ATTENTION! So I have quite a bit of bad news, but awesome good news. Bad news: Kit is completely annoyed with me and has been dealing with a lot of shit lately and lost inspiration for everything so she GAVE (PAST TENSE!) up writing. Good news: because of my annoyance, she has agreed to give it another shot, and now we have two new, though short, chapters, but we'll be getting back to the long chapters soon enough hopefully. Anyway, enough with my babbling so enjoy the story, peoples.

***BELLA POV***

After patrolling, I left to think things out while the others went back inside. I walked a few miles from the cave, debating to read what was in the books or not, before deciding to just get it over with. Sitting on the ground with my back against a tree, I pick up the black book and open to the first page before starting to read.

'Bella, I'm sure your confused about many things, and I don't quite know how to explain everything, but I'm going to try to do my best,' I read the first part to myself before looking up to make sure no one is around. When I'm positive I'm alone, I turn back to the book. 'You didn't lose your memories, they were locked away, and I'm not sure how much you remember so I'll start from the beginning. Your full name is Isabella Marie Swan, but you preferred Bella. Your parents are Charlie and Renee Swan, and you have no siblings. You were born in the small town of Forks, Washington, but moved to Phoenix, Arizona after an accident.'

"How does she know all of this?" I mutter under my breath before continuing.

'You're probably wondering how I know all of this,' I roll my eyes at this and shake my head slightly. 'My name is Shannen Anderson, but I go by Shane. Our fathers are brothers, but Charlie changed his name to Swan to protect you and your mother from being dragged into Shifter life when he found out he wouldn't change. Unfortunately, the bloodline continued on to you, and you started to show signs of becoming a shifter. Worried, your parents sent you to live with me for your senior year because they were starting to suspect you would change, and I was the only shifter they knew. At first, you just expressed symptoms of it, but we were ambushed by vampire nomads one day, and you shifted for the first time. I told your parents as soon as I could, and they asked me to let you stay with me so you could learn. I was your alpha, and you learned from me as well as Jacob Black's and Sam Uley's packs. You had grown up with Jacob's pack until you moved, but you never really knew about Sam's pack. At first, I tried to keep you protected from the overall picture of what was going on, but the nomads ran after the ambush and came back with an army. After the fight, the Volturi approached us, and I found out that you knew what I tried to hide from you. After you left the first time, I was approached by the Volturi. To protect the people of Forks, I had to serve them. I tried to keep it from you, but you somehow found out about it and had been approached by Aro Volturi at some point during your stay with me. Throughout all of this, we received help from a coven of vampires called the Cullens. One of them was your imprint, Alice Cullen. I can't tell you how the conflict with the Volturi ended, nor what happened to the Cullens. You need to find that out for yourself. Afterwards, you joined the Wild Hearts, and I watched over you from out of sight. I made sure you were placed in the squad that would help you become better when I couldn't. There's more you need to know, Bella, but I can't tell you in this book. I made a lot of mistakes, Bella, mistakes I can't fix, but I'm doing my best to make them better. I'm being sent on a mission soon, and I don't expect to return. That's not what this is about, though. Below is an address that will tell you where your parents are. Leon, Anthony, and Caleb will answer almost any questions you have. I really am sorry about dragging you into all of this, Bella. I hope you can forgive me one day, but I understand if you don't. I have to go. Maybe I'll see you again someday, maybe I won't. If I don't, then this will be the last time you hear from me. Goodbye, Bella.'

That's all that is left in the entry except for an address at the bottom of the page. I memorize the address before flipping through the rest of the book. It's filled with more pictures along with a few sentences every now and then. Closing the book, I flinch slightly when I realize Leon is standing in front of me.

"How long have you been standing there?" I ask.

"Not long," he answers with a shrug. "Charles told me he gave you the books. I figured you'd have questions."

"You'd be right about that," I reply with a sigh. "What mission was Shane sent on?"

"She was sent to infiltrate the Volturi and retrieve information. She wasn't supposed to stay there long. We didn't want to risk anyone's life over it."

"But...?" I trail off in question.

"But things went south, and we haven't heard from her since."

"Then the mission was..." I trail off, not wanting to finish my sentence.

"The mission was suicidal from the beginning," he finishes with a sigh.
