58. Kick in the Head

The covers shifted and Tommy felt like his head would explode. His nose pounded, pressure building up behind his eyes. If the covers shifted just a tiny bit more.

They didn't, but the thing underneath turned over onto its side and towards the other one beside it.

It would have been a relief if the things under the cover really were things. Inanimate objects that Tommy had no real relation to. Alas, that was not the case and would never be.

Because the things were not things.

They were people.

And it disturbed him.

Namely, Dil.

And Jo.

But it wasn't who they were that disturbed him. Far be it from that.

No. It was the fact that they were in Dil's bed...

...and sleeping didn't generally have that much skin exposed.

Tommy's stomach knotted, anger starting to build up and settle in his chest. He pulled out of the room and shut the door gently, making a point not to wake the sleeping teens in the room.

So that was what the slamming door had been earlier, Dil coming into the house entangled with Jo. It also explained the jacket that was sprawled on the stairs behind him. He turned and walked towards it, picking it up before depositing it in front of the door. He managed to get down the stairs, through the living room, and into the kitchen before exploding.

Figuratively.

He slammed a hand on the table, knocking over the pepper shaker and making it spill. He was the oldest, he was supposed to be the first to get a girlfriend in the unspoken rules of sibling rivalry, and he was definitely supposed to be the first to screw a girl.

At least it explained the tie on the doorknob.

He stopped then, realization hitting him hard.

"Oh my God, I didn't want to picture that!"
