CHAPTER TEN: A DANGEROUS MISSION…RIGHT?
The three friends stood outside the hospital wing. Albus pulled his head from the doorway.
"He put two Hufflepuffs, a Slytherin and two Gryffindors in the hospital wing along with himself." He said. "So none of us won!"
"Wait a minute…" Erica counted her fingers and showed them. " He put five students in the hospital wing. But you dear friend forgot to count Nick himself, which makes six so…." Erica extended her hand. "You both owe me a total of 5 galleons, 10 sickles and 3 knuts."
"I swear," Callie said pulling the money from her pocket. "It's getting pretty scary how you can do that."
"Were you three betting on me?" said a voice. The three fighters turned around and saw Nick, with bandages around his head and left arm, standing in the doorway.
"Yes!" Callie said cheerfully. The other two sighed in frustration.
"Who won?" Nick asked with slight interest.
"Me." Erica said, raising her hand.
"Nice one…Future Seer."
"STOP CALLING ME THAT!" Erica mumbled a hex and pointed her wand at Nick's face. Nick grabbed his face. Callie pulled his hands away to reveal a thin cut on his chin.
"Guess my spell casting needs a little more work." Erica slid her wand back into her robe. "That is not the effect, but its close!"
"And I just got out of the hospital wing." Nick said, wiping the blood off of his cheek.
"Here" Callie said as she took a cloth out of her bag and handed it to him.
"Thanks."
"Well, now that we've taken your wands," Albus said, holding the Ravenclaws' wands in his hand. "Let's get down to business. I call the first official meeting of our little group to order!" Albus then proceeded to bang a gavel on the desk.
"Is that thing really necessary?" Callie asked as she pulled her hand away from where it had been moments before.
"Yes. Now, Nick I believe that you have some information about the missing students?" Nick stood up and held a piece of parchment in his hand.
"Okay." Erica said, standing up as well. "You two have been acting a little weird."
"In these days, we can be silly and…serious." Albus said, "Now, Red-Eye. Shoot."
"With Erica's help," Nick said, handing the parchment to Al, "I put together a list of people who went missing. They seem to be one from each house."
"Kelly Martin, Hufflepuff. Evan Knell, Ravenclaw. James Potter, Gryffindor. Isabella Alverez, Slytherin."
"Weird." Callie added.
"No speaking unless called on." Albus said, pointing his gavel at her.
"Where did you get that anyway?"
"Uncle George gave it to me. He seemed glad to get rid of-," Suddenly, the gavel burst into flame and Albus dropped it. It simmered out once it touched the ground. A note was left in its place. Erica picked it up.
"Merry Christmas, Your Uncle." She read, "P.S. Thanks for testing this." The three collapsed into laughter as Al wiped the ash off of his hand.
"Okay…"Al said once everyone had calmed down, "Callie, anything?"
"I got some info from Rose." Callie said. "She said that James had been very tense around the time of his abduction. Now that I think about it, Kelly was the same before she disappeared."
"Hmm…" Erica paced back and forth in the hall. "And you don't think that this is suspicious?"
"Not at all." Nick replied. He was resecuring a bandage on his right arm.
"Point is that certain things happen in these types of mysteries." From the blank looks Erica got from her friends, she decided to show them what she meant. She reached over and pulled out a leather bound book from her bag. "I read a lot a of muggle books about this stuff you three. The first thing the hero, or heroine, does is search for clues."
"That's where the problem is." Albus said, "My brother is in Gryffindor, but none of us are. I hate that stupid hat."
"Then we break into Gryffindor Tower." Nick said, "Tonight."
END CHAPTER TEN
Only thing I have to say is the following: Sorry I haven't updated in so long. I lost the charger for my laptop and had a case of writer's block.
Will the group succeed in breaking into Gryffindor Tower? Maybe! or Maybe not!
