Chapter 8: "Blank Paper"
"And then, at the pool, we decided to try the slide and—"
"—Thanks for waiting, sir. Here's your special set A and banana smoothies."
"Eh?"
"Oh, finally." Keima grabbed the food and pass the banana smoothies to Tenri who's sitting next to him, near the window.
The girl blinked her eyes to bring herself to consciousness and then looked around. She was aghast when she saw different scenery of her surrounding. It turns out that they're no longer in her flat room but in a family restaurant. "Ke—Keima-kun?"
"Ah, you want some?" Keima picked a chicken fillet with his chopsticks and offerred it to Tenri.
"Eeh?"
"It's alright. I got plenty."
"Uh… No, thanks," she rejected. "Why are we here, Keima-kun?"
Keima chomped the filet into his mouth and rolled his eyes. He gulped it down before he said, "I was hungry. I barely eat anything today…"
"…"
"And you just couldn't stop talking that long-ass narration!" Keima pointed at her before he calmed himself. "I could just eat at your place, but the delivery service is unavailable today."
"U—uwah. I-is that so? I'm sorry Keima-kun…" She muttered.
"You should fix that habit you know. You can't drown into flashback that deep."
"Understood. I'm sorry, Keima-kun."
"Now aren't you back to your timid self…" Keima sighed. "Anyways, what happened then?"
"Huh?"
"What happened at the pool?"
Tenri skipped a heartbeat. Her eyes were opened more than usual. "Keima-kun, you didn't remember?"
"No," he answered. Even after the second try, he couldn't call it. Not even after he put his hand to his temple to enhance his effort. "… Not at all! What's actually happened? Tenri. Why I can't remember anything at the pool?"
The black-haired girl only frowned at his response. "Is that so…"
"Seems so. It's unusual for me to forget things. Was it important?"
"… It was…"
"Will you tell me?"
Tenri shook her head slightly. "No. It'd be better if you forget it."
"..."
"I'm going home, Keima-kun. Please don't come again."
Keima didn't react. Looks like he was still struggling to remember the past. He only realized that he was alone after a while. "She has left, huh."
He stared to his left where Tenri was sitting a while ago. "After telling me all that in such cold manner, you still finish the smoothies…" He sweatdropped.
…
Keima decided to be good. He went straight to his apartment after his yet another fail attempt to conquer Tenri. Indeed he failed, but it didn't take out his will to finish his mission. There was, however, another thing that's bugging him thanks to his visit to Tenri's: The fact the he absolutely can't remember anything at the pool. Therefore, soon as he enterred his room, he stormed his laptop and browse his explorer, hoping to find a glimpse of what happened during that time at the pool. However, even after spending his night for searching, he still couldn't find anything. Before he know it, the sunrise already enterred his room through the window.
"Ugh, it's morning already…" He sighed. "How the heck did I forget something important?"
"… I have a class… Tch."
He was still in his normal clothes, so he quickly went to the wardrobe to get changed. Suddenly something struck his mind the moment he locked the room.
"Wait. Tenri said, 'she' was there right? Maybe she remembers!"
With that, Keima's next stop is obvious.
Haqua Herminium.
A/n: The reason I don't continue this fic for a year are: I was busy, I want to finish my top priority fics, and I didn't have any idea what to write. I decided to continue The Reeling again now that my top priority fics are finished. However, the number of words will be cut down due to my tight schedule... I'll take things slowly, but sure. Please bear with me.
Anyways, the ending of the manga was great eh? Tamiki is genius.
oh please review! I'm sorry for my bad English tho.
