I am sorry sorry for the late update! IT was crazy since I couldn't think of what to write then I started writing other stories...I'm sorry! Here's the next chapter!
The next day, HALLOWEEN!
All the citizens of Halloween Town put on their best scariest display, trying to scare anyone they could. Even Safiya made a little appearance and watched as the citizens spread the scariest cheer they know. But none could imitate the pumpkin king, once again Jack prevailed that he is the greatest soul creeper known in history. But Safiya could tell that he still wasn't as happy as he should be. The ending festivities took place in the City Hall, where the mayor always gives out scary awards and he always saves the best for last.
"And now for the award The Most Spine Tingled in a single evening, it goes to none other than our glorious pumpkin king, Jack Skellington!" Jack stepped out into the spot light and everyone clapped and cheered for him, this made Jack smile and bow to his glorious nation.
"Another fantastic Halloween Jack! What would we do without you?"
"Not at all mayor! This Halloween was our most horrifying yet! Thank you everyone!" He bowed again and again as he stepped back and the curtain closed in front of him. He relaxed his arms and sighed sadly.
"It's still not enough. It still feels…so…so…similar. We need to do it more frightening, more terrifying, and more gruesome! Halloween can't go on like this. I can't go on like this." He sighed and shook his head. "Jack, what are you going to do?"
He left the Town Hall once everyone has departed home. In his thinking mode, he needed to find a way to make Halloween more exciting for everyone and himself but a familiar voice broke his trance. "I expect nothing else from the pumpkin king about tonight."
He looked up and saw Safiya sitting on the rim of the green liquid fountain. She smiled at him, she loved watching him at the Halloween celebration, him scaring the living day lights out of people brought a sexier side of him she liked.
"Safiya! You came!" He went to her. "Well of course, I wouldn't miss it now would I?"
"I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself. And I'm more glad that you came" He grabbed her hands with excitement once again and Safiya stood on the rim of the fountain so she can be around his height.
"You're still not satisfied with Halloween are you?" Safiya asked him.
"O-Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?"
"Because you can't fool me."
"It's just…Halloween needs to be more gruesome, more terrifying. But I can't think of anything!"
Safiya sighed as she listened to Jack.
"I need to go back out there! I need to search for new ideas!" He let go of her hands and spun around to exaggerate his excitement, then he felt an instant glare from Safiya. He looked at her and she saw her arms crossed together. "O-Of course, I will not enter Christmas town nor anywhere else. All my new ideas will be original! I give you my word as the pumpkin king!"
Safiya shook her head with a smile. "As long as you don't enter any other doors, and I will know if you do, then I guess there's nothing wrong with that."
"Perfect! I knew you would be on my side!" Jack hugged Safiya with his long boney arms.
"I never said I was on your si"-
"I have to go, Doctor Finkelstein is waiting for me. Next time you see me I'll be just bursting with ideas so be sure you are ready for anything!" Jack ran off with those last words.
"Jack!" Safiya yelled at him but she knew he wouldn't hear her. "Why can't you just open your eyes and see what's in front of you?"
Jack left the next day without saying a word, Doctor Finkelstein announced the pumpkin king will be back shortly to bring new ideas. The citizens nodded, they knew they can trust the pumpkin king and he'll be back before they miss him.
A month has past, still no word from Jack. The citizen were starting to worry, and a strange feeling started to occur in everyone's bones…to those who still had them. Safiya was in her cabin in the middle of the forest, she felt the strange feeling too. Her tea time was interrupted, she lit up a lantern and quickly left her cabin to check on the doors of the holidays of old. The wind blew cold around her, it was November. She checked on the Thanksgiving door just last week, everything was fine and Jack was nowhere in sight. Just what was going on?
The dry leaves crushed under her boots and her orange skirt blew in the wind behind her, she grabbed her hat to keep it from being blown away. When she reached the holiday doors, everything was fine. Was she possibly over reacting? She looked up at the white moon shining brightly at her, she did feel safe…but at the same time…she didn't.
"Safiya?"
Quickly she turned around and saw Sally coming from behind a tree. She was rubbing her arms together to warm herself from the cold wind…can a ragdoll even feel heat?
"Sally. What are you doing here? It's late."
"I know, but I just couldn't shake off this terrible feeling. I saw a vision but it was all blurry and I didn't understand. I wanted to come and visit but I saw you walking off so I started to follow."
Safiya quickly went to Sally and placed a hand on her shoulder. "I'm just checking on some things, come, you can stay by my place for a while. Let's go." They started to walk back to Safiya's cabin but were soon stopped in their tracks when the lantern blew out and everything was dark around them.
"Safi"-
Safiya hushed Sally, everything around them was quiet, only the wind whistled their song as the leaves danced. Suddenly they heard a dark chuckle near them and this almost made Safiya's heart stop.
"Sally, I want you to run."
"Wh-what?"
"I want you to run back to Doctor Finkelstein and lock the door. Go!" Safiya pushed Sally and Sally obeyed her orders, she ran as fast as her legs could. She didn't understand what was going on! She heard Safiya's scream and turned back to see if her friend was behind her, but instead she heard her own scream echo in the woods as she was taken into the shadows.
