hello guys! i am sorry for the lack of updates on both of my current stories, my muse suffers from depression just as much as i do but i might just get back on track. this chapter is dedicated to the one triggering my urge to write again. you know who you are ;)

Reggi sat in her little hide out, waiting for Mac to return. Or maybe, she should just go back. Devon would be mad. It wasn't very nice of her, just leaving like that, was it? Devon saved her...STOP! Her long forgotten voice of strength came back to the surface, just as it had back in the cave with Mac. Sure, this plan was nuts but Mac promised he wouldn't hurt Devon. Grabbing her head, pulling her head, she tried to stay in reality. For too long now, she'd been in state of dream. If was clear that her mind had tried to protect herself and now, fury raged. And fear. And pain. Her whole body started shaking, digging her nails into her scalp, she screamed. Over and over again as her mind flashed back.

"Mac...wait" she took a careful step forward. He turned around, his face a mask of menace and amusement. "What? Ain't go time for ya shit. Gotta get golden boy" "I...i...I want..." she mumbled, trying to find word. Taking a big step forward, he grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her "YOU WANT WHAT!?" Whimpering, she managed to get the words out "Help me" Still not letting go of her, he studied her face. For a long time, they just stood there like this, Mac clearly mulling this over. Taking a heart, she wrapped her hands around his wrists on her shoulders and slowly pulled them away while her eyes carefully met his. "Ya scared" he finally said. "Ye...yes" "But ya comin' back" he smirked. It took a few seconds for her to realized what he was talking about and she simply nodded. "Well, ain't that funny. Here's the deal: ya do what I say, when I say. Fuck it up, and I fuck ya. LITERALLY. All the shit ya've been through ain't nothin' compared to what I can do to ya" Visibly shivering, she nodded. But this was her only chance.

Checking the watch Mac had given her, she took deep breaths, trying to calm herself. Basically, she had made a deal with the devil to fight a demon. Survival demanded this of her right now. Realizing her mind drifted off again too dark places, an invisible hand put pressure on her throat, making it hard to breath. Like so many times before, panic took over. She fought it back and got up on her feet. It was time.

Walking through the desert, sand in her shoes and the sun burning her skin, Reggi felt something she hadn't felt in a long time: alive. After so long, the spirits returned to her. But changed. She felt changed and still torn. For reasons she didn't entirely understand, her mind went back to thinking about Devon and that in an almost loving way. It confused her. After all, he had taken her hostage, right?! So why did she think like that about him? Nutcase, for sure. But was it so different from what Mac had done, years before? Wasn't this just another form of abuse? Deliberately speeding up her steps, she tried to set her mind on one sole purpose: getting this right, getting out. Messing up wasn't an option. And not cos it meant she wouldn't get outta this. No, dealing with Mac's wrath would be a lot worse. He'd hurt her for sure. He promised as much. Which was actually not a big surprise. So she walked even faster. This had to work.

MAC MAC MAC MAC MAC MAC MAC

I watched lil' bro freakin' out and had a hard time not to laugh. Dammit, this was fun. Carefully checkin' the time, I decided to speed things up when the fucker grabbed me by the collar "What did you asshole do to her? Told you, she is mine" Whoa, that face. I knocked him over with a well placed left hook and he went down. "Listen up, dump-ass! I didn't do shit to that lil' bitch! She bailed and that means we gotta find her! Once again I gotta clean up YOUR mess" Wiping he blood from his nose, he glared at me "MY mess?! You couldn't make sure she stayed here!" "Who's fault is is that she's here in the first place, huh?!" With that, I went for the cave exit. "Where are you going? MAC!" "Stay the fuck here!" I barked at him. Of course, he tried to follow. "Listen up, dipshit. Ya can't be out there. I'm gunna find her." "YOU BETTER!" he screamed, trying to sound threatening. The fuck!?

Got into the truck and lit up a smoke first before I drove the truck behind a big rock and watched. Yup, there he went. This worked better then I hoped. Satisfied, I allowed myself a lil' relief and went back into town. Of course, I didn't go look for her. Almost unable to hide the smirk, I went for the Luna Mesa instead and got myself some food. Walter leaned over the counter "All good" Mouth full, I just shook my head. After I swallowed I replied "Bitch's gone. Gonna go look for her in a bit. Won't get far" Watchin' as his eyes almost popped outta his skull, I continued eating. "Devon?" "In the cave" "Don't think he's gonna stay there. We gotta do..." "NO!" A few people looked over so I lowered my voice and leaned in "We ain't gonna do shit. Place is crawlin' with fuckin' cops and I won't lead 'em to the fuckin' answer to this riddle. Dev fucked up and if he ain't stayin' in the cave, his problem." Polishing a glass, Walter looked thoughtful. "If they get him and he talks..." I pretended to think about this. Instead, I mused over the fact that Da didn't seem to have much confidence in his youngest offspring. What a surprise. Noddin', I stuffed the last of my food and went to get up but Walkter grabbed my wrist "Be careful, son" Son? He hadn't called me that in years. Guess that was a change. Too bad the change of mind came a lil' too late.

She was waitin' right where I had told her. Pullin' over, she climbed into the truck, not lookin' at me. "Ya up to sumthin'? No need to tell ya, right?" Visibly shrinkin' into herself, she seemed taken aback. Too easy to read, the lil' gal. Dirty and sweaty, she looked nice to me and I made sure she saw me roaming my eyes over her. "What if this won't work?" her voice raspy, she took a bottle of water from the dashboard. "Stick to the plan. No problem there. And if ya don't..." lettin' the sentence trail off, I reached over and stroke her arm with my finger. She shivered and spilled some water. "Oh, come on! Dev can touch ya but I can't? Believe we got a lil' closer then you an' him, huh?" Couldn't help myself but laughin'. Splash! Did she really just?! "Stop it! Unlike you, Devon never hurt me like that" She threw the now empty water bottle of the window. "Ain't that right. He just fucked your mind, didn't he" From the corner of my eye I saw realization dawn on her face. "Why are ya still protectin' him? He's no better then me. Good genes an' all..." She swallowed "I'm not..." "Whatever." "You really think they will believe me?" "Sure enough. I could add some bruises, if you think that would back up the story" Flexing my hand I liked that thought for some reason. Reggi just pressed herself almost through the metal of the truck. "No"

The sun was about to set when Reggi asked for me to stop. "Why?" She just shrugged and then said "I won't run. I just didn't have a minute to breath..." Good enough for me, she better had a clear head for this. So I pulled over and she opened the door but didn't get out. But she took off her shoes and buried her bare feet in the warm sand while staring at the sunset. Puttin' a smoke between my lips, I couldn't care less about that shit. After my second smoke, she took a deep breath, rollin' her shoulders "You know, I didn't even just look around since I got here this time. As a child, I loved just sitting in the sand and watch the sun go down" Letting out a sigh, she put her shoes back on and closed the door. Noticing the look on my face, she actually grinned "Right, you got no taste anyway, wouldn't know what beautiful means anyway" "I don't?!" BAM! Guess that along with me lookin' her up and down took her back to reality. "Shit" she closed her eyes and leaned her head back. "Let's get over with this"
