Hello readers! Here is another piece of the puzzle! Finally, some B&B conversation! Enjoy!
Brennan's Apartment, Chicago:
Brennan looked at the man in front of her with a mild form of shock. She knew this was coming, but she didn't expect it to be so soon. She stepped back, allowing her former partner inside.
"You know, you look very mom-like with that baby monitor." he said, taking in her appearance.
"You said the same thing when we took care of Andy."
"You remember that?"
"Of course." she answered.
"How is the little guy?" he asked.
"He is doing well, the last I was informed he was about to start kindergarten."
"That's good."
"Booth, this is incredibly awkward."
"It won't be, we just need some time to break the ice."
"I don't know what that means."
The two sat in awkward silence for a moment, when a whine of loneliness came over Brennan's monitor.
"I'll be back in a moment." Brennan said, standing up from the couch.
"May I..."
Brennan interrupted him, "I'll bring her out here, Booth. I know that's why you're here."
"Thank you."
Brennan entered her daughter's room, picking up the small child.
"Hi, Amelia. Can you not go to sleep? I'm going to take you out to the living room with me. You're father is here, try not to fuss, okay?"
Booth smiled at Brennan's words, hearing them over the baby monitor. Brennan returned from the room down the hall, a bundle in her arms. Booth smiled when he the head in the crook of Brennan's neck look over at him.
Brennan walked over to the couch, sitting back down next to Booth.
"Would you like to hold her?"
"Of course."
Brennan handed him the child. Booth smiled when he saw the five month old's curious eyes looking up at him.
"Hi Amelia, I'm your daddy. You probably don't remember me, you were too young when we first met," he kissed her on the cheek, "but I still love you so much."
A small smile graced Brennan's face as she watched the interaction between father and daughter.
"Bones, I can't not be involved in her life." Booth decreed.
"I know, Booth."
"How are we going to resolve this?" he asked.
"I am willing to have a visitation agreement drawn up, I'm sorry you have to go through this again, Booth."
"It's not your fault, Bones."
"Yes it is! It was me who denied you from seeing her in the first place."
"I understand, Bones. It hurt like hell that you don't trust me, but I understand."
"It's not that I don't trust you Booth, it's just..."
"You don't need to explain, Bones. I understand. I'm just glad we both came to our senses."
"How are you and Hannah?"
"It's complicated." he said.
"I'm sorry."
"Why?"
"It's my fault you two are having problems." Brennan said.
"No, it's not. If it is anyone's fault, it's mine. I was the one who got back together with her when I knew it had gone sour."
"But you love her."
Booth's face cringed slightly, "You can love multiple people in this world, Bones. But there's only one person that you love the most."
"I find that I am obligated to agree."
"I'm sorry we're in this mess, Bones. Our daughter doesn't deserve it. We don't deserve it. I'll make it right, Bones. I promise."
"You've promised me a lot of things, Booth." she said.
"I'll fix this Bones, just give me a little more time."
"I'll try my best, would you like to put her back in a crib?" Brennan asked, indicating to the sleeping infant.
"Yeah, I would. Then I'll head out, let you get to sleep. I'll come by again soon."
"Make sure you call next time." she said, somewhat jokingly.
"I will."
Booth carried Amelia into the room Brennan pointed him to, covering the child with a small blanket once in her crib.
"Goodnight, Amelia. Daddy loves you." he said, exiting the room.
He walked back into the living room, seeing Brennan had finished cleaning up the remnants of their dinner.
"Goodnight, Bones. See you soon." he said, heading towards the front door.
"Goodnight, Booth." she said, shutting and locking the door behind him.
They finally conversed! I hope you enjoyed! Remember to review!
