***BELLA POV***
"Forks, Washington," I sigh as I look at the "Welcome to Forks" sign. "Welcome home, I guess."
I had decided to forgo going to the address Shane gave me. I wanted to get answers first, and the best place to do that would be to start from the beginning. Shouldering my bag, I walk passed the sign and on down the road. I don't get very far before I hear screaming. Not even thinking things through, I sprint towards the screams and into a large clearing that seems incredibly familiar, but I push it aside as I look for the one who was screaming, only for my eyes to land on a single, red-headed woman standing a few yards away. Her eyes are covered by sunglasses, but I know what she is. She reeks like a vampire.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" she chuckles. "The mutt's just as stupid as before."
"Who are you?" I demand.
"Oh," the woman faux gasps. "You don't remember me? I remember you, Bella. Quite well actually. I also remember how your alpha killed my mate. So now, I'm going to kill you."
"My alpha? I have no alpha."
"No," the woman hums. "I suppose you don't anymore."
"Besides, I've beaten plenty of vampires. You alone will be no different."
"Oh, my dear Bella, who said I was alone?" she asks before she snaps her fingers. Suddenly, I'm surrounded by five newborns, too many for me to win against in an unfair fight. "Get her," the red-head commands before all of the newborns rush me.
"Shit," I growl before shifting.
Before I can even react, the newborns jump on top of me and pin me to the ground, but I quickly get up and throw them off, catching one in my jaws before killing it. I glimpse one newborn rushing at me from the corner of my eye, so I roll, launching it over my head and into another newborn. I don't even have a chance to get back to my feet before the other two pounce on me and knock me to the ground while digging their fangs into my fur. A howl of pain escapes me as I try to shake them off, but it's no use. There's too much pain. Luckily, I catch one with my claws and pull it off before ripping it to shreds, but the other two replace it, digging their fangs into me, releasing their venom into my bloodstream causing waves of pain to engulf me.
"That's enough," the red-head growls, and the remaining three newborns release me. I struggle to keep my eyes open and focused on the red-head as she moves towards me. "I'm going to enjoy this," she says as she removes her sunglasses and reveals black eyes. She stops right in front of me and wraps her arms around my neck. This is it. I'm going to die. I couldn't keep my promise to Lewis. "Say hello to your mate for me. You'll be seeing her soon."
What? My mate's dead?! Before I can even react, her grip tightens, and my vision starts to fade.
"No!" I faintly hear a voice yell as the vampire is thrown off of me. "You will not hurt her anymore, Victoria."
"And who are you to say that?" she demands as I try to focus my vision on my savior.
I can faintly make out white hair, but my savior is not Khalin. The voice doesn't match, but it is familiar, and my body unconsciously tenses at the sound of it while uncontrollable flashes of fear start creeping down my spine. I don't know how to feel about this turn of events, but I can do nothing to stop it due to my weakened state.
"I am Cobra," the man says, and my head starts pounding as an image of him standing over me, ready to kill me while a war rages on in the background, appears in my head. It's gone in an instant as he speaks again. "And when the time comes, I will be the one to kill her."
That is the last thing I hear before I black out.
Dun dun dun. Yeah, anyone remember who he is? I'll give you a hint. He's from the last story. Anyway, this is the last update I have for today, and I promise to try not to give y'all such a long wait for the next one. I'll catch you guys l8er.
