Hi, so first off must come the apologies, I left this for a really long time. I was having a bad time when I lost chapter nineteen and just could not motivate myself to rewrite it (yes, I couldn't find a back up copy). I had no intention of finishing this till anonymous2345 wrote to me, It made me realize that people were nice enough to read this and sometimes even to take the time to review it so I owed them an ending. So, a little late coming and a little short but here is the first part of chapter 28. Look for the next part in the upcoming week. Chapter nineteen will be rewritten at some point in the next month. And thank you to everybody who remembers what this story is and has decided to read this update despite my abandonment of it.
Kurt opened his eyes. He blinked wearily, even though he was just waking up he felt more like he had just stepped out of a boxing rink. Why did he feel so tired and why had he woken up when it was clear that he needed a lot more sleep. Then it came back to him in one terrible blur, looking down and seeing blood gushing from Blaine's stomach. The horrible ride from the hospital to Doctor Sandra's clinic. Blaine sweating and screaming in agony and the fear that he was going to loose him. That was why he felt so exhausted, but why had he woken up. He opened his eyes and found himself staring straight into those honey chocolate eyes that he adored so much. There was something wrong though. There was pain in them. Kurt sat up immediately.
"Blaine, Blaine, what's wrong?"
"It's okay." He gasped out.
"It's obviously not." Kurt replied putting his hand on Blaine's forehead. "You're still hot."
"Stop fussing."
Kurt shot him an incredulous look.
"Really, because I think you got stabbed and ended up with a infection and then had to have emergency surgery without proper medication or a hospital. So, I am going to be fussing you for the next couple of weeks until that angry red mark on your stomach turns into a cute little white line that I can kiss."
Blaine gave a half smile.
"That is going to be quite a while."
"I'll try not to over do it. But please just let me fuss you for a little while, it'll help make me feel secure. Now, you're in pain." He looked over his shoulder at the little bedside clock.
"It's only been three hours since your last dose. You may have to wait another hour, I'll ask Doctor Sandra if you can have it sooner."
"I can deal with the pain Kurt, I just need some distraction."
"Hmm.. T.V is good distraction, seeing as you're the injured one I'll even let you watch those comic book shows. "
"Finally, and all it took was getting stabbed. Too early for jokes." He asked. Kurt knew that the smile on his face had dropped, it was a hard one to keep up. Though he loved Blaine, he could admit that the other boy still looked awful.
"Yeah. A little."
There was an awkward pause during which Blaine tried to sit up and giving a gasp of pain fell back onto the pillow looking even paler and sweatier than before.
"Stay put." Kurt said placing a hand on his shoulder. "What do you need? Water, snacks, a new bandage, something to cool you down?"
"Uh.. the toilet."
"Oh, right! Um.. I'll call Cooper."
"So he is here?"
"Yeah."
"I thought it might have been the fever or something."
"No. He's here."
"And you read my diary?"
"Yeah."
Blaine sighed.
"Hey." Kurt said picking up his hand and stroking his fingers along the back. "I love you. Let me go get Cooper and I'll make you something to eat."
"Okay."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
Kurt gave him a light kiss to the forehead. He jumped as he walked through the door and almost walked straight into Doctor Sandra.
"Oh, Doctor, I'm sorry."
"It's okay. Hows the patient?"
"He's awake and he seems to know what's going on. He's in pain and putting on a brave face."
"Hows his temperature?"
"A little high I think."
"Okay, I have to go to the clinic soon but I'll check in on him."
"Thank you Doctor, honestly, thank you for everything."
"It's not a problem Kurt. I just expect a bouquet of flowers, your hairdressers number and an invite to Christmas."
"For the rest of your life." Kurt said with a wide smile.
"I'm in a rush, I'd better see Blaine."
"Okay, would you like a sandwich, a cup of tea or something before you go?"
"Do you have to go cups?"
"I actually do. You have no idea how often my Dad misplaces his flask."
"Okay, I'll have a coffee and sandwich to go."
"Least I can do."
Kurt headed to the kitchen passing Cooper in the front room as he went.
"Oh, Cooper, Blaine needs the toilet."
"And?" Cooper said. "Oh wait, he's awake." He said excitedly jumping up from the couch. "How is he?"
"Good, Sandra is in with him. He's much better than yesterday, It's remarkable, really."
"Is he out of the woods?" Cooper asked.
"I'm going to ask Sandra later. I almost don't want to hope. So, toilet..."
"Oh. Oh, you wanted me to..." He pointed upstairs.
"Yeah, I mean, it would be really awkward if I did it. And asking Finn to do this sort of thing is a little risky. Besides, you're brothers."
"Okay, but I haven't changed any diaper in like sixteen years."
"Just get him to the bathroom and make sure he doesn't fall over or hurt himself. He'll do the rest."
Cooper hesitated.
"Kurt, he's never need me before. And now I know how much it hurts to loose him I don't want to muck this up."
"Cooper, he loves you. I can tell by the way that he talks about you."
"This is all so strange."
"You're here and that's all that matters."
"Okay, I'll go up." He hesitated again as he walked past Kurt. Kurt was surprised when he was pulled into a rough hug. As he pulled away he clapped him on the back.
"Thank you."
"Your welcome."
Cooper was gone from the walls in seconds. Kurt watched him go before shrugging to himself and went to the kitchen to make the sandwich and coffee for Doctor Sandra.
Kurt tugged lightly at the loose curls. Blaine continued to sleep soundly. It was surprising to think that a few hours before he had woke up after an awful nightmare, now he was curled so innocently and soundly. Kurt was always admired by him.
"I am so glad that you found your way to me."
He bent to kiss Blaine's eyebrow.
"You have no idea how lonely I was before you came along. Is that selfish of me to say. After all you've been through. You'd probably be happier if you were back at home and none of this would have happened but I don't know how long I would have continued on going to school everyday and being bullied and being alone with nobody to talk to. I honestly felt like a part of me was dying every single day and now I just feel as if everything is going to be all right. You kinda saved me Blaine. Did you know that?"
Blaine slept on.
