"Dave?" John said knocking on the door to Dave's room. A muffled 'come in' came from inside the room. John entered and held a plate with two sandwiches. "Hungry?"
"Yeah, Thanks John-man." Dave said obliging and grabbing a sandwich for himself. "Tastes like shit. Did Karkat make it?"
"Yeah, I think he's trying to learn how to make 'human-food', how could they not have sandwiches on their planet, I can understand why they were so volatile." John said with a snicker at the end and taking a bite into the sloppy mayonnaise with bread and some slices of chicken. John sat down next to Dave and continued eating until there was nothing left.
"I think Karkat might need to tone it down on the mayonnaise, it's like he's planning to drown us with the shit." Dave said wiping his hands on his pants. He put his hand on johns jaw and wiped away some stray mayo at the corner of his mouth. He licked it off his own finger and looked back at John, who had deepened a few shades of red.
Dave turned away and grabbed what he was working on before John had arrived. It was his sword and a sharpening block. Even if half the sword was missing, he could still sharpen it up, mainly because there wasn't really anything else to do.
John turned to Dave and put his hand on his leg. Dave turned to look at John and their lips met. Let me rephrase that, sharpening his sword might have been one of the things to do on the meteor, but it most certainly wasn't the only thing to do.
Their lips moistened against each other's as their kiss became messier and Dave's sword dropped onto the floor. John put his other hand behind Dave on the bed and leaned forward more. Dave removed John's glasses and heated up their kissing even more. Dave's hand crept beneath John's shirt and his cold fingers ran softly over John's supple skin. Goose bumps grew all over John's skin while his blush crawled across his skin and down his neck to his shoulders. His hand moved to his back and pulled john even closer, john's chest almost pressed against him.
John's hand moved from Dave's lap over to his crotch. He rested his hand on top, then started to stroke it softly. John breath had fastened. There was some petting and definitely some making out, and an hour went by and they didn't even notice. John lay back on Dave's bed and smiled to himself as he calmed his heavy breaths. Dave's were a little more heavy than earlier, but even after that escapade he could keep his cool, even though he did have a slight smile on his face.
John reached his hand over to Dave's and ran his fingers over the top of it. He smiled to himself and looked at the ceiling through closed eyes. He felt himself growing tired and rested himself more, feeling his body becoming heavier. Then all of a sudden he felt an odd sensation and breathed out. It wasn't a ragged breath; it was more peaceful than that. But with that breath he felt himself slowly rising, weightlessly. He floated up and spread out of his…arms, well I guess they would be that. He was there, but at the same time he wasn't.
He had become his breath, his essence and had disembodied himself. He became transparent, his airy form dissipating and forming back again. John felt different, maybe free would be able to describe his form. John looked to Dave, but it became apparent that Dave couldn't see him. Dave himself had lain down as well but it was only for a minute before he got up and left the room. John floated after him, but Dave closed the door before he could make it through after him.
Then an idea struck him. Right now john was just a bunch of sentient air particles, maybe his particles could transfer themselves through the particles of the door. He could also go under it, but this was more exciting. John dispersed himself a little more, finding that his form was easier to control than he though. He pressed his form against the door, finding himself slowly flowing through it, it was easier then breathing.
He caught up to Dave, keeping a small distance. They went down the halls and made it to the living area. Karkat was there along with Rose. Lately, Rose had taken to the bottle. I remember when she used to insult and make fun of the brew, but people change and so do habits. While there was incoherent mumbling from Rose's corner, Karkat was on the couch reading, he was upside down, very enthralled in his book. He made a few noises of shock or disagreeance. He always got to into his books.
Dave sat down next to Rose and sat there quietly until Rose decided to share her ramblings with him. John was upset that Rose had decided that drinking would be her newest hobby. John wasn't the only one either. Dave took the bottle from Rose.
"Any progress on the AJ?" He asked coolly as ever.
"Not yet captain." Rose said, slurring on the captain. She was wasted. Dave talked with Rose a little longer then got up and sat down on the couch. He looked at Karkat but decided not to butt in at the climax. He grabbed an Xbox controller off the coffee table, and booted it up, along with the TV.
John felt a moment of light-headedness and then blacked out. He woke up back up in his body and took a huge breath, as if he hadn't breathed since he had left his body. He felt his skin; it was a lot colder than it had been before, unnaturally cold. John got up and walked to his room. He was interested in the new power he had acquired, but he also wanted to practise his other ones. He grabbed the book he kept under his bed and rested it in front of him. He put his hand on the cover and felt his wind flowing through its pages.
He felt an odd sensation from this book. It was cold, it made his breath turn cold, but he kept on going until a shiver ran up his spine. Then he got to the last page and felt it all clear away and sat there for a little while. For some reason, he was afraid, there was an encroaching fear and he hugged himself, steadying his breath. He looked at the book then flipped through its pages, trying to find what had caused his terror.
There was nothing that could've caused it that he could see. He put the book down and walked to the library. He floated there and tried to put the book out of his mind. Down the hall he heard a noise, but when he turned to look there was nothing there, whatsoever.
He continued to the library and decided that he was going to see just how far his powers could go. He stepped into the library and walked to the center. He looked around; there had to be at least one thousand books here. John doubted himself, but he wanted to push his limits, he wanted to impress Dave. Maybe John was jealous because Dave had so easily mastered his gifts while for John it was taking a while.
He stretched out his arms and took a deep breath, expanding his lungs. He cleared his mind and took another breath. Then as he breathed out he pushed out his winds. They were faster this time, they flew each book in nano-seconds. John could the wind around him and could feel the words floating on the breeze. Then it all came rushing back at him. It hit him hard; before it had just dissipated, but now with all these words at once, he was almost knocked off his feet.
He head was spinning; it was like a tornado in his head trying to sort itself out. He fell to his knees and took some deep breaths, waiting for the knowledge to stagnate and for his brain to organize everything. It took a few minutes before he could think straight and a few more before he could get back on his feet. He could recall everything he had just learned in the few seconds he had used his powers. He tried to get back to his normal floating, but he was too exhausted.
John walked over to one of the chairs and rested his head on the back. In a few seconds he was out of there. He fell asleep almost instantly. And almost as instantly he found himself in a dream bubble. John took a few minutes to remember who he was before looking around. John was in Rose's room; he was alone.
Now, John didn't want to snoop, but John really wanted to snoop. It was just a dream bubble, its not like Rose would find out anyways. John smiled to himself and looked under the bed, it was mostly a mound of clothes. Rose didn't really seem like the kind of person who had an unkempt room but she was also the kind of person who didn't seem to make jokes at first glance, but that was clearly not true in either cases.
Then something hit John, there was something that was bugging him. He felt the oddest of sensations, like a magnetic pull, and it was coming from one of Rose's cupboards. John sneaked towards it, it wasn't something he thought he should just rush at, it felt odd, sinister even.
John crept towards the cupboard and slowly opened it, it's hinges making the slightest of squeaks. He found a purple box and picked it up. He grabbed the lid with one hand and held the box in his other. Slowly, ever so slowly, he lifted the lid, and peaked inside. What was inside was a skull; It wasn't a skull of anything he'd ever seen before either. It looked odd, just like the sense it gave off.
Then something weird happened, the skull revived in his hand and jumped at him. Now what happened next was even weirder, it didn't bounce off of him, it went through him. No, it went into him.
Then John jumped back into reality and felt his chest heaving. He had had a nightmare. Or, a nightmarebubble, who knows? But John grabbed his chest and felt his heart aching. He leaned forward and held his chest. It was a lot worse than earlier when he had an out of body experience, but he was sure that was just a new power. Now, he was feeling literal pain. And it wasn't just his chest. He felt his skin growing colder and then hotter, the temperatures pulsing. And then, all at once it stopped.
His breath became steady again and he felt the other pains going away. John really didn't know what to make of it. Maybe it was a side effect, or a glitch in the game. But John, wanted to see Dave, tell him what happened and ask him what he thought. John just wanted to see Dave.
To be continued….
