Chapter 2
Percy's P.O.V.
I looked into the electric blue eyes I knew so well and smiled. It was Thalia and she hadn't even looked up yet but when she did she looked pissed. For a second I was a little scared but that changed when she looked up and saw who I was. Her eyes light up with excitement, surprise, and a little bit of confusion. A big smile spread across her face and she wrapped me in a fierce hug which I was happy to return squeezing back just as hard. It was great to see Thalia again I hadn't realized how much I missed her. When we finally pulled apart Thalia was the first one to say anything.
"When did you get here cuz?" (Sorry my southern came out)
I was to answer her back when an angelic voice cut me off.
"Wait hold up what do you mean cuz?" she said adding extra emphases in a kinda country accent. Thalia smiled taking no offense but smiling in a knowing and creepy way.
"What I mean is that Percy's my cousin."
Annabeth opened her mouth to say something then seemed to think better of it glancing at me then grabbed Thalia arm and pulled her out of hearing distance.
I just stood there awkwardly not hearing a thing except for low mumble that I couldn't. I looked over at Annabeth and just studied her. I know its sound creepy but you know, no it's creepy and everyone knows it but I just couldn't help it. She was wearing grey skinny jeans, a red plaid shirt that wasn't buttoned revealing a black undershirt, black Vans, and to top it all off a grey beanie that brought her eyes out perfectly. She looked gorgeous in a casual way that just couldn't be explained even though this probably how she looked every day. I was lost in thought until Thalia's voice brought me out of it.
"Huh?" I said not hearing anything she had previously said. I finally looked over at Thalia and she just rolled her eyes, crossed her arms over her chest, and gave me a knowing look. How come she always has a knowing look? Ok no, back on track, pay attention.
"I asked you when you got here but you were too busy looking at Annabeth to pay attention." When she said those words I awkwardly cleared my throat and glanced at the ground while I felt my face heat up.
"Ummmm, I just moved here last night." I mumbled ignoring the comment about Annabeth while rubbing my neck.
"Oh ok so I'll be coming over to your house tomorrow?
"Uhhhh ok. Wait, why?" I said momentarily confused by her bluntness.
"Because I haven't seen Sally in forever and she's the best!" I smiled when Thalia said that remembering how much she loved my mom"
"Alright my mom would probably really like that. Just come on over whenever and I'll have her make your favorite for dinner."
"HOLY SHIT! You don't mean 7 layered cheese lasagna?" Thalia screamed at me with wide eyes. I laughed at her and nodded my head. Her eyes widened even more and she jumped up and down screaming YEEEEESSSSSS!
While Thalia continued on her weird little rant thing about my mom's lasagna I took the chance to look at Annabeth. I could see her cheeks slightly filled up with air trying not to laugh at Thalia. When she composed herself and blew the air out settling on a soft smile I couldn't help but sub-consciously looking at her lips while biting my bottom one. Annabeth noticed me looking at her and seemed to flush with embarrassment looking away also biting her lip. I smirked at her actions but the quickly went away when she suddenly turned back and looked my right in the eyes staring at me just like before but this one seemed different, more intense. She stared at me with her guarded gaze and for a second it slipped away giving me a quick glance at what is really going on in her head and it made me want to drop everything and kiss her right then and there not caring about a thing. I resisted the urge and we just kept staring until we were rudely interrupted by Thalia.
"Okay love birds time to get to class the warning bell just rang." I was still looking at Annabeth and her eyes got wide.
" Oh my god, I can't be late" Annabeth said before running of as fast as she could not once looking back. Thalia just rolled her eyes and took off after Annabeth telling me bye over her shoulder. I still stood there in my Annabeth enhanced trance until the final/ late bell rang drawing me out of my thoughts as I ran as fast I could without getting lost heading to class. I ran to the class barging in lucky that the teacher didn't lock the door. The teacher looked really shocked, the girls eyes were raking over me ,like they wanted to rape me, the guys were looking at me weird, and Annabeth had a small smile on her face. Wait, Annabeth? I didn't know she was even in this class and it looks like today is my lucky day because it looks like the only seat left is right next to Annabeth. I smirked and started walking towards her when a nasally voice starting talking behind me.
"Ahhh, Mr. Jackson?" the nasally voice said as I turned around.
"Yes ma'am I said giving I said giving her my best charming smile. She was unaffected and just frowned a curious and surprised look on her face.
"When I was told about your academic grade in this class I was expecting someone a little more, well let's just say different." She said inspecting me up and down.
"Uhhh Ok?" I answered unsurely a little freaked out and offended.
"Just go sit down next to Mrs. Chase" the teacher said lazily pointing over at Annabeth who was trying to hold back a laugh.
'Yes ma'am" I said saluting to her and walking to the seat. As I was walking I heard the class softly laughing and when I sat down and the teacher turned to start class Annabeth started whispering to me.
"So… academic grade huh? She said still holding back a laugh.
"Yeah, I don't mean to brag or anything but I'm pretty good at Biology." I said putting my feet on the desk and leaning back in my chair. That's when a real and true smile lite up Annabeths face and I was mesmerized.
"Jackson" I heard jumping surprised by the sudden noise and then I felt the cold hard ground. I look around the room looking at all the kids laughing and then I realized thatv had fallen. I was starting to feel embarrassed until I heard a twinkling sound beside me. My head quickly turned to see Annabeth laughing, her happiness just making her look like she was glowing. Then she stopped laughing and smiled at me holding out her hand offering to help me up. I grabbed her hand the tinglings ran up arm wrapping my heart in its warmth. I think Annabeth felt it to because as soon as I was up she quickly let go looking at me weird before turning to look at her notes. I didn't hear another word from her the rest of class.
Annabeth's P.O.V.
Throughout the whole day I couldn't help but think about the tingles I got from Percy's touch. I'm still thinking about it even as I'm walking home from school. I was drawn out of my thoughts by someone calling my name.
"Annabeth, hey" Percy said slightly out of breath from catching up with me. "I thought I'd walk with you because we were walking the same way." He gave me a charming slightly nervous smile. Wait was he nervous that I'd say no or something. I just nodded my head and kept walking. We walked in comfortable silence with our arms slightly brushing as we walked sending tingles up them making my heart skip and a small smile to cross my face each time. A small breeze came by making me shiver. Damn, why did I forget my jacket in my locker? I guess Percy saw my shiver because he took his jacket off and put it around my shoulders and gave me a small smile.
"Thanks" I said giving a small smile in returned
"No problem" he said giving me a crooked smile that can only be explained as adorable. I took a deep breath to get rid of those thoughts only to have Percy's intoxicated scent to evade my brain filling it with even more thoughts. I was so caught up in my thoughts that I hadn't realized that we had stopped at my house. I turned to look at Percy but he was already looking at me in confusion.
"What?" I said extremely confused as to why he was looking at me like that.
"You live here" Percy said his confusion now turning to shock and hope.
"Uh, yeah why?" I already have a growing suspicion as to why but it doesn't hurt to ask.
"Cause I live right there he said pointing to the house directly beside mine. Yup, suspicion conformed I thought trying to make myself feel better when I was starting to be filled with panic. What if he sees or hears what happens and finds out? Would it be could or bad? So many questions were flying through my head but then stopped as Percy's voice drew me out of them.
"Annabeth, are you okay?" I was shocked with the amount of concerned and care he had for me in such a short time. I gave him a genuine smile.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Look I gotta go see you soon. I said waving back at a shocked Percy hearing him give a short reply before turning around and walking to his house.
When I walked into my house I was shocked to see my mom standing there with her hands on her hips and a dis approving look on her face. What i she doing here? She's not supposed to be here till tomorrow. Every time she goes on a business trip I always know when they b egin and when they end because I always look forward to her being gone.
"Hello dear" my mothered sneered at me from where she was standing.
"What are you doing here so soon you're not supposed to be here till tomorrow?" I asked coldly glaring at her from across the room.
"What no hello? I've missed you so very much darling." She walked up to me and the uncaring expression on my face turned into one of fear and she saw it, smiled and before I could defend myself she slapped me across the face. The force of the blow got me off balance but I was able to catch myself and stand back up to face her.
"You ungrateful child, when will you ever learn?" she screamed in my face then she spun on her heel and walked out the door. Probably going to work or something and that I was grateful for.
When I saw her car leave from the garage I picked my backpack up from where I left it and went up the stairs to my room. I got my homework out but I just couldn't concentrate on anything but the dull sting that I've been used to for a while now.
Percys P.O.V.
When I got home I looked around the house for my mom and found her in the living room. She was typing away on the computer I just walked away knowing it was no use to try and talk to her. When she gets in her writing mojo she gets lost in her thoughts and there's nothing but her and whatever she's writing about.
I climbed up the stairs to my room and put my backpack on the floor by my messy bed. I plopped on my bed closed my eyes and drifted into sleep which was sadly filled with dreams.
