Mac stood before the window, peeking outside. "He's outside" Darbont was up and next to him in a flash while Regina just shot up from the couch and froze there, like she was unsure what to do. "You sure about that? How do you know?" The cop drew his gun but didn't pull the safety. "Just do. Creature of night and all that shit" He took a sip of his beer and seemed totally unimpressed. "Darabont for all units. Suspect seen at safe house. Back up required" The radio had come out of nowhere, at least for Regina and Darabont spoke calm and determined. What happened next took a while for him to process. Regina made a run for the door but got intercepted by Mac who pinned her down underneath him. He spoke to her but Darabont couldn't make it out. Instead, his focus changed as he heard what sounded like the old frontdoor being opened. Pulling the safety, he pointed the gun at the entrance while Mac got Regina up and dragged her to the other end of the room, a hand covering her mouth. Hoping that Mac could stop her from doing anything stupid, he brought his attention to the door fully.

"Whatcha think ya doing, Reggi? This is it, now or neva! Don't cha dare fuckin' this up" I whispered in her ear, havin' her firmly pinned down. Pullin' her up, I made sure she couldn't scream and dragged her behind the cop. Just seconds later, my dearest lil' brother made his overly dramatic entrance. Lookin' like hell, eyes bloodshot, clothes dirty and ripped, he braced himself on the wall, breathing heavily. Now, if I could smell the iron comin' from him, so could the damn cop. Point for me. "Regina" he breathed and reached for her with the hand he didn't use on the wall. "That's close enough! Stay right there or I will shot you!" Darabont was still calm but there was a sharp edge in his voice now. Devon just looked confused. "Why are you pointing that thing at me? It's him you should shot! HE killed them all, he raped her, HE IS THE MONSTER!" Pointing his finger at me, his voice on the edge of hysteria, I knew I had won.

"Sure, and he's also the one who kept her prisoner, right?" Darabont faked a laugh. "Get down to the ground, hands behind your back. DO IT NOW!" Eyes switching between Regina and the Cop, Devon seemed unsure of what to do. "What have you told them? Reggi, what have you done? Why did you leave?" Another step forward "I did it so we could be together..." His voice was now in the edge of breaking and he took another step. Regina tensed in my arms and I had a feelin', if I let her go, she'd run straight to him, givin' him an advantage. Couldn't let that happen. Through my fingers, she whispered his name. Goddammit. "GET DOWN ON THE GROUND!" "Please, I just want my sister..." strechin' out his hands before him, he looked like an innocent lil' puppy. Dirty, granted, yet still a good performance. Damn, good actin' ran in the family. Time to speed this up.

Regina was torn. She knew the plan and she knew this was the only way out. But she couldn't let the cop just kill Devon and he surely would not stop coming towards her. She had to do something but Mac had her firmly in his grip. The cop yelled again and Devon's pleading eyes meet hers. She didn't even notice she leaned forward towards him, she couldn't help it. In the next second, she was there. So close to him, almost able to touch him.

It all happened so fast, Mac mused to himself, couldn't have gone any better. He finished a new beer outside of his house, the dust of the leaving cars still in the air. The second he had let go of Regina, she made a run for Devon, as did he for her. Darabont had pulled the trigger and Devon went down. Seconds alter, the house had been swarmed by cops and out of nowhere, even Walter was here. Nobody questioned his presence, Mac was his son after all. And somebody had been shot in his house. Of course a good dad would come looking for his offspring. Nobody noticed the silent exchange between father and son. Nobody noticed the sadness in the old mens eyes as the body was removed from the house. The cop had made sure to tell Mac and Walter that Regina would be taken care off, the best doctors would look after her.

So Mac had his well earned beer when the first rays of light enlightened the all but dead scenery around him. All but dead. How very fitting for all of this. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out some meth and put it inside his beer. Irony that he now liked it that way when it all basically had started that way. The lab would be set up in one of the many other caves out here and all would be back to usual business. After all, he had cleaned up the mess, hadn't he.
