Jelly In A Refrigerator - Chapter 2: Applications
It is 6 in the morning.
His mom always let him sleep to 8 even it made him late for school. Zac loves how blankets were so warm and soft. He would wake up with his mom called him for dinner. He loved it when his mom served hot dish of pancake. He would pour too much honey that his mom had to complain. He would meet a dog, which he named Rosie, and played with it. He would be late for school and had to write things after class. Those days are so nice, so nostalgic.
"Wake up!" A female voice rose sharp.
"Five more minutes, mommy" Zac mumbled.
"Who did you just call 'mom'?" A female voice rose sharper.
Zac opened his eyes. He wondered where he is. Soon he realized that he is not at his home. He was at League's house for champion. The woman was not his mom, but his housemate. He forgot her name, though.
"Breakfast is ready. I guess you wouldn't mind roasted beef and mashed potato. I usually had a big meal in the morning so I don't know what else to do. If you want vegetable, they are in the refrigerator. I forgot to buy salad dressing so sorry." The woman spoke quickly. Zac can heard the door opened and closed, then someone going downstair.
Zac loved all kind of meat. He loathes vegetables, however. The roasted beef sounds delicious for him. He slowly rose from the bed. Zac made his bed and went downstairs.
Still, he cannot remember the woman's name.
The roasted beef was very spicy. The woman told Zac it had to be spicy so they can feel warm throughout the day. Zac quite disagreed with her, but spices sure made him wide awake.
"Is it good?" The woman asked, though she did not seem to interest in answer. "Oh, today we have to apply our information to the League." She ate a spoonful of vegetables. Zac was sure that she ate only vegetables and left all meat and mashed potato for him. He hated vegetables anyway. She might also lie about forgetting to buy salad dressing. No wonder why she is so slim - no - thin, too thin.
"It would be so kind if you pick my application sheets in my bedroom." She had another spoon of vegetables "I will wash the dishes, for us."
Zac, like a cliché male, was lazy to do housework. He silently nodded to her request and left the kitchen. He then realized - Where is her room. Luckily, the house was so small that he can open rooms randomly and found the woman's. The room was very clean yet he can feel a strange aura in it. He picked an envelope from the desk. After hesitated for seconds, he headed toward the kitchen. This envelope is woman's business, not his. Besides, he did not finish the application yet!
"Are you sure?"
"Absolutely" The blue woman brushed dust from a car, the small, bronze rounded car with windows on two side and citrine crystal as headlight to be precise. It was Hextech Firewheel car which was about ten years late to be here. This woman seemed to be out of trend. Besides, he was not even sure if she could drive. Besides of besides, why on Runeterra she had to force him to wear this stupid-looking shirt.
"It is cute, isn't it?" The woman smiled, her yellow summer dress twirled as she turned to him. "I decided to buy it once I saw how cute it is."
"I'm still not sure." Zac said. "I'm not meant to be rude but… can you drive?"
"Of course I cannot" The woman still sounded cheerful. "but I'll try"
As a Zaunite who have technology running in his blood - or goo - Zac quickly offered "No, no, you don't have to" He opened the door for the woman (He still could not remember her name) and then went in the car. "So… where is the League?"
"Let's see…"
It's going to be a long, long journey.
"Turn left here." Lissandra said after looked at the map through her shades.
She felt a bit irritated. Zac didn't refer to her by her name once after breakfast. Zaun is the home of brilliant scientists, and Zaunite should have, besides craziness, good memory.
Another reason she was irritated is they were nowhere near the League. She, with such grace of the queen (well, soon-to-be queen anyway), could not tell anyone that she cannot read this… modern… map correctly. Anyway, she was sure it was this way… or not?
"Excuse me, miss" The jelly boy ask her "May I look at the map, please?"
"Oh? This? Yes! yes, you can" She absent-mindedly handed him the map.
They parked the car so Zac could examine the map more clearly "Well, I always think" He folded the map "that we're lost" After saw the look on Lissandra's face, he quickly added "b-but not so hopelessly!"
"Oh, my beloved Watchers!" Lissandra said out loud, closed her face with both of her hands "Why don't you gifted me with the knowledge of modern age!"
"Excuse me, miss?" The green man looked at her, wondered with that unfamiliar word.
Lissandra took a deep breath and look at Zac. He can felt the eyes piercing to him behind the sunglasses. "My name is Lissandra and I've been suspect you for the whole morning that you forgot my name. The 'beloved Watchers' are the eldritch abomination deep within the Freljord which I've tried to awaken to take over the world with ice. Yes, I'm the villain and I'm throwing my rage at you because I know it's my fault that we're lost." After she notice the look of shock on Zac's face, she said, more calmly "Don't worry, I'm not going to kill you. I have to murder my sisters first. If you'd like, I can spare Zaun from the total annihilation."
After that, one could hear the deep voice of Zaunite hero's scream. For that being the delight to the ears was up to debate.
At the League, the officers could saw the discomfort between the Secret Weapon and the Ice Witch. Both rushed to the combat section as if they wanted to finish this as fast as possible.
"Why don't you tell me that you are the WITCH who serves the ELDRITCHABOMINATION?" Zac slammed his paper on the table. The blue slender figure sprang slightly after heard the impact, Lissandra then glared at Zac. "And I also supposed to know they you are Zaun's HERO!"
"The League is so confusing! Putting HERO and VILLAIN on the SAME house? What are they thinking" Zac complained. Lissandra poked him to write the application but he didn't acknowledge. She then said, annoyed. "If I remember correctly, they said there was no empty hou - What should I use as my first combat ability?"
Zac sighed. "It should be the ability that freezes you and shatter you to pieces. Yes, seriously." He added after noticed the deadly gaze of Lissandra. "So yours should also be the one that dissolve you and turn you into useless liquid!" She shouted.
"Me? I'm far more useful than YOU!" Zac roared. "You think so? HA! No one will care about the green snot man like you!" Lissandra said angrily. "Now, excuse me while I go filled my application outside!" She stomped away.
Two hours passed, and guilt crept onto Lissandra's mind. 'Oh, my dear Watchers' she thought. 'I shouldn't scream at the man I'll share the house with'. The glacial woman slowly walked into the room, Zac still there, with his application unfinished.
Lissandra lightly coughed. "Excuse me" she was a bit annoyed, there were many 'excuse me' uttered today. "I sincerely apologize to you with such harsh action… two hours ago." Lissandra then sat besides Zac "Let me… er… help you with this application."
Zac looked at her; his expression was hard to read. He then sighed (again, Lissandra thought) and said "I… was waiting for you. I think about it and, well, there is no reason for us to be enemy." He then asked "Should we go now?"
Lissandra lightly nodded. They both stood up at the same time. Lissandra led Zac to the officer's table. The clock told them it was lunch time. Without thinking, they accompanied each other to the nearby restaurant.
