Chapter 4: Alliance between Narnia and Daggerhorn

Maeve's POV

I looked at the elf and the dwarf for they looked familiar. The elf was a young man with black hair and silver eyes. His skin pale as he stood tall with a lean tone form like many elves. The Dwarf on the other hand wasn't like the dwarves in Narnia. Instead of being near three to four feet tall, this dwarf was about five with a bulky figure and insane beard. Trumpkin could barely reached the man eyes not even hold the wide form. This dwarf had a red beard with some dreads attacked with some metal work. In daggerhorn the dwarves started the iron age of craftsmen and blacksmith. Looking at the dwarf's medallion I gasped.

"Ragrit Grandbattler!" I exclaimed in shock.

"Oi, the lass remembers me faster than you, elf." Ragrit bragged. Instantly I ran up to him giving the dwarf a hug. Long ago Ragrit came to the shire to deliver a message to the knight circle about the condition of the dwarves. The only person Ragrit would irritate is an elf name Amdiron.

"Iston i nîf gîn," (I know your face) I said in elfish. "Amdiron?"

"Na vedui!" (At last!) Amdiron praise. "I may have feared you have forgotten me."

"Takes a while after a mere decade to remember your face," I defended and soon the two told me everything's that is going on.

Third Person POV

"Daggerhorn has been restored to its former glory when capturing King Lucifer and imprisonment." Brom told Caspian as they talked in the king's study. "Now our kingdom is under reign by my brother, Arthur. He request of forming an alliance between our kingdoms."

Caspian nodded in approval while inside he felt relieved if not flattered that the Daggerneze consider an alliance. "What has King Arthur suggested, trade?"

Brom stared at Caspian waiting for his offer. Daggerhorn is known for masonry and blacksmith work with the connection to the mountains. But as of now things seemed vague on both kingdoms since both are still healing from the damages of their previous tyrants. Narnia used to be the kingdom of military and medicine. And yet the nymphs and any plant spirits are taking their time to bloom. Caspian sensed this would not be a good trade in fair. So the two men enter the royal studies to have this discussion in private, Caspian walking to the small bar to pour two glasses of wine while Brom took a seat.

"King Caspian, do to all the damages from both our ancestors actions and recent events….the council suggested on this alliance be sealed through matrimony?" Brom explained.

Caspian almost spilled some wine but recovered before handing Lord Brom a goblet and take a seat across from him. "I see."

"We are brokering alliances with you, King Caspian. That Princess Maeve would marry you ensuring your loyalty and army if needed as your received the same in return." Brom continued.

Caspian kept a neutral face listening to Brom offer from the King of Daggerhorn. To hear the consent to marrying Maeve seemed to be a blessing. He actually planned to propose to the warrior princess, but being raised as a gentleman he needed the blessing from her father. Since Maeve's father, Oric, passed away before the child was born, the hand of the once heir be under the kings hand. Now that King Arthurs obliges to this he must wait for the right occasion. Then again the urge to propose immediately is tempting after the serious kiss a few weeks ago at the ruins of Cair Paravel

The two continue to talk and Caspian realized Lord Brom isn't at all intimidating than he appears to be. He finds more about the condition of Daggerhorn while telling the same with Narnia. By late afternoon do the end their meeting. With a final handshake, Caspian went to his room to search for something. He went to the mantel where a small jewel encrusted box was and opens it to see his mother/Queens's jewelry. Long ago his mother told him when the times come in finding the perfect bride to give her this and to wear the rings of his parents' marriage.

Two rings tied together in white silk ribbons center. All the memories of Caspian the IX and his wife was something that none could compare. A crown prince marring a maiden who was a noblewoman. They grew up together in court until the age of fifteen did Caspian IX started courting her before any competition arise. The queen laughed every time she told how easily jealous her husband was when a suitor came to her father for permission on a call. Those rare memories held sentimental value, and hope the future repeats without the blood of betrayal.

Caspian sighed as he closed the case. He needed to wait for the right moment. But before he put it away, he took out a small silver ring that had a ruby cut into heart center. After looking at the betrothal ring he left the chambers to see where the others are.

Maeve's POV

Throughout the day I spent with Ragrit and Amdiron while tending to the dragons. Dragons are usually hostile creatures, but Emyrs knows how to tame a few for a period time. None of the narnians dare come close to the dragons except for Asai who found it intriguing to observe such deadly creatures. Like Aslan being a lion for Narnia, a vulture for Calormen, A falcon for Telmar, the dragon or serpents are Daggerhorn animal symbol.

Afterwards, some of the maids escorted my friends to their rooms to rest. Asai excused himself as well for his shift. I sighed as I walked to my chambers to freshen up for tonight's feast. It is wonderful to see kin and dear friends after a decade from my childhood and spiritual friendship.

"I haven't seen you this happen, dear." Trufflehunter announced out of nowhere.

I turned around to find the large badger staring at me with a smile. I smile back at him as I knelt down to his level. When I magically appeared to Narnia Trufflehunter took me under his wing. He has been a dear friend, a guardian figure. His knowledge and wisdom brought me out of the animal phase. The animal that live on survival, if it means killing people.

"Tis good to see old faces," I said.

Trufflehunter nodded, "Yes."

I smiled and took his paw, "You are family as well, Trufflehunter. Without you I may had been lost."

"And you are found," he said happily.

We walked along the halls till reaching the balcony watching the scenery. A lot of the Narnians and Telmarines were preparing for the feast in Telmar while others gather material for the reconstruction of Cair Paravel. Caspian consider the old castle be restored, especially to this day. Although things have been postpone due to material shortage. If a peace treaty is form then Daggerhorn would supply more stone.

"There is so much life here in Narnia than it was before," I noted.

"Indeed," Trufflehunter agreed.

After a few more minutes we went our different ways to prepare for the feast.
