Chapter Nine

(Paul P.O.V)

Friday, only a week left. Dawn and I had barely spoken to each over after our little... moment, on Wednesday. Ash and Drew were still begging to know about Blue's secret, which I know she's pregnant. And finally, I've realised that Ursula was starting to take notice of me, e.g. she started talking to me.

Once I've arrived at the school gate, I saw a man leaning against the wall; he was wearing a black suit and sunglasses, but what really catches my eyes was the strange-shaped black rose medal that hung on his suit pocket. Last of all, he was looking at me, "hay, Paul, hi, Wolfy", "hi hi hiii, Wolfy!" The obvious duo cheered, as they ran to us.

When I looked back at the strange, but familiar, man... He was gone. "Paul, are you ok?" Dawn questioned, tilting her head a bit. "I-I'm fine, it's just I thought I saw someone I knew", I stuttered, once again blushing, since my friend was really close up again. *Ahh, ever since I've kissed her, I-I just can't stop thinking about her and now I'm blushing like crazy*, I argued in my thoughts.

I heard Wolfy chuckle at my reaction, while I just turned around to head towards the school building. "Come on, school starts in fifteen minutes", I said looking at my watch. "O-ok..." Dawn replied and then turned silent. *Paul: Thanks for the help, Mutt. Wolfy: You're welcome, ha, ha*.

After are morning lessons, we met up with the gang at lunch. "Ahh, Dawn guess what, guess what?!" screamed May, literally. "It's... A week till Valentine's Day... And my 16th birthday", Dawn guessed, nervously. "Okay, not that... On Valentine's Day, we have a Valentines Prom and now we get to vote on the Valentine king and queen, you should so enter, Dawn!"

Then, drew gave us guys some ear plugs all of the sudden and they put it on. I did so as well, when I realised that the girls had started screaming in excitement. *I guess, this is a regular routine for the guys*, I thought, with a sweat-drop. Suddenly, I heard a very ugly laugh, Ursula.

"Ha, ha *snort*, you really think that you would win Valentines queen", the pink haired girl boasted. "Oh, take a break pinkie... Leave my sis, alone", a familiar voice emerged to the scene. "Star, what are you doing here?" My best friend questioned her twin. He took off his cap and scratched his head, while Staraptor flew to Dawn and gave her an ancient scroll from his claw.

"This is from Elder", Star finished. *Elder, is that the wise Pokémon of the forest, a Torterra?* I questioned my thoughts. She started reading and then burst out, "what! There's a guard from my family's life long rival family in the area!" Star looked shocked as he, obviously, haven't read it.

"Oh please, from what you told me on Wednesday, your mother is dead and your farther is, where?" Said Ursula, as I saw Dawn clench her fist,*oh on, something is wrong*. "D-dawn... Are you ok?" I stuttered, risking a step closer. "I-I'm fine... M-my father... H-had moved to his birth home, since me and Star were thirteen... Ha, I remember when he taught me his best of work, then when he left Star took over teaching me all he knew".

-Flash-back-

"Well, this is my first day on the job, but no need to worry. I have been trained by the best person to get trained from"

-End-

*Wow... Dawn may be good at telling the truth, but she's also good at going around the truth too*, I thought, astonished. "Sis, are you really okay about this?" Star worried, but she turned towards our direction looking down, hiding her emotions.

"... Its o-okay", she looked up to show a tear, trailing down her face. "I-I'm used it... I-I'm used to losing people that I cared about; my Pokémon friends; mom; dad... And when I almost lost 'Black' forever", *almost lost 'black'... S-she missed me? And cared for me, does she still care for me now?*

"And I'm pretty sure... That I'm going to lose a-another soon", she finished. I then clenched my fist as I shouted out, "Enough!" They all looked at me surprised, "can't you see that Dawn had enough drama on Wednesday!" I continued and turned to my friend.

"You're even more troublesome as always, I get it your life was a misery from time to time. But, my life was horrible 24/7 until I ran away from home; you know that I never wanted to take over my father's, big fancy throne, I always wanted to be a Pokemon trainer; he never understood on what I wanted, I bet he doesn't even care about me!"

"There you are, your highness..." Said a familiar voice, I turned to see the man from before. *Oh, no*, I thought, recognizing him. "C-Captain Blade, w-what are you doing here?" "Don't play dumb me, Prince; me and your father had been looking all over for you, and I see that your friends with the Rosett twins..." Suddenly Blade pulled his sword out and continued.

"They belong to the family, that had been rivals to your family, since the beginning of time. It is my duty, to protect you from the family, who's own ancester banished your ancestor from the sacred lands of peace". Dawn looked at me confused and spoke, "P-Paul, what is he talking about?"

I looked back seeing her and Sapphires already hurtful face and Wolfy was the one to answer. "She deserves to know, Paul", nodding my head in agreement, I replied, "I'm the Prince of the Black Love Rose Kingdom".

(Dawn P.O.V)

I just couldn't believe what he said, *Dawn: Why? Why did he not tell me? Why didn't my instincts have told me to stay away from him in the first place? Why did I even fall in love with him? ?: Because you two were destined to be together, my little flower. Dawn: My little flower? Mom? Mom, is that you? Mom!*

"And Don't you dare call my friend, a rival! She is too innocent, to harm anyone", Paul suddenly burst out to the Captain. "Why?" I quietly, questioned. He looked at me and I tried to speak louder, "why did not tell me in the first place? Why did you even stay as my friend, when you known that I am your family's rival?! Do you even care about me?!"

Paul had a hurt look on his face, but he answered with a caring voice "because you're my best friend, since we were six; I trust you with everything to me". I smiled at him with a happy tear trialling down my face; thanks to my powers, the weather change from cloudy to raining sunshine.

"Beg pardon, your highness. I apologize for my behaviour. Anyway, as I was saying. Your father had been looking for you and he does understand your desire, that of which, wants to make a deal with you", Captain Blade interupted. My best friend raised an eyebrow and motioned his hand for the man to continue.

"Become the king to your family's throne, and you get to see your friends as much as you want, also you can become a Pokemon trainer". The plum-headed boy looked at me in a questioning way, while I answered, "it's your choice". With that Paul agreed with the deal and suddenly , Ursula said "Paul's a Prince!? After all these years, of being an unpopular to a popular and now finding out that's he's a Prince, he's practicly top boy of the school!"

I sweat-dropped about the obvious, *she sounds just like Ash*.

-After school-

Me and Paul were walking home together silently, until Wolfy broke the silence. "Okay, someone better start talking or I'm going to snap!" We both walked a few more steps and Paul was first to speak, "are you okay with this?" "Yeah, your going to be a king and you still get to see me and the others", I replied with a smile.

We looked around to see we were by the Crystal Blue lake, I started to blush of the moment we had on Wednesday. "It's only a week left, huh?" He said, out of the blue. "Yeah..." I quietly answered, "will I still be able to see you after your job is done?" Looking at him surprised, I looked down again and said "I don't know, I might have to leave, if there is another wisher to help".

"Then we will make the most out of it!" He burst out, pumping his fist into the air. I giggled of his rare enthusiasm, while I heard my heart beating fast. "Can I tell you something?" I questioned out of the ordinary, "yeah?" "When you told me about that you are the Prince of the Black Love Rose Kingdom, I was thinking about all of the questions that went through my head... I suddenly heard a voice, that I think was my mom's voice".

"Well, what did she say?" I then turned bright red, as I remembered what she told me. Paul saw my huge, embarrassing blush and he smirked, "oh! Is this about something interesting?" Turing even a brighter shade of red, I stuttered, "n-no! No need to worry, it's nothing".

He raised an eyebrow, but his smirk remains. "Alright then, race you back to your place, Troublesome!" He teased, while steamed up. "My name is Dawn, D-A-W-N, Dawn!" Then I chased after him, with Sapphire following Behind.

*Oh, my little flower, how you have grown. I never left your side, since my death and I'm proud of you all the way, my daughter...*
