Chapter 10 – The Spirit of Competition Part 2
Air Temple Island
"Thor?! Thor!" Korra yelled as she searched for the missing young warrior prince, it had been just thirty minutes ago since Korra made the wrong choice. And now she is paying for it, she looked and looked but he was nowhere on the island.
"Jinora, have you seen Thor?" Korra asked as she saw one of the airbending kids.
"He came about ten minutes ago, he said he was going back home. He looked really mad." Jinora replied. "What happened?"
Korra panicked and ran out the door; she put on her parka again and went to the city again.
Republic City
The still heart-stricken Thor walked through the city's streets, he held onto his belongings which were just extra clothes. Thor entered the outskirts of the city, almost into the cold mountains.
"Hey kid."
"Huh?" A short, grizzled man called Thor. "What do you want?"
"You smell sort of funny bub…like you been hanging around Water Tribe foods for too long and took a swim in rain water." The man said with a raspy voice. "Name's Lugaan, but most people call me Wolverine."
"Oh…hello, Lugaan. I've had enough of Water Tribe." Thor responded as he continued walking away.
"Whoa there bub, there is no reason to talk like that. Come on, what gives?"
"It's petty…you wouldn't care." Thor replied, but the short man looked at him with a sincere look. He looked like he had been through a lot of things. "I was lied to, by this girl."
"Ah girl-troubles, we are not safe from them aren't we kid?" Lugaan asked as he took out a cigar and began to smoke. He took a seat on a nearby bench and took a long breath. "I've had my fair share of heat with women, not gonna lie…they're a handful."
"Yeah tell me about it." Thor replied as he took seat next to grizzled man. "I thought we were…going somewhere you know but then I find her sucking faces with this other guy."
"This other guy pals with you?"
"Yes."
"Hmph…gotta blame them hormones. Listen kid, just because this girl got it to you doesn't mean you have to go all Zuko on everyone you know. Sometimes you have to work through the heart ache, that's how we get better…as men." Lugaan said as he smoked his cigar. "Heck I once tried to toughen up a bartender for looking at my girl funny once."
"So…I shouldn't leave the city?" Thor asked.
"If you need some time alone, for all means have it kid. After all, out there in the mountains it's pretty peaceful." Lugaan said as he stood up and straightened his leather jacket. "Who is this girl anyway?"
"The Avatar."
Wolverine began to laugh softly at the reply and the thought of it. "Boy do you have the greatest of luck, listen, I don't know this gal personally but I'm sure she did a mistake."
"Yeah…a mistake." Thor said with little hope.
"Gotta go kid, nice talkin' with ya." Lugaan tipped his hat and smirked as he walked away. It had been a while since Thor had met someone as unique as this fellow. Unlike most people he actually sounded sincere with his words, and sure as he could be too.
Thor stood and took a look at the path to the mountains. He shook his head and turned around and left back to the city.
As he walked through the downtown area, Thor saw Korra riding Naga through the streets asking people things. Then she saw him and her face lighten like a kid's face during Avatar Day in Kyoshi Island. Naga rode quickly towards him, licking the young prince's face. "Hahaha…good to see you Naga." Thor said as he petted the polar bear dog.
Korra hopped out of Naga. "Listen Thor…about what happened in the arena…I wanted to tell you that…"
"No need to apologize since you didn't do anything wrong. I was thinking on my way back to island, I saw it was my fault. I was trying to look for something that was never there." Thor said as he made a fake smile, trying to convince himself that this didn't hurt him. "Just…don't hurt Asami, she looks like a nice girl."
"But Thor…"
"I'll see you in the island." Thor said as he walked pass Korra and towards the island alone. Korra stood by herself, holding the want to earthbend the ground he walked on and just bring him back. But she knew that that type of thinking had ruined her chances forever.
"Wait…" Korra said.
Republic City Docks
Thor reached the docks, the moon lighten Yue Bay and the statue of Avatar Aang. He breathed the fresh sea air and stepped inside the small boat. But before he rowed his way to Air Temple Island he saw Mako coming his direction. "Just in time too…" Thor murmured as he sat inside the boat.
"Thor listen, whatever happened between Korra and I was a mistake. She just came up to me and didn't give me time to react and…!" Mako tried to explain.
"Don't worry; I do not hold grudges…especially to something as trivial as this." Thor said with an irritated tone. "I'll see you…sometime."
Thor started to row his way to the island, with a tired and irritated look in his face. Mako still felt guilty for what happened, he had kissed her back…this only made things worse.
Air Temple Island
As Thor walked back to his room, he felt footsteps behind him. He turned and saw Korra standing on the opposite side of the hallway. She looked at him, but he just turned to open the door to his room.
But before he could even step inside, Korra pulled him out and kissed him passionately taking the young prince by complete surprise. The feeling of utter bliss passed through their bodies, and then they stopped. "I'm so sorry…I made a mistake before. I just hope that…"
"That…that felt…good." Thor said as he came out of awe. Korra laughed and pushed him inside his room and closed the door behind her.
Unknown Location
The mastermind behind the revolution, the Equalist leader Amon sat in his office. Looking over several reports of S.H.I.E.L.D troopers having raided many training spots across the city. It wasn't looking to good, but he need to persevere if he wanted to equalize the entire city.
"Having trouble?"
"Who's there?" Amon asked…he looked around; the only source of light was his small desk light. "Show yourself."
The figure of a young man in green and golden robes came out of the darkness; he had a horned gold helm and a wicked grin on his face. "I'm Loki of Asgard, and I have come to make you an offer."
"Who are you to order me?" Amon asked as he looked at Loki eye-to-eye. Loki smiled and began to laugh.
"You mortals and your threats, I'm a god you fool. What you see in front of you is a physical representation of my very being for I am beyond your human vision." Loki told the equalist leader as he walked circles around him. "Heed my words, your war will come and you will win only if you listen to my very word."
"What do you want?" Amon asked, and then another person appeared behind Loki, it was a young woman. She was dressed in a green outfit and had golden hair.
"For now, just keep going with your plans on attacking the Pro-Bending finals for I have more urgent matters to attend to in Asgard. But when the time comes, your endgame will surely arrive." Loki said as he once again grinned evilly. He disappeared along with the young woman.
Amon turned to look at his plans; the blueprints for their new weapons were good to go. He only needed his contributor to ship them to him by the finals. "A god…a god has chosen me…hmm…"
