Woe Is Me

~Chapter 2

"No. No way" I say. "No way in hell am I going in the sewers. Nope. Nuh uh. No. You can't make me."

"Sofia" Leon starts. I shake my head, "Nope. I wouldn't even do it for a box of Twinkies and heaven knows how much I love those little spongy rectangular pastries of creamy goodness."

Leon sighs, "Would you do it for two boxes?"

Did he really just say that? Is that his tactic of bargaining? Pfft, Scooby Doo much? Folding my arms over my chest I shake my head again. "Like, no way." Now, I don't want to beep my own horn but, beep beep beep, my Shaggy impression was top notch.

"Alright. 3 boxes."

I scoff. As if. "Sorry. No amount of Twinkies is making me go down there." I hear Helena sigh. "Fine. Stay here" she says. I turn to her, giving her my best glare. "What's your problem?"

"My problem is we need to get out here and you're only making things worse!"

Oh no, she did not, this bitch. "Man, fuck you-"

"Enough!" Leon shouts. I mean he literally shouts. It was like damn… shut me up. He steps close, his gaze hard. "There's no time to argue Sofia. Either you go down there or I'll drag you down there myself."

I gulp. His voice was low and calm but he was mad. I could see it in his flaming eyes and solemn face. "There's a horde of infected headed our way" Helena says. Crap. That's the last thing I needed. Ugh, fine!

I sigh deeply, rolling my eyes, and move toward the stupid sewer entrance thing. It was already uncovered. Oh boy, I really hope no one else had the same idea of the sewers being safe. I lower myself and groan in disgust at the nasty repugnant smell of human waste and I don't know what else lingering in the air. Oh man. Ugh. Here goes. I frown and jump inside.

Jeez it's dark down here; should've grabbed a flashlight. Oh wait, there's one in my pocket. I reach into the pocket of my hoodie and pull out my iPhone, turning on the small flashlight. Ha ha, success!

I straighten from my kneeling position and walk off a few steps, flashing my light around. Gross, the sewers; it's so… icky. It stinks twice as bad as it did up on the surface. Maybe it had something to do with the sewage waste or the nasty green stuff on the walls but either way, yuck. It didn't help none the air down here was cold and clammy.

Upon hearing two thuds behind me, I turn. Whoa. Helena was in Leon's arms. How the hell did that happen? Wait a minute, scratch that. I don't care. It's not important. What was important was the tension between them.

Damn! Now I know there's something between them! It was so obvious! It wasn't just in the way they were looking at each other, no. I-it was in their body language too! Leon's holding onto Helena like… like… he doesn't want to let go or something, man I don't even know! It was just intense! Feverish! Just… just… ugh, what's another word in the vernacular… oh! Sexual! Yes! They want each other! Anyone can clearly see it! The sexual tension… the lust in their eyes… damn!

"I'm fine." Helena suddenly steps back, turning away as she reaches up to her ear and turns on a light. She must have a flashlight attached to her head piece or something. She keeps her back turned. Heh, she's blushing. I know she is. She's blushing and trying to hide it. I bet all the Twinkies in the world that's what she's doing.

I glance at Leon whose gaze remains on her. I can distinctly see a small frown. Aw. I hold back a snicker. This is just too funny. These two are acting like a couple of lovesick teenage virgins, not knowing what to do, what to say, how to act. Ha! Too funny, and cute, can't forget cute.

A loud inhuman groan makes me jump; the fuck? Along with Leon and Helena, I look up to the hole we jumped through. It came from the surface. The groan intensifies and expands. It shakes me to the core and I shudder. There's a sound I'm never going to forget.

"We should hurry." That was Helena. I turn back to find she was already a few steps ahead. She stops as Leon speaks. "What's the matter? Not a fan of sewers?" She turns back, her light illuminating Leon's face. The two look at each other. Okay, I'm confused. Are they having a moment or…?

"Come on, let's just get to the cathedral, and then I'll tell you everything."

Hold on. What did that mean? What am I missing? What's the deal with the cathedral? What's going on? Somebody needs to start talking. I clear my throat. "I need some answers and I'm not taking another step until one of you tells me what's going on."

I look at Leon, figuring he would provide an answer. His gaze is set straight ahead but it appears he's not looking at anything. Oh great, he's spacing out. Really? Tch, he sure picked a hell of a time to do that. Guess it was up to Helena to tell me.

"Well?" I beckon. She looks at me and gives a sigh. "There's a lead to what caused all of this in the cathedral. That's why we're going."

"You and Leon" I say. "And you" Leon speaks. Guess he came back. Pushing that aside, I shake my head. "But I have nothing to do with this." He turns to me. I feel his hand on my shoulder. "It's unfortunate but you are involved." That being the only reason or explanation I was going to get, I'm sure of it, he looks at Helena. "It's gonna be a tough road."

She says nothing and turns away. Leon gives a small barely audible sigh. If I wasn't standing next to him I never would have heard it. He then looks at me. "Are you ready?" I want to scream and shout, tell him that this was crazy and that in no shape or form was I ready, but all I do is nod. What else am I supposed to do? It's like he said, I'm involved. Before I can voice my thoughts he moves next to Helena.

"Let's get moving. We don't have much time."

"Certainly got our work cut out for us."

"Believe me, I know."

Hmm. Something tells me to get used to this, being left out of conversations. This was about them. This was their mission. And me, well… I'm just unlucky to be here. This is just a case of misfortune; a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm just cargo.

"Sofia" Leon calls. I sigh. "I know, I know. I'm coming." Shining my light ahead of me I follow them down the steps, watching as they both step into the water like it was absolutely nothing. Disgusting! I groan. That water is filthy, ugh! Like hell I'm setting foot in it and ruining my converse! And don't even get me started on soggy socks, I hate soggy socks!

The splashing of Leon and Helena's steps stop suddenly. I look up to see them both staring at me. "It's just water" Leon says. He must have seen the disgusted look on my face or sensed my hesitation or both.

I scoff. "It's shitty water. That's just nasty. Plus, I'm a student… or I was… whatever, my point is I'm poor. These are the only shoes I own. No way am I ruining them." His lips curve slightly into a smile. "If I didn't know any better I'd say that iPhone in your hand says different." I send a mean glare his way. "Shut up."

"There's a pathway to your left" Helena speaks up. "It doesn't look like it's been touched by the water." I shine my light and sure enough there it was a water free concrete path. Their footsteps start up again. I sigh. "Better get my three boxes of Twinkies" I say as I take the trail.

Leon's chuckle echoes. Hmph. This is no laughing matter. I am totally serious about those three boxes. My stomach growls. Ah hell, I'm hungry. Crap! Oh what I would give just to have a Twinkie in my mouth right now! Ah that soft creamy goodness. My taste buds are going wild and my mouth is watering just thinking about them.

Prying my mind away from food, I follow Leon and Helena all the way down and past a corner where we come up to a red door. Huh. That's certainly a random color for a door sitting underground, but I can see why it's colored, it's easier to spot.

The door opens with a creak. Is there not a door left on this earth that doesn't creak upon opening? Sheesh. I watch Leon and Helena jump down. She looks to the left and he looks to the right then turns to me with a quick bob of the head, his gun ready at his side. I'm going to take that as a signal that everything's cool.

I approach the edge of the walkway and jump down onto the gravel. Wait, gravel? I shine my light on the ground. There's a rail. Oh I see. We're in the subway, headed to the station most likely.

My light follows the rail. "This way" Helena's voice echoes. I look back to see they're headed down the opposite direction. What's wrong with going this way? A rat skitters past my feet making me jump back. Yuck, EW! It almost touched me!

I follow it with my light. It's running towards a large puddle. As soon as it touches the water it squeals as it's electrocuted. Holy crap! I spot a cable box on the wall. Oh… the water must be over the cables and the voltage must be on high. Yeah, not going that way. Left it is!

I jog to catch up to Leon. He glances back at me. "I thought you understood to stay close." His tone sounds scornful. "You don't know what dangers lurk down here." Well I guess he has a point. I don't know what's down here. And this place was just so creepy, it's scary. It screams murder! I keep expecting freaking Jason Voorhees or even Michael Myers to pop out from some dark shadow.

Tch. I'm dealing with zombies and I'm worried about fucking fictitious serial killers? Well zombies are supposed to be fiction too, so can you really blame me? I hear an eerie moan. Oh man this place is putting me on edge. I hum but stop suddenly at a bang. The hell was that? I hum louder.

"Sofia" Leon starts. "Hey man, this place is giving me the heebie jeebies. Humming calms me down so piss off" I say on the defense. "So you hum the Halloween theme song to stay calm?" Helena questions.

I blink. "Was I? Huh. I was thinking about how creepy a setting this place gives. It's perfect for Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees to come hunting for victims, that's probably what, caused me to hum that…" I trail off.

I hear Helena scoff. "Those two have nothing against Leather face." I laugh at her remark. "As long as you don't bring in Chucky" I say. "Hey now" Leon speaks up. "He's not that bad." Helena and I scoff. "He's like three feet tall" I say. "Plus, you can just kick him away" Helena adds. "He has the element of surprise" Leon retorts. "No one ever expects a doll to come to life." Helena chuckles.

Our prater comes to an end as an inhuman groan echoes, much like before. A bang sound soon after. What the hell was that? It sounds like someone is hitting a pole, quite hard might I add, repetitively.

I swallow the lump in my throat as my forgotten fear returns. Oh hell. Whose bright idea to head through the sewers was this? I swear if something jumps out at me I'm going to scream like a little girl. "Can we run?" I ask suddenly. I'm shocked too but I really just want to get the hell out of here. "Yeah" Leon says. "Come on."

As we run I shine my light ahead but all I see is darkness, aside from the occasional light on the ceiling or walls. Geez, how long was this tunnel? How do we even know we're going the right away? The other way may have been electrified but it could've been the right way. Forget following the rail, it goes both ways, same for the cables.

Something else suddenly comes to mind. I'm just noticing this now but I haven't seen a single zombie since coming down here. Should I be worried? I hear a gurgling snarl. Oh never mind. There they are. What timing.

We stop and pant. Two zombies stand just up ahead. From the corner of my eye I see Helena raise her gun. I can only assume Leon is doing the same. "Shouldn't you save your ammo?" I breathe out. More groans and snarls sound. Shit. "Doesn't sound like an option right now" Leon says. Shots are fired. I feel the ground rumble; an earthquake? Underground?

I see two beams of light and hear a loud whistle. Oh shit. "Train's coming!" Helena shouts. Oh shit! I turn to run and grunt as a force pushes me forward. I fall face flat on the ground. The snarling moan lets me indicate a zombie has pushed me down. Fucking undead!

The train whistle grows louder and sounds closer. "Sofia!" I hear though I can' tell who it is. "Freeze it!"

What? Freeze the train? Can I do that? I've never frozen something so big before, well just a car but that's nothing compared to a train.

"Sofia, now!"

Gah! Closing my eyes and willing everything I have, I flick my hands. Oh god, let my death be quick! I feel nothing. What gives? Did I die this time? I open my eyes. Shizznuts! The zombie on top of me is frozen, not just him but the train too! Whoa, it actually worked!

"Sofia!"

I jump from the sudden voice. Leon and Helena stand above me. They each take a hold of my arms and pull me out from under the zombie. "Cutting it kinda close" Helena says, "You alright?" I nod as I roll onto my knees. "Yeah, but we better move fast" I breathe out.

Helena runs toward the wall of the tunnel. Leon pulls me to my feet and leads me away. The wall is cold against my back as I press myself up against it. The train unfreezes blurring past us with a small cold breeze, taking the zombie that had tried to make me road kill with it. Once it's gone, I exhale and remove myself from the wall.

"Everyone alright?" Helena questions. Too shocked to say anything from what just happened, I merely nod my answer. I just can't believe I actually managed to freeze a train. I thought I learned everything there was about these, I don't know what to call them, powers I guess but-

I feel myself yanked from my thoughts by a firm shake. "You okay?" Leon questions. I nod. "Yeah, yeah. I'm fine. It's just… I've never frozen something so big before." He nods. "You did well for your first time then" he says. "Let's keep moving. It's never good to linger in one place for so long."

My phone lies on the ground a few feet ahead; must've dropped it when that damn zombie grabbed me. I pick it up and clean it off. It still works, phew.

Heading deeper into the tunnel, I shudder at a blood curling scream. Yet another sound I won't be forgetting anytime soon. Well so much for keeping it together and my emotions intact. I barely manage to get over my shock and now I'm on edge again. Ugh.

Up ahead I see a barrel caught on fire. Leon and Helena stop and stand by it. "What-" I say as I catch up but stop as Leon hushes me. I frown. That motherfu- wait, what's that sound? I hear it clearly but I don't see anything even with the light provided by the fire. It's too foggy. Oh this can't be good. According to scary movies, fog means trouble.

The noise continues. It sounds like claws scraping against cement. Something's scampering down here. A growl sounds behind me. I jump but stay in place. Oh shit, this can't be good. I shriek suddenly as Leon hits something with the butt of his gun. Whatever it was whimpers. Fuck this. I freeze it quickly.

Helena cries out suddenly. Leon rushes past me and kicks whatever is attacking her off. I freeze it. There are two of these things? At a snarl, I spin around, freezing a third creature. Fuck, there are three. I hope it stays at that number.

I shine my light on the closest one. It looks like some kind of animal. It's decaying. Its fur and flesh were gone. I can see the muscle tissue and veins, even the spinal column. Gross! "Ugh, what the hell are they?"

I look to Leon and see him pulling Helena up. "Infected dogs" he sighs. Infected? "With what?" I ask. He shakes his head, "A virus. But it's one I don't recognize." He let's go of Helena's hand and walks forward. Virus? What? What kind of virus? Just what the hell is going on? "No, wait" I say. "What do you mean?"

"Now isn't the time Sofia" Leon replies. No. Uh uh. He's not getting off that easy. I need to know what's going on. Quickly blowing up the dogs, I freeze both Leon and Helena and move to stand in front of them, unfreezing only their heads.

The two gasp, surprised no doubt of me suddenly standing in front of them. Helena grunts. "I can't move." Leon shoots me an icy glare. "What have you done to us Sofia?"

"Relax. I froze you."

"Well unfreeze us!" Helena growls. Such malice in her eyes. Damn. "I will" I say. "After one of you explains to me what's going on. How did this all happen?" Leon drops his glare as he sighs. "History is repeating itself. That's what happening."

I lift an eyebrow, willing him to explain. He sighs again. "Fifteen years ago a pharmaceutical company called Umbrella unleashed a virus. It killed everybody in Raccoon City, only… only they didn't stay dead."

The image of that event rises from the depths of my mind where I buried it long ago. I remember all of the horrors; the chaos, people screaming and running amok, the fires, the monsters, and everything just falling apart.

I grit my teeth and fold my arms over my chest. Is he insinuating that catastrophic event was because of a virus and it's been around for fifteen years? "It all started on that day" he continues, "On my first day on the force."

Damn. What a way to start a career. "First day as a cop and you had to deal with that. What bad luck" I say. He gives a small chuckle. "Don't I know it? Since then many more deadly viruses have been created and manufactured, all with the ploy to destroy the world. I've been fighting against these terrorists all these years."

I shake my head. This was all just so… crazy. How could this all happen? It's just… quirky. "So all of this is just bio terrorism? And what's happening now is just a repeat of Raccoon City?" He nods. "Yes. Our objective is to catch the one responsible and put a stop to it."

"Will you unfreeze us now?" Helena speaks up. I nod. The two exhale as I release them with a simple flick of my finger. "Never do that again" Helena says. "Let's go" Leon adds.

And so we move on, nowhere to go but forward, right? I follow after the two in silence, trying to piece together the new information I just received with my memories. So it was all because of a virus created by man? Well that makes sense. Anything created by man is harmful in one way or another.

I sigh at a scream. I'm so tired of hearing those disturbing haunting screams. I hear it again. It sounds like a man. Not just that but it sounded close, real close. Could it be? I run past Leon and Helena.

The screams grow louder. I slide to a stop as I come across a zombie munching away on a man in a business suit. A gunshot sounds and the zombie stumbles back. I rush to the man's side and kneel down, pressing my fingers on his neck to feel for a pulse. Nothing. Damn. Too late.

With a sigh, I look to Leon who was kicking zombie ass. Helena faced the other way, I'm assuming to keep an eye out. I start at another sound. Was that a train whistle? Looking up, I seem two beams of light. Shit, it's coming fast! I jump to my feet, "Guys!"

Leon and Helena turn. It's coming too fast. They're not going to make it. I hear them gasp as the train stops suddenly just inches away. They breathe a sigh of relief and bob theirs heads in thanks at my direction, running off to the nearest wall soon after. I do the same and unfreeze the train. Its whistle blows loudly as it passes.

I can't wait to get out of here; the quicker the better. I'm so over this. In fact I'm sick of it. Moving quickly, I follow after my two companions. It's almost over. It's almost over. I jump from a sudden beep. What was that? Another zombie? Infected dog? Beep. Oh man, it sounds so close, like its right in front of me. Beep. Gah! Beep. Oh wait, wait, it's just my phone. I look at the screen. Crap! Only five percent battery left, no! Damn it all!

"Watch out!"

I gasp from a sudden force pulling me back. What the hell? Leon stands behind me. I blink. "What?" He let's go of my hoodie and beckons forward. I follow his gaze. My stomach sinks. How the hell did I miss the puddle with the sparkling electricity?! One more step and I could have ended just like that rat. Guess I owe Leon again.

Damn. So where do we go from here? At a snarl I turn. Oh great, more infected. Five zombies were running down this direction. I grunt as I'm pulled back. "Over here" Leon says. To the left was a door. Huh, I didn't see that before. I watch as Helena and Leon kick the door in.

As soon as I enter I hear that repetitive banging. I still don't know what that is. Maybe it's better for me not to know. My light suddenly flickers off. And my phone's dead. No! "Shit!" I hiss. It's suddenly dark.

"Great… how's that for timing?"

"Mine's out too. I'm almost blind here."

Darkness… darkness everywhere. Why? Why must this happen? Can't something go right for once?! But wait! Is that a light I see?! Helena's light flickers on. Oh yes! Leon's light soon follows, flickering on and shining brightly.

I feel a hand on my shoulder and shriek. Zombie! Out of instinct I slam my phone on its head, the sound of it breaking echoes. No! Crap! Damn it! Why?! Growling, I take my dagger and stab the zombie's head. "Stupid corpse, you broke my phone!" I stab it again.

"Enough Sofia" Leon says. I glare. "You shut your whore mouth!" Whoa. That's exactly what Leon's expression says. Yeah, that may have been way out of line. I sigh. "Sorry… it's just… my phone…" I sniffle and walk away. Oh my phone. It shall be missed.

Coming across another red door I sigh. Oh joy, more tunnels. Whoopee. Going through I see a train on my right blocking the way. Left it is. I take the lead looking around. Hmm. This tunnel is nothing but darkness.

Hold the phone. I blink. Do my eyes deceive me? Is that light? Yay! Let us go into the light! I run but stop suddenly as I see shadows, several of them. Oh hell. Not good. A fuckload of zombies were making their way down.

"This is a nightmare."

Psh, you can say that again Helena. I gulp as the undead close in. Shots are fired and I commence blasting. Leon flings himself to the ground as a zombie lunges at him. Helena dodges an attack in a side roll. "Look out! Train!"

What? A sudden gush of wind knocks me down. Whoa, geez! I look back to the rushing train. Well at least the infected were taken care of. But sheesh, where the hell did it come from? I turn my head. Oh. This section of the tunnel was divided in two. The train must have been coming instead of going. Man, we got lucky.

I get up, time to go. I run, ugh, so much running. We reach the train as it shuts down. Oh yeah, nice, just block our path. Tch. I watch as Helena climbs up the pavement and tries the door to the train.

"It's locked, but I could open it from the inside. I wanna have a look around in there. Boost me up on top." She jumps down. Leon lets out a short humorless laugh. "Just don't leave us behind." He moves to stand in front of her by the train, his hands folded over his knee.

The hell are they doing? Helena places her foot in his hands. The two grunt as he vaults her up onto the roof of the train. Oh… so that's a boost. "Come on" Leon says. I look at him. He still stands in the same position. He must be joking. "Come on" he says again, beckoning with his hands.

I scoff, "As if. Do you really think you're going to get all of this," I slap my fatness around my stomach, "Up there? Get real." I half expected him to laugh or even chuckle but all he did was stare at me. Okay… awkward… just going to walk away…

The door to the train opens as I climb up the banister. "I got attacked as soon as I dropped in. keep your guard up" Helena says. I gulp as I enter. Oh this is much better, yeah, moving through an enclosed space in the dark with bodies of the possible undead playing dead sitting on either side of the train. I look around. Fuck this. I'm getting the hell out of here.

I run down the car and force the door open to the second cart. A scream echoes. Oh boy. Need to keep moving. I run down to the third cart. How long is this damn train?! Pushing the door open I smile. Finally! A way out! I step in and jump down the large hole on the side of the cart.

Whew. No more closed space. This is much better. At least there's room to fight if need be. I look back. Wha- where are Leon and Helena? Weren't they behind me? A groan sounds from my left. Holy- the zombie freezes in mid swing. I lower my hands and exhale, that was close.

The fuck man, they're armed now?! Damn zombie, you nearly took my head off! Where the hell did you get an axe from anyway? I take the axe from its hands and swing it with force, hitting the head with a sickening crack. I grin. Awesome.

I take the axe back, removing it with a grunt. Another zombie steps from the front of the train. Well where there's one there's bound to be more. With its arms outstretched, he staggers toward me. I look at the axe in hand and smirk. I've always wanted to do this.

"Hyah!" I throw the axe, watching as it strikes the head with a hard thwack, knocking the zombies head back. I don't know whether to be grossed out or in awe.

"There you are."

I jump at the sudden voice. I turn and see Leon. "Dammit Leon quit doing that!" I shout. Helena walks up behind him. "Nice to see you too" she says. I clear my throat. "Sorry I ran out on you, got kind of claustrophobic." They walk past me without a word. Alright then. With a shrug, I follow.

We walk briskly. Relief washes over me as I see the subway station. Oh finally! I'm almost out! Unfortunately, my joy was short-lived as I saw the door to the exit was shut. No! Why?! Can't we catch a break here?!

I watch as Helena approaches the button, slowly. BANG! "Son of a fuck!" I shout as I jump back, my hand goes to my chest. Oh, be still my racing heart. Fucking hell… nearly shit my pants. Geez. Bang! I jump again. Oh lord 'bout to have a heart attack here!

"Hey! Hey! I need you to open this door! Hurry!"

I look back to see a middle aged dark haired woman trapped inside the train. "I have to save Peter! Please!" She bangs her fists against the door in desperation. Poor woman. "Come on, we have to get her out of there" Leon says. Helena sighs. "We'll never get to the cathedral at this rate."

Oh, cold bitch. I move to help Leon but Helena beats me to it. The woman runs out as soon as the double doors slide open. I grunt as her shoulder bumps roughly into mine, throwing me completely off balance to which I fall over.

"Oh god, Peter! Peter, hang on! I'm coming!"

"Wait, no! Don't open that!"

She didn't. Tell me she didn't. I look up. Crap, she did. She opened the fucking door. No, no, no, no. A zombie quickly pulls her down and makes a quick meal out of her. Oh hell. I cringe from the gruesome sight.

My eyes go wide as I take in another sight, a horde of infected staggering in. Son of a fucking fuck. Leon is suddenly by my side. "Move!" he says as he pulls me up. Shot are fired as he and I take cover behind a set of crates. How convenient they were here.

The shots continue. Helena must be the one shooting. But where is she? I search and see her taking cover behind a pillar. Oh, there she is. From the corner of my eye I see Leon peek from the crate and opens fire.

Swallowing the lump in my throat, I too take a peek. A nearby zombie spurts a green liquid in my direction. In quick reaction, I duck back behind my cover. The liquid hits the ground in front of me. It sizzles and dissolves the cement. Ah fuck, the spit acid now?!

Leon ducks back down and lean against the crate, groaning a he ejects a clip from his gun. "I'm low on ammo." He looks at me. "Think you can blow them all up at once?" I shake my head. "I-I don't know, I've never tried to blow up so much at once."

I turn to Helena as she speaks. "You froze a train. I'm sure you can handle this." She steps out from behind the pillar and opens fire. Whoa, wait, was she encouraging me? "Helena's right Sofia" Leon says.

I swallow. Ah hell. Here goes nothing. Taking a quick breath, I get up and flick my hands, putting all of my will just like before, and blow the entire flock up in one blast. I exhale shorty. I actually did it.

"Nice job" Leon says as he steps out from behind the crates. "Thanks" I say and follow behind the two. We ascend up the stairs, coming up to the security junction where a single zombie stands holding an extinguisher. A shot is fired and the can explodes.

I cough as smoke fills the air spreading around the atmosphere. That wasn't very smart. I wave my hand in front of my face, clearing the smoke. "Don't do that again, whichever one of you it was."

"What are conditions like up there?" Leon says. Huh? I look at them. Pfft, they weren't even listening to me. Fine. I pass the junction and move to the gate. Street level should be up ahead. This is it. Here I come town. Oh boy.

That's all for this chapter. Like no like? Lemme know your thoughts.
