape, Ishu," Night spat venomously. "We plan on killing you and ending this once and for all."

"And we won't die, either, no matter what you think," Shadow added. "Besides, we've got our partners and friends on our side, which is all we need to win this fight."

"I don't care about your so-called 'friends'! You will all perish in the darkness!" Ishu roared, and then fired a black fireball at us. Shadow dashed away as Tai clung to his partner's back, but Night stood his ground and shot a powerful jet of silver flames as a counterattack. I tightened my grip on the silver dragon's armor, watching with wide blue eyes as the pitch black fireball exploded when it made contact with the silver flames. Narrowing my eyes and whipping out my katana blades and spinning them in a quick loop, I gently dug my heels into Night's sides, and he took the hint, spreading his wings and leaping into the air. Shadow and Taichi followed after us, the brunette unsheathing his own katana blade and holding it steady as Shadow flew.

'Yamato, Taichi, hold on tight and get ready to strike at his eyes,' Night thought to us, so I dug my knees into his ribs slightly to hold on, and prepared to strike at Ishu. Suddenly, my partner whipped around in midair, Shadow following closely behind, and the two dragons spun until they were upside down above Ishu's head. Tai and I dropped down onto the malevolent dragon's face, and then slashed at his eyes before he could swipe at us. As soon as I dug my katanas into the soft, weak flesh of his left eye, the gigantic black dragon bellowed with pain. Ishu shut his eyes from the pain of getting stabbed in the eyes, and shrieked from it as my katanas dug into his eyelid. I glanced at Taichi, and saw he was driving his katana deeper into Ishu's right eye, causing the dragon even more pain. Suddenly, he jerked back, making my katanas tear into his eye more. Next thing I knew, he was getting ready to swat us away from his face, but then a pair of blasts of light exploded against his back, making him roar in agony.

"Yamato!"

"Taichi!"

Night and Shadow shouted for us in unison, and they swiftly flew over and grabbed us, flying away while we slung ourselves back onto their backs.

"Excellent job, Yamato! That should help," Night told me, and I patted his neck in acknowledgement as we flew. We continued dealing attacks to Ishu, attacking with Night's and Shadow's claws, fangs, and magic, and Tai and my katanas.

Out of nowhere, there was an explosion of darkness from Ishu, knocking all four of us out of the air and we landed heavily on the ground. Waves of pure dark power rolled from the malicious black dragon as we struggled to our feet. I felt like I was being drained as I tried to stand, staggering as I stood up properly. I risked a glance at my boyfriend as I kept my guard up, and noticed he was gasping for air, struggling to breathe.

"What's…going on?" I grunted, wincing as something constricted in my chest. Night and Shadow looked at us, and then at each other, seeming nervous.

"Ishu is draining the life force out of you both!" Shadow yelped.

"He can only drain life force from mortals, and since Shadow and I are immortal, we're not affected," Night growled, glaring heavily at Ishu.

"We need to somehow get you two out of here before he kills you both," Shadow said urgently.

"No," Taichi and I replied firmly with a quick, determined look at the other.

"We need to kill Ishu, and we can't give up," Tai told them.

"If we don't finish this now, it will never end, and the human world will be destroyed," I agreed, and the two dragons looked at each other briefly before nodding.

"All right, let's finish this!" the brothers snarled, and hoisted us onto their backs before launching themselves into the air. We flew at Ishu, fighting the waves of darkness that rolled from him, and tried to attack, but Ishu slammed his tail into Night and Shadow, smashing us all into the wall.

We slid to the ground, and I found I couldn't move. I could open my eyes, but I couldn't move any other part of my body otherwise.

"Yamato!" Night shrieked, panicked, and darted to my side. Shadow carried Taichi over, carefully placing him next to me.

"Night…I…can't…move…" I breathed, and he whimpered softly as he pressed his head gently against my chest.

"Brother, he's taken too much of their life energy… It's too late to save them," Shadow murmured.

"Don't…worry…guys…" Tai whispered. "You can…finish this…once and…for all…"

"But—" Shadow started to protest, but Taichi gave a small shake of his head.

"Goodbye, Shadow…" the brunette mumbled weakly, and closed his eyes, his breathing stopping.

"Bye…Night," I barely uttered, and then everything faded away as I closed my eyes.

X*X(Third Person POV)X*X

Night howled with emotional agony as his best friend, his partner, was taken from him. Shadow cried out as well, feeling his heart break as he lost his best friend, too.

"ISHU!" Night screamed, glaring with pure, unveiled hatred at his grandfather. "YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS!"

"Night, calm yourself, or else your rage won't allow us to win," Shadow hissed at his brother.

'There's a way to bring your friends back, my sons,' a familiar voice said in the twins' minds.

"Naiya?!" Shadow gasped quietly.

"You mean we can have Yamato and Taichi live again?" the silver dragon breathed in shock.

'Yes, it's possible, but only if you give your life energy to them,' Naiya told them. 'You will die, but they will gain your powers, and your immortality. They will still be able to kill Ishu. Act quickly, or else it will be too late…' Their father's voice faded from their minds like mist, and the brothers gazed at each other, knowing what they had to do.

"You ready for this, Shadow?" Night asked, remembering the last time they experienced death.

"I am, Night. Anything for Taichi and Yamato," Shadow smiled, but his expression and tone were bittersweet. They would never be able to see their partners after this, but it would be worth it.

The two dragons stood before their respective partners, glancing at each other briefly before beginning to channel their immortal life energy into their best friends. Ishu, still on his power trip, was still too focused on draining the life force out of every living thing in the human world to pay any attention to the brothers. The two humans began to glow faintly with a pale blue light as they were given life energy, the glow becoming brighter as more was transferred to them. Wings began to grow from their backs, and they each grew a tail.

It was only once Night and Shadow felt completely drained of their life energy that they stopped, barely able to move. Taichi's and Yamato's eyes opened, the glow shining in their eyes, and then dimmed to their normal eye colors.

"Yamato, you're alive… Thank gods…" Night mumbled, giving a faint smile as the blonde gazed at the silver dragon.

"Night…? What happened?" Yamato asked as Taichi watched.

"We gave you each our life energy so you could live and defeat Ishu in our place," Shadow explained weakly.

"What?! Why?!" Taichi gasped, catching Shadow as the small black dragon fell.

"We had to. We didn't want to live for the rest of eternity knowing it was our fault that you had died, and we want you both to live together, happy," Night murmured.

"Night… Will we ever see each other again?" the blonde asked, holding his partner close to his chest.

"I don't know, but just remember this: In your hearts, we'll always reside there," the silver dragon whispered.

"I promise, I will," Yamato whimpered, tears forming in his eyes as Night's body faded into a small shimmer that disappeared.

"Do you promise, too, Taichi?" Shadow asked softly of the brunette.

"Of course, Shadow, I promise," Taichi murmured, and then Shadow's body faded into a small shimmer, too, disappearing after a few seconds.

X*X(Yamato's POV)X*X

"Yama?"

"Yes, Tai?"

"Let's end this, once and for all," my boyfriend growled, the noise coming out sounding a lot like Shadow's growls. I growled in a similar manner to Night, and felt something move around my backside. Standing and looking behind me, I gasped when I realized I had gained a silver tail and a pair of slender silver wings when Night had given me his life energy. Looking at Tai, I saw he also had wings and a tail, but his were black, like Shadow's.

"Tai, we gained physical traits from them!" I yelped, and then my gaze hardened as I glared at Ishu. "If we gained their physical traits, we should be able to use their magic, too! Come on, Chi, let's kill him!"

"'Chi?'" the brunette repeated, amused, as he stood up next to me.

"You call me Yama, so I'll call you Chi," I smirked, and then spread my new wings and launched myself into the air, Tai close behind me. Whipping out my katanas, I summoned my magic to me, and fired a blast of lightning at the giant dragon from the ends of the blades. Taichi copied me, shooting a large fireball at Ishu. The malicious beast roared in pain, and then snarled at us.

"Fools! You shall die this time for good!" he bellowed, and swiped at us with his claws.

"Go up!" Tai yelled, and we flapped our wings to gain altitude. We narrowly dodged Ishu's claws, and I used my tail, performing a midair flip, to whip his claws away. Ishu growled in annoyance, and then released another explosion of darkness. Taichi and I swiftly shielded ourselves with barriers of light, which deflected the dark waves back at him, exploding as soon as they hit him.

"You'll pay for that!" Ishu shrieked, and snapped his wings open wide, attempting to knock us out of the air.

"Tai! Hit his wings!" I shouted, and unleashed a barrage of ice spears, fiery arrows, and lightning bolts at his wings. Tai shot a series of fireballs and streams of water at them as well, and the combination of attacks pierced multiple holes in his wings, making him cry out in pain.

"You shall all perish within my darkness!" the giant black dragon roared, and his bloodied eyes glowed with a deep red light, and tendrils of pure darkness wrapped around him. Dark waves pulsed from his body, crashing into the walls of the chamber. Taichi and I weaved around them, flying about the chamber as we dodged the waves.

"How do we stop him now, Matt?" Tai asked as he flew away from another wave.

"We'll use our light!" I cried out, and grasped his hand firmly before saying, "We need to attack together!" The brunette nodded with a determined expression, and we charged up light magic, focusing on it from our hearts.

"All will fall beneath my might!" Ishu boomed.

"Not now, not in this lifetime, not ever!" Taichi and I declared, hovering in the air before Ishu and releasing our combined light magic. As soon as the beams of light struck him, they pierced through his chest. Ishu screamed and roared in pure agony, and when the light dissipated, the giant malevolent beast's now-sizzling dead body fell over, smashing onto the ground. The resulting shockwave made the chamber shake, and rocks from the ceiling began to fall all around us.

"Come on, Yama, let's get out of here!" Tai shouted over the rumbling of the chamber collapsing. He blasted a hole in the crumbling wall, and we flew out, making our way back to the human world and out of Doom's Divide. As we glided along, I reached out and gently took Taichi's hand in mine. He gave me a soft smile in return.

"Guys! Down here!" Neku's voice shouted from below. Joshua, Kidaté, Neku, and Kyuubi were standing in a small forest clearing down on the ground. Tai and I landed in front of them, and our friends stared at us, shocked, as we folded our wings.

"What happened to you two?" Joshua demanded. "And better yet, where are Night and Shadow?" My boyfriend and I looked at each other, and then gestured to our friends to sit down.

"It's kind of hard to explain, but we'll try," Taichi told them.

"Basically, Ishu drained Tai and my life force, killing us, but I guess Night and Shadow decided to sacrifice themselves to save us and everyone else by giving us their life energy," I explained.

"When they did so, they gave us their physical traits and abilities," Tai continued. "But they also died, promising that they would always be in our hearts…"

"Oh gods, I'm so sorry, guys," Neku murmured, his own pale blue eyes wide with shock. Joshua hugged me briefly, and then hugged Taichi as well before stepping back.

"I'm sorry about your loss, both of you," Joshua sighed. "But they're right; they'll always remain in your hearts."

"On the bright side, though, everything is safe. We managed to destroy Ishu's army," Neku informed us. Looking them over, I noticed how Neku's and Joshua's clothes were torn and tattered in places, with a few singe marks here and there. Both of them had some cuts and scrapes on their arms and face, too.

"Let's head back to my place. We can talk more there and treat our wounds there," Joshua suggested, and we all nodded in agreement.

"Sounds good," Neku agreed, and then slung himself onto Kyuubi's back. Joshua climbed onto Kidaté's back, and Tai and I spread our wings before following them back to the edge of town, where Joshua and Neku lived.

While Joshua and Neku cleaned their wounds and bandaged those that needed them, Taichi and I curled up together on the couch, feeling exhausted from the recent events. As I started to fall asleep, Joshua came over, gently shaking me awake.

"Come on, you two can sleep in the guest room," he whispered, and helped Tai to his feet while Neku assisted me in going up the stairs to the guest room. Once we were placed on the bed, they tossed a warm comforter over us, and then turned off the light before leaving. I snuggled closer to the slumbering brunette, sighing in content as his body warmth spread over me, and then closed my eyes before nuzzling his neck and going to sleep.

X*X(2 Years Later)X*X

It had been a little over two years since Night and Shadow had sacrificed their lives to save everyone, and things had been going well in the human world since then. Unfortunately, Taichi and I hadn't had much contact with humans since then, only occasionally visiting his parents and Joshua and Neku. Yes, he had introduced me to his parents. I sympathized with him when he told me that he didn't want them to believe he had died on his adventure, so shortly after the adventure had ended and the prophecy was fulfilled, we travelled to his home town, sneaking our way to his family's home at dawn so no one would see us.

His parents were stunned, to say the least, when they saw his wings and tail, and even more so when they met me and saw my own. They were both very happy to know that he was okay, and that everything went okay, with the exception of losing our partners. They soon came to like me, and understood completely when we informed them of our plan to live in Joshua's private vacation home in the mountains. All they wanted was for their son to be happy, and to be able to see us both occasionally. We promised them we would stop by once a month.

As for how it came to be that Tai and I would live in Joshua's mountain vacation home… He made us. We had nowhere else to go, so he made us live there. I honestly don't even know how that happened, but I'm not complaining. Besides, it just meant that Taichi and I could become a proper couple while living in privacy. And I couldn't be happier, but I still sometimes wish Night were here to witness it for himself.

"Yama?" Tai said, coming over to wrap his arms loosely around my shoulders while I sat in bed, lost in thought.

"Hey you," I smiled softly, kissing him. He kissed me back eagerly, nibbling at my bottom lip.

"I want you, Yama," he breathed against my lips.

"But we just had sex a few hours ago, Chi!" I whined, pouting.

"I don't care. I want you so badly, Yama," he purred, leaning over me and kissing my neck gently. I shivered lightly from the sensation, but pushed him away gently anyway.

"No, Chi. My ass still hurts from earlier. Besides, I need a shower," I growled firmly, starting to get up so I could get in the shower. As I headed to the bathroom, I yelped as Taichi suddenly snared me by the ankle with his tail, bringing me back to the bed. "Tai! I said no!"

"Too bad. Your ass is mine," he grinned deviously, and I gulped nervously.

"But Chi!" I protested, pushing lightly against his chest.

"No buts. Except for yours. Like I said, your ass is mine," he smirked, kissing me hungrily. When his tongue brushed against my bottom lip, I parted my lips slightly, allowing him entry. I felt more than heard him groan into my mouth as he tasted me, and I whimpered as I grasped him by the shoulders and pulled him closer, needing more contact. We soon broke apart, panting slightly.

"I knew you wanted this," the brunette chuckled darkly, nipping at my neck.

"Sh-shut up…" I stuttered with a weak glare, giving soft gasps as he began to trail kisses down my bare chest, nipping and licking occasionally. My boyfriend and I had had sex only a few hours ago, and I had woken up shortly before he had rejoined me in the bedroom, so I was still naked from our earlier activities. Apparently, though, Tai had put on a pair of boxers when he had gotten up. Those needed to come off now. I tugged at the offending article of clothing, growling impatiently.

"Hurry, Chi," I snapped. "I want you in me, now."

"Ha, I knew you wanted this," Taichi snickered, but removed his boxers anyway, revealing his rock hard dick. I was already half hard, but when I saw Tai's fully erect cock, I swear, my dick became completely hard.

"Damn, you really want me, huh, Chi?" I teased with a breathy laugh.

"'Course I do, Yama. I just can't keep my hands off of you," he grinned cheekily. "Or rather, I can't keep my dick out of you." I blushed a deep crimson at his words.

"Shut up and just fuck me already, pervert!" I hissed, making him laugh loudly.

"You tell me to fuck you, and then call ME the pervert?" he smirked. I smacked his shoulder lightly, pouting, but then he kissed me hotly. "Don't pout, it makes me want to pound you into the mattress more," he breathed when we parted for air, which made me blush again.

"But you're right; we do need to pick up the pace a bit~" he purred, lowering his head and kissing, nipping, and licking my neck and collarbone. I gave a small moan as he trailed those kisses further down until he reached my crotch. Tai kissed the tip of my erect member, and then fished out the bottle of lube from the bedside table drawer. The brunette slicked up three of his fingers, and then, without hesitating, stuck the first one into my entrance. I moaned softly as he moved his finger in and out, and then whined quietly when he added the second finger, followed quickly by the third. I hissed as he stretched me widely, scissoring my entrance, causing me to tighten my grip in his wild mane of hair.

"Easy, Yama, I'm almost done prepping you," Taichi murmured, kissing the head of my erection again and making me gasp. Finally, he removed his fingers, drawing a whimper from me. I watched, shivering lightly with sexual tension, as Tai coated his cock with lube.

"Come on, Chi," I whined. "Hurry!" I needed him in me pretty much five minutes ago.

"I'm going, Yama," he smirked, and then positioned himself at my entrance. "Ready?" he whispered.

"I've been ready," I breathed, nuzzling my face into his neck. At that, my lover pushed into me, sheathing himself within me easily from all the lube. He waited patiently for me to adjust to the mass filling me… And by waiting patiently, I mean he remained still for all of three seconds before starting to thrust. But they were small, slow thrusts, which allowed me to adjust even more, but then I growled and bit down hard on his neck.

"Faster, Chi," I hissed. I heard and felt a dark chuckle from Taichi before he suddenly almost completely pulled out and then slammed back into me, somehow managing to hit my prostate dead on with that first hard thrust. I cried out with ecstasy, my toes curling from the waves of pleasure that washed over me with each and every thrust from the brunette.

Tai picked up a swift, rough pace, abusing my prostate, and making me moan and mewl loudly and incessantly. I dug my nails into the heated skin of his back, between his wings, and dragged them down, causing him to growl possessively, and he bit down harshly on my collarbone, sucking and licking at the bitten spot. When he did that, I gave a pained yet pleasured cry. Upon feeling him smirk against my skin, I wrapped my legs around his hips, changing the angle of his thrusts drastically, and increasing the pleasure just as much. The brunette gasped as I moved, but then grinned wickedly at me before thrusting even faster and rougher than before.

"You like to play dirty, don't you, Yama?" Taichi panted in my ear, licking the outer shell and tearing a loud moan from my throat.

"Only…only when y-you do," I stammered, but then gave a choked moan as my boyfriend reached between us and began to stroke at my leaking member. My climax was almost upon us when I managed to choke out, "Chi…I-I'm g-gonna—" He kissed me passionately, effectively cutting me off.

"Let's cum together," he breathed against my lips, but all I could do was nod in response, seeing as I was too busy moaning from him fucking my brains out. Finally, I came with a pure, unmasked, and pleasured scream, my cum splashing all over Tai's hand and both of our stomachs. I felt Taichi shudder heavily as he came, too, spilling his white hot seed inside of me.

Tai shivered lightly while trying to catch his breath, and then tilted my hips slightly, pulling out. He gently wrapped his arms around me, and then enveloped me in his wings. We kissed each other gently on the lips, and when we parted, the brunette was smiling softly at me. I gave a small smile in return, snuggling into his embrace.

"I told you, your ass is mine, and I claimed it once again," Taichi chuckled, and I blushed before shoving his shoulder lightly.

"Don't start, pervert," I muttered, rolling my eyes at him. We laughed a bit together, and then I cuddled closer to his chest. Sobering up, I asked my boyfriend, "Chi, do you think we'll ever see them again?" He seemed to know what I was talking about, and nodded.

"I'm sure we will, someday," he murmured, and then perked up. "I heard from Joshua earlier, though."

"Oh? What did he say?" I questioned, a little more alert now.

"He said there's supposed to be a meteor shower tonight," the brunette grinned. "And my parents told me during the last meteor shower that if you make a wish during a meteor shower, then your wish will come true. But only if you don't tell anyone."

"That's awesome," I smiled, my eyelids starting to drift closed. Tai chuckled again, kissing me softly on the lips once more.

"Go to sleep, Yama," he whispered, holding me closer. "I'll wake you up when the meteor shower starts. I love you, Yama."

"Love you, too, Chi…" I mumbled, falling asleep in his arms.

"Yama, wake up, it's starting!" Taichi's voice broke through my sleep, and I opened my eyes, registering what he'd just said.

"Holy shit! Really?!" I yelped, starting to scramble out of bed.

"Yes, really! Now come on!" the brunette grinned, and we hopped out of the window, flying up to the roof, where we settled down next to each other to watch the meteor shower. Tai wrapped one wing around me, and then pulled me closer with one arm. We smiled at each other, and then gazed at the sky, watching the meteors shoot by overhead. When they started to become less, though, I closed my eyes and made my wish.

'I wish for Night to come back for me, and Shadow to come back for Taichi,' I thought to myself. Eventually, the meteor shower ended, the last one twinkling brightly as it went by.

"Let's get back to bed, Yama," Taichi murmured, and we glided back inside, heading straight to bed and going back to sleep.

When I woke up, I sat up slowly, allowing the sheets to pool around my waist. I realized Tai wasn't in bed with me, so I decided to take a quick shower before he could lure me back into bed again. Once clean and dry, I headed to the dresser, pulling on my normal attire of a sleeveless hooded shirt, a pair of black boxers, a pair of deep blue pants, and then slipped on my shoes before heading out to the kitchen, where I hoped my lover would be.

I was proven correct when I walked out there and spotted Taichi lying on his back in the bay window, his eyes closed. Silently, with an evil smirk on my lips, I snuck over to him, and then pounced on him when I was close enough.

"WAH!" he yelped, thrashing underneath me, and then stopped when he realized it was me. "Matt! You little sneak!"

"Sorry, Tai, couldn't resist," I laughed, getting off of him. We laughed together, but then he tackled me to the floor, pinning me and kissing my nose lightly.

"Sorry, Matt, couldn't resist," he teased, and then we kissed passionately. We parted for air, and then paused when we sensed something outside at the river. Something was drawing us outside, so we both got up and, with a slight feeling of déjà vu, headed to the river.

"Tai, do you think it's them?" I asked softly as we walked to the flowing water.

"Let's not keep our hopes too high, Matt," he replied quietly, but there was still a hopeful look on the brunette's face.

When we got there, I detected a feeling of warmth coming from a hollow in a tree's roots that the river flowed through, and when I got close, I could hear a faint clicking from inside the hollow. Tai followed me, and then I heard two clicking sounds, one sounding like whatever was inside was knocking gently against the inside of the tree, and the other sounding as though it was tapping against something similar.

Taichi and I approached the hollow, and then looked inside, finding a silver egg and a black egg trapped amongst the roots. Carefully, we pulled out the eggs, my boyfriend holding the black one and me holding the silver one.

"Let's take them home," Tai murmured, and we quickly flew back to the house. As soon as we got inside, I felt a familiar warmth in my heart, just like last time, and then both of the eggs started to glow and shake. Immediately, Taichi and I placed them on the kitchen counter. When the bright glow faded, the eggs were gone, and Night and Shadow sat on the countertop. The two hatchlings certainly looked as young as last time, but they remembered what had happened. I could tell by the looks in their eyes.

"Night?"

"Shadow?"

Tai and I spoke at the same time, reaching out to our respective partners.

"We're back, Taichi and Yamato," they said in unison, and then I grabbed Night, holding him close to my heart and wrapping my wings around us. I noticed that Taichi had done the same thing with Shadow, and the brothers purred with happiness at being reunited with us.

"I'm so happy you're back…" I whispered, tears flowing freely down my cheeks as Night cuddled into my chest.

"I'm happy that you're happy, and that I'm back," he smiled up at me. "I missed you, Yamato."

"We all missed each other," Shadow spoke up from Tai's arms, smiling brightly.

Finally, we let our best friends hop onto the counter, and Taichi held me close, kissing me and then breathing against my lips, "I knew they would come back to us eventually, no matter how long it took. I love you, Yama."

"I love you, too, Chi," I murmured, and sighed as I realized none of this could have happened without our dragon spirit.
