A breather chapter for you all after some chapters full of not so bright themes. While this chapter will be a little questionable, it will be lighthearted compared to the rest. After all, Thor is quite the gentleman. Enjoy!
Chapter 11 - Under the Wood of the World Tree
Air Temple Island
The sun shined through the window of Thor's room and the rays of light hit him on the face. His eyes slowly opened, he looked at his room. It was mess…but then he thought 'I swear that I left it in order yesterday.' But then he remembered, he turned to see a sleeping Korra next to him.
'By the combed beard of Odin!' He yelled inside his mind, it seemed like the charms of the god of thunder was the only thing that the All-Father hadn't took from Thor. He slowly got out from bed and when he did he noticed he had lost his under clothes. 'Where have I put these damn mortal under garments!?' He thought, he found them and quickly put on his clothes.
"Much better." Thor whispered to himself as he looked at himself on the mirror. "Now…what to do when she wakes up? Where's the Dashing Fandral when you need him?"
Korra woke up; her hair was a mess with her bangs hanging over her eyes. She yawned and stretched her arms. Thor was about to exit the bathroom when a recently awoken Korra stood in front of him. "Hey." She greeted him.
"Uh…hi." Thor greeted her back with a little shyness in his voice. "About what happened last night…?"
"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone." Korra replied as she walked pass the young prince with only the bed's sheets covering her.
"I haven't felt this refresh since my adventure in Alfheim, the pool of eternal youth was quite the experience but this…this tops them all." Thor said as he sat on his bed and smiled cheekily.
"Yeah about that, I was meaning to ask, what are these places that you always talk about?" Korra asked him as she joined him, fully clothes this time but her hair still a mess.
"It's a little complicated…well the kingdom I come from is called Asgard. And there are other realms…I mean kingdoms around ours. Vanaheim, Alfheim, Nidavellir, Svartalfheim, Jotunheim and the dreaded kingdoms of Niffleheim and Muspleheim." Thor answered to the best of his ability without revealing his immortal identity.
"Okay, okay…this sounds like something out of a comic book. There's something odd about you and I noticed since the first day we met. Be honest with me, who are you really?" Korra asked again, bringing Thor between a wall and a sword.
"You wouldn't believe me…Asgard is not actually just a kingdom. Asgard resides within the endless sea of space between worlds. The Spirit World as you know it…is actually the vast lands around Asgard and Vanaheim." Thor slowly revealed. "We call those lands as the Lands of the Norns, were the small kingdom of Karnilla is built on and were many, many powerful spirits reside."
Korra listened to these hardly believable things that came out of Thor's mouth. "And those that live within Asgard's and Vanaheim's walls are called Aesir but to you mortals we are known as the Gods. Immortal and all-mighty." Thor revealed. "And I'm their prince…the once would-be god of thunder."
Thor then remembered why he was banished in the first place, his arrogance and hubris. "I thought that when you said that you could grasp stars you meant that you were strong but not that literal strong!" Korra said with confusion. "You are actually a god? Wait…what is a god?"
"What is a god? The answer to that is something that mortals cannot measure and normally…they aren't allowed to do so." Thor replied as he looked at Korra. "It is said that the very first god came out of the coldness of darkness. His name was Buri, and he, along with a spirit of unknown origin brought light and balance to all realms."
Korra's mind was blown with the sheer magnitude of what a god was. "Then what is the job of a god? I mean, Spirits have each a specific task..." Korra said.
"A god's job is to protect all who strive hard to live, to forgive and protect humanity. That's the duty of a god, unfortunately ever since the last era of darkness, my father ordered to leave Midgard forever." Thor explained to Korra, he grabbed some nearby paper and a pencil and began drawing.
"What are you sketching?" Korra asked.
"We are all connected, each realm is held together by the arms of the World Tree." Thor responded as he drew a gigantic tree with nine different worlds in each branch, and Earth sat right in the middle. "This is Asgard, on top, that's where I come from. And this is Earth, Midgard, land of man and these are the Nine Realms. We are all part of the Tree of Life, with its roots holding the universe together in harmony and peace."
"That's unbelievable…and here I thought that I was the most important person on the world." Korra said feeling a little bit smaller in a more cosmic scale.
"You are the most important being on the world to me." Thor replied with a smile earning a pillow smack to the face.
"You romantic types are so predictable." Korra said with a playful tone as she headed towards the door that led to the hallway. "Let's get some breakfast and remember…nothing happened."
"Like crystal." Thor replied as he followed her outside.
But after they closed the door to the bedroom, a golden haired woman in green appeared in the room looking at the door. She was full of rage, she grabbed the papers were Thor had drawn the World Tree on and burned them with her hand. "Thor…the human god is lower than the human." Amora said as her fury intensified tenfold.
