'How dare that half-breed dare touch what was his?!'

Sesshomaru tried to suppress the rage that tore through his body. He felt his father grab his shoulder to calm him. It was a losing battle against his beast. Sesshomaru pushed his father from him and rushed toward Inuyasha.

I was having such a great time with Inuyasha when he was ripped away by Sesshomaru. At least, it looked liked Sesshomaru, but something was wrong with him. Inu Taisho grabbed my wrist and pulled me away from the scene. Sesshomaru had Inuyasha by his neck on the nearest wall.

"What is he doing to Inuyasha?!"

My father was at my side in an instant.

"What is the meaning of this Inu Taisho?"

"I apologize for this, but Lycans cannot control their instincts. Sesshomaru believes Inuyasha is trying to claim Princess Kagome as his own. Lycans can be extremely territorial, especially when it comes to our mates. Do not touch them for they will kill who they believe are challenging them for what is theirs."

I saw a green substance leaking from Sesshomaru's claws and into Inuyasha's neck, suffocating him.

"Its poison! He's hurting Inuyasha!"

I pulled my arm free from Inu Taisho's grip and walked over to Sesshomaru. I carefully placed my hand on Sesshomaru's shoulder.

"Sesshomaru, stop!"

Sesshomaru stilled and turned towards me and I gasped. His eyes were as red as burning coals, the markings on his face were jagged, and his hands, that were once wrapped gently around my waist, were now claws coated in Inuyasha's blood. I was truly afraid of Sesshomaru as this monster and I backed away. Sesshomaru dropped Inuyasha and advanced on me. I turned to see Inu Taisho stopping my father from interfering.

"I'm alright papa."

Sesshomaru raised his hand to my face and I placed my hand on his.

"Mine." he growled, but his voiced sounded different, primal.

My eyes widened in fear.

"Submit."

I looked to my father and I knew what I had to do. I channeled all my energy toward the raging Prince Sesshomaru.

As the last note left my lips, I could tell Sesshomaru was under my spell for he was frozen and his will was under my command to do with as I wish. I had the power to compel anyone to do what I wanted. My father discovered this "gift" as I child when I compelled my mother and Kikyo to foolishly dance around during one of our lessons. I was discouraged use my gift during lessons thereafter. I subdued Sesshomaru long enough for Inu Taisho to restrain him and carry him off.

"Tsk. Tsk. Such an animalistic display." Kikyo commented with her nose turned up in disgust.

Bankotsu and I glared at Kikyo.

"Kikyo. It is time for us to retire. Sister, have a pleasant evening."

I bid Bankotsu farewell. As the coronation commenced, too many emotions coursed through for me to enjoy myself. I walked to the gardens to be alone. I looked up to the night sky praying for the courage to continue my duty for my clan.

"Kagome."

I turned to see Inuyasha.

"Don't ever get in between us again Kagome, you could have been killed! We lose total control once our beast takes over. Though Sesshomaru doesn't lose control like that."

I turned toward Inuyasha, my mouth open in anger. I just saved his life and he comes out here to scold me!

"Thanks. For whatever you did to Sesshomaru. It was kinda funny."

"How was that display humorous in any way? You could have died!"

"I'm a lot tougher than you think. There's not even a scratch."

I walked closer to study his neck. Inuyasha was right, not even a scratch.

"How…?"

"Like I said Princess, I'm a lot tougher than I look."

I turned away from Inuyasha, a little embarrassed.

"Look, I'm sorry about laughing. Now do you wanna get back to this party so Rin could stop pestering me all night about you."

I laughed and followed Inuyasha back into the ball.
