Alright, well, I lied. I had planned this to be the second to last chapter, bbbuuuttt…really, I think this just finishes it up. The original ending just didn't tie in well with how I wanted things to end. So, without further ado, the end to the long running fic.

~White~

-Purity-

White presented itself all around him in this castle he called home. Or at least he had called it such long ago with his wonderful wife. She and he and their son had made it home. Now it hadn't felt like home in a long time.

Ever since the color went from his eyes. He couldn't make it home, not really. Natzaniel had made it more of a home with Miranda after the war had been won. But for him, Hatter just couldn't. The pain was too much, too dulling to allow him that much. That pain was noticeable by all, but none could change. All they could do was allow Hatter to slowly fade since he did nothing himself to stop it.

His pain continued to get to him more and more till sadly and finally the pain was just too much for him to handle. Alas, it was his dear friend Hare that found him –or what was left– and not his son. That would have been too cruel for even him to inflict onto someone who did not deserve such pain. But it was still heartbreaking none-the-less for all. Eventually Natzaniel found out, locking himself away while the castle mourned once more over a death.

Hatter had seemed to have given up on life and was found dead in bed. Like he had been asleep and never woke up.

The ceremony had been a small one, as it had been for Alice. This had been a deep lost as well, losing two extraordinary people like they had. The pain of the lost affected the close and the far of Underland. Even after the war had been won, it just seemed as though Death was still ever so cruel to them all. After the ceremony, a lit drizzle of rain seemed to come from the bright sun in the sky. All tears were joined by such a rain. All eyes of everyone and different colors looked to the bright blue sky and bright sun to see and remember those they had lost now.

~EyesOfEmotion~

Everything was white again. Odd, since he hadn't remembered this brightness of white before. Maybe darkness and black, but this ethereal white. This white that kept him blinded before a figure formed in the whiteness. Hatter couldn't tell who or what it was at first, until the form fully came into being. Who appeared surprised him even more than the whiteness.

"Alice?!"

She smiled at him, so beautiful as ever. "Hello Tarrant," she greeted him, sounding so sweet. This, this seemed so unreal to him. Like something just wasn't quite right with what was going on.

His face must had shown that confusion, for Alice then spoke again with a more steeled expression, "Tarrant, do you know where you are? Where we are?"

He glanced around again before meeting her gaze. "I do not, dearest Alice. Do you?" She sighed softly and nodded. That struck Hatter to be odd.

"I do, dear. We…we are in the afterlife. Or at least before it. You and I are dead." That caught him completely off-guard. They were dead? How could that be?

"Dead, but how?" he asked incredulously, never having before doubting Alice. She had never lied to him before. So what about this nonsense now? But the look on her face, on with pity and understanding, gave Hatter all he needed to know now. They were dead, like she had said. Dead, such a foul thing that is.

"Our times have come, so let's carry on, dear," Alice soon spoke again, reaching out with a hand held palm up to him. He glanced down at it, then up to her soft face before nodding and taking it. She then lead him more into the brightness and beyond with a single thought in his mind.

Lead on my love…for now, we are together again…

Well, here is the end to this long ficlet-comprised story. I hope you all enjoyed reading it over the time. Glad to finally be down with it all and conclude it. Even though it ended sadly, at least they were together.

So, all I have to say now is review and hope you find other interesting stories to read as well.
