You were gone.
Maka couldn't get this statement out of her head. You were gone. You vanished as though last night did not matter. She could feel her heart aching, closing in on her. The night wasn't a lie. She fell in love with him the same way she fell in love with him at the park. Slowly but increasing every minute she had spent with him. What went wrong?
Maka tighten her arms around her. She was walking on the sidewalk. There were no roads besides her but she could hear the traffic. It was seven in the morning and everyone was waking up, starting their day from where they left her. She was the only one who was starting the day off horrible. She felt her heart ached again and her paranoia made her feel worse. Maka exhaled loudly. The only thing that could be making the morning far worse than it should be was if someone who knew her passed by.
Maka moved her legs quickly on the sidewalk. She was halfway home. She should be running but it would seem silly. She would not only be running back home, she would be running away from the reality. She is in love.
To her advantage, the path Maka was taking did not have many people. The route made the world seemed empty. It was Maka and her thoughts traveling on the sidewalk. Maybe she should run for it. She would be at home quickly. Maka thought about her choice. She unwrapped herself and let her arms dangled on the side of her body. There was nothing to worry about. She was safe.
"Hey Maka!"
That voice. Her ears tingled sharply. Oh Death.
"Maka! I order you to stop!"
She felt her legs moving quicker than before. Her heart started pounding. Maka didn't want to talk to him. Nothing good would be said. Please.
"Hey! You can't ignore your Great…" Maka tuned him out. Where did he come from? Was he behind her the entire time? Maka turned a corner and sprint. She was only a few blocks away from home. The shouting for her attention were loud. He could be waking up the entire neighborhood. Maka didn't care. She sprints until her feet ached. Maybe she shouldn't have worn the heels but nothing should stop her.
As Maka ran for her life to safety, Black*Star paced slowly on the sidewalk. It had to be Maka, he thought. She would be the only one to take this route besides the Great and Powerful Black*Star. Black*Star shouldn't had bother by this encounter but he was. He couldn't help himself and wonder,
Why was Maka crying?
