(sooooooo sorry this hasn't been updated lately, shit is goin bad with my life, but hey! Val is back! and I'm here to take my place as author again!)
The Beginning of a Mystery
The following morning was great, well, as great as it could be waking up in a place filled with talking ponies and magic... not to mention being the only human. Alan rolled out of bed and pulled his blouse back on, he sighed and wished coffee existed in this realm... or even toilet paper... hell, just ONE roll would be GLORIOUS... can never have too much mountain money. Alan nodded slowly and rubbed his chin... he needed to shave... He looked around and found Rainbow Dash still asleep with light shining down on her teal fur. He smiled very lightly, sleeping ponies were cute, even for him. He walked out of the room and nearly kicked Spike on his way.
The small dragon yipped and dodged Alan's boot. The marine rolled his eyes and kept walking, straight out the front door, down a path and to the Pony Medical center thing. He pushed the doors open and ignored the nurse's orders to stop as he head down to AJ's room. He pushed passed two nurses and closed the door behind him. Apple Jack was still asleep, wrapped in Alan's dressings (aka, bandages) He approached the sleeping mare and shook her lightly. "AJ" he whispered. She didn't budge.
He continued this short process until the pony stirred and finally woke up "wha? what the hay are you doin' wakin me up? I was having a good dream" she said sleepily, not knowing it was the only human waking her up. She rubbed her eyes with one hoof and looked around until she saw the soldier.
"Oh, uh... Alan... it's you..." she said and blinked away her sleep "what're you wakin me for?" she asked as he sat down and pulled out a knife "I just wanted to see how you were, seeing as how I caused these little injuries" he said and started filing his nails. Apple Jack grunted "You can't try to apologize now, My brother is out there without me... The one time I can actually work during Apple buck Season..." she said and rubbed her head
Alan looked up curiously "whoa, what did I just hear?" he asked her. She rolled her eyes "Apple BUCK" she repeated to the ill minded human. Alan nodded a little and sat back "okay... thank god" Apple Jack face-hoofed and sighed "since you injured me, you should be the one to kick down those apples" she said and frowned. The man sat there, still not moving. with her good leg, AJ kicked Alan's back lightly "hurry up and go help MacIntosh!"
Alan shrugged and stood up "fine, fine... damn... don't hurt yourself kicking me" he said as he left...
Eventually, the childish human arrived at the plantation, where he spotted other stallions working in the "heat" as everyone else said. This weak 90 degrees isn't as nearly as bad as the heat one can get in the middle of a desert or No Man's Land.
Alan grumbled under his breath about how stupid this entire damned situation was and how badly he just wanted to shoot everything because he was tired of being here... He shrugged off his childish thoughts and continued his treck towards the red house, where he'd meet his pony and get to work with the fields.
He knocked on the door until an old pony waddled out "he-hello?" she asked, much to Alan's entertainment. She sounded just like the cartoons ALWAYS made grannies sound like. "Yes... uh, I'm here to help some Big MacIntosh with the orchard?" he asked/said to the possibly billion year old pony. She looked at him with squinting eyes "You are a very strange creature…" she said, totally ignoring what the human had said "Where are you from?" and without giving him time to really answer she just walked away…
Alan scratched his chin and shrugged "Alright then…" he grumbled and started towards Everfree. No, he didn't know what he was doing, and no, he DIDN'T care what would happen to him. He wanted to see something and despite the danger that might be in there… Well, he had his M4 to back him up.
About an hour or two into his journey, he found something of interest. It was a piece of a propeller. He crouched down and rubbed his gloved hand on it and nodded a little. He looked around a bit and found a few trees leaning towards another, this is where he'd find his downed chopper. He started walking that way, keeping an eye out on his surroundings…
They watched him. Closely, like uncomfortable staring through your soul watching. IT started to burn in the back of the marine's mind. He glanced around a little before nearly tripping over an outcropping rock. He started paying attention to where he was going instead of what was around him.
It quickly paid off as he spotted the sideways vehicle. A small grin tugged his face, it quickly faded. The wreckage still had a few bodies inside it, burned to a crisp and unrecognizable. He put a gloved hand on the hull and started looking around for anything useful, ammo, scrap, even a damned MRE would work.
His search was interrupted by the shuffling of a bush nearby. his head snapped up, quickly followed by his sidearm. "who's there?" he shouted out "show yourself, now! I will use lethal force" he said, crouching down. He pointed his pistol at the bush until something to his left moved. He had the chopper's underside to his right, he turned to face the moving object but regretted it almost instantly.
An arrow went into his right shoulder. He yelled in pain and fired a few rounds at the object that fired the arrow...
Twilight Sparkle was having a very, very, VERY boring morning. She had NOTHING to do for the day and it seriously bugged her. Sure, she could read, but her mind was filled with too many abstract things to focus on something she was reading. in fact, she had been thinking of it since yesterday, and it wasn't going to stop any time soon. She sighed a deep, boredom sigh when suddenly, the gunshots were heard. all of ponyville looked in the general direction. Twilight knew what it was.
She started running in the direction the shots were heard from, fearing Alan was under attack...
The soldier grabbed arrow and snapped it in half. He got up and ran towards the bush, firing his weapon. they were all wasted shots. No one was there anymore. He cursed to himself and looked around. He then spotted something that made his heart skip a beat. there were two rifles sticking out of the ground, each with a helmet on the butt of the weapon.
He approached slowly, now seeing there was recently disturbed dirt under and around the helmets. He picked up a helmet with his left hand and examined it. there was black sharpie on the helmet reading "Sandman". That was one of the soldiers famous for aiding in the rescue of a VIP in Europe. He put the helmet back and looked at the other helmet, this one wasn't an American used helmet, it had writing he wasn't able to read. All he knew was that it was Russian. Both of these puzzled him. Why and how had these ended up HERE? Sandman was buried alive when the mining tunnel collapsed, and the Russian helmet? It looked brand new.
The soldier backed up until he was next to the chopper again. He started back towards Ponyville. He was still being watched, but they wouldn't attack him. Alan looked down at the wound and shook his head "Damn primitive shit, hurts more than a kick to the nuts" he grumbled...
(A/N: Okay, I'm being honest right now, I'm at a TOTAL loss on where to go right now Xc well, next chapter there will either be character development OR trying to solve the mystery of the gear... Is there more than meets the eye here?)
