It's New Years eve and everyone's dressed up and dancing at the New Years eve party that the Mikaelson's are hosting.

Well, more like Ester was hosting.

The whole - more or less - of Mystic Falls was there.

The Mikaelsons, the Salvatores and the Gilberts didn't like it.

Not one bit.

They complained, they whined, they shouted, they pouted. Arguing with 'We didn't spend Christmas together, so why are you taking New Years too' and 'Why do we want a load of strangers to spend our New Years with'. But then they realized how much it seemed to mean to Ester, so finally, they reluctantly gave in...

...And they didn't regret it.

They were currently having a boogie - as Kol likes to call it - in the back garden, to an up-beat song that none of them recognized. All happy, laughing, giggling and madly in love, well, with the exception of Katherine and Matt who are still testing the waters with their new-found relationship - it was going well so far.

Klaus and Caroline kept sharing passionate kisses every now and then, unable to keep their hands to themselves for too long. Everyone round them found it adorably sickening. It was cute and obvious how much they love one another, but seeing it full-time was a little annoying.

Rebekah and Stefan were no better, they couldn't stop smiling like idiots to each other. After Christmas, it was like everything had just gotten so perfect, that they couldn't believe they weren't dreaming. Everything just fell into place for them.

Rebekah's and Stefan's Christmas gift.

"Well open it already." Stefan whined to Rebekah, who was taking really long to open up the present that carries so much meaning.

"I am, I am. Hold your horses you old sod." She winked. "What is it?" Looking like an eager child, Stefan just laughed at her.

"Just open it and find out Miss-soon-to-be Salvatore." He smiled which she returned.

Gently opening the present, she came face-to-face with an old Jewellery box. One that she suddenly realized who it belongs to.

Or used to.

"Oh my. Stefan..." Tears welled up in Rebekah's eyes, as she almost dropped the box.

Carefully coming to kneel beside her, he took the locket out of its box, and locked eyes with his fiancé. "Do you remember mom telling you the story behind this locket?" Rebekah nodded as a tear spilled down her cheek. "Do you remember the way her eyes lit up and the smile that was so bright wouldn't leave her lips until the day was over?" Again she nodded as more tears chased after the first. "Well, mom loved you so much, this locket holds so many memories, so many wishes, and so many dreams, she would have loved to give it to you herself, but as she's not here, I'm doing it for her." He smiled as his own eyes glossed over with unleashed tears.

"Stefan.. I-I-I c-can't t-ta-ake th-i-is." Rebekah started to sob, overwhelmed with such a gift. With Liz' gift. Liz' locket.

"Rebekah, you're about to make me cry, and you know how much I hate crying." He sniffled, willing the tears to stay away. "Mom wanted you to have this. Now turn around so I can put it on you." Pecking a loving kiss to her lips, he waited for her to turn around.

After the locket was sealed around her neck, Rebekah whipped around, leaping into Stefan arms and attacking him with kisses or both joy and sadness.

"I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you." She muttered between her kisses.

"I love you too, my little blonde angel." He chuckled.

Burying her face in the crook of his neck so they couldn't make eye contact, Rebekah began, "Now for your present."

"I already got my gifts from you." Stefan said confused.

She sighed, but didn't remove her face and spoke again just loud enough for him to hear, "We're having a baby."

He froze.

"What?" He managed to choke out, shock still lingering in his gaze and voice. A baby? We're having a baby? I'm going to be a ... father? Was all that was running through his head.

Still un-moving from her position, she repeated, a little louder this time. "We're having a baby Stefan. You and me. A little boy or girl. All ours."

A loud squeal pierced through the silence.

It was Stefan's squeal, and it made Rebekah jump back in surprise. A broad smile was stretched out on his face. Pure happiness and contentment was rolling off him in tidal waves and there was tears of pure joy in his eyes. Rebekah didn't expect to see this when she told him. She expected an 'oh' and then the silent treatment. So this was a surprise. A pleasant one at that.

"So, you're not mad?" She asked hopefully.

"Mad?" He repeated incredulously. "Why on Gods earth would you think I could ever be mad? Rebekah.. We're having a baby. A little bundle of joy. Our little bundle of joy. This is a happy moment. An extremely happy moment. Now let me take you back to bed so we can make twins." He smirked, wanting nothing more than to make love to his soon-to-be wife.

Playfully pushing his shoulder, Rebekah let out a little giggle, quickly wiping away the tears that landed on her soft cheeks, she raced upstairs, calling over her shoulder seductively, "Come and get me Mr Salvatore."

Chuckling lowly, Stefan couldn't imagine a better Christmas. "If only mom was here." She is. She's right here. A voice in the back of his mind said.

Smiling softly to himself, he got up and went after his fiance, planning to make love to her all morning and night.
