AN: Hello everyone, I'm sorry it took so long but finally it's here. I think I never mentioned it but this fanfic was supposed to have only 15 chapters but as you can see it will have more (yaay?) But anyeays my point is, I wanted to make this chapter special and I swear I tried. I hope it makes sense to you because it did make sense to me when I was writing it. Anywas, good reading!
Arizona's POV:
After a very agitating week, Friday is finally here and I'm allowed to take it easy. After everything that happened, nothing is better than arriving at home, taking off my killer heels I've been standing on all day, taking off my bra and jumping into a relaxing long hot shower.
To say this week was messy is an understatement. All the stress Callie's brother's appearence caused and the bull headed men in the board that despite having agreed on going with Callie's plan, decided to change their minds. It looks like after Callie had her fight with Robert he went back on his decision just to get on her nerves and, of course, those who kiss his ass went back too.
"You know what? I'm done with this!" I remember her saying when she heard about them going back on their decision. She was so not herself this week, she was shaken with everything that had happened and she didn't even wanna fight them, at least not for now. I helped calming her down, telling her sweet words to warm her heart and maybe help her get a little strenght back. Did it work? I can't tell you for sure, but at least it seemed so.
As for the thing with her brother, she still hasn't opened up to me, which makes me a little... I don't know, sad? Maybe? I wish she would just come and talk to me, I wish she would do it so I could comfort her and make her feel better. But at least after talking to Mark she seems a little better and I have to say it took me by surprise when she asked me my opinion. But also it makes me even more confused, she said she cares about what I think but she doesn't open up... But I'm doing what Mark said, not pushing her, she'll come around in time.
As I'm about to get out of the shower I hear my phone ring. It rings for a few seconds but I'm not able to reach it in time.
When I get it, I see it was a call from Callie and that I have a new text from Clara.
Hey flag, still up for tonight? – Cl.
Before I can type my message back, my phone starts ringing again.
"Hey hot stuff." I say with a smile.
"Hey, how are you? Already miss me?" She plays.
"Nah... not really." I play along.
"Ouch, I'm hurt." She says, getting a laugh from me. "What are you up to tonight? I thought that maybe I could finally make it up to you for our date."
"I already told you there's nothing to make up for." I say for the thousandth time.
"Fine... but I still want to take you out."
"I really want to go out with you but it's Friday and I already promissed Clara we'd go out for a girls night."
"Oh..." I hear the dissapointment on her voice.
"But hey, you could come with us." I suggest, nothing would end this crappy week better than a few drinks with my best friend and my hot, hot girlfriend.
"Uh... I ... better not, you girls go and have fun."
"Oh come on, Calliope!" I whine like a little kid, I could use my puppy dog eyes now to give it a plus but as she can't see me..."It will be fun."
"No, really Arizona, it's okay. You need to go out with your friend, you've already done more than enough for me this week."
"I would do it all over again and you better not forget... Are you sure you don't wanna come? You're not still jealous of Clara are you?"
"Okay, for starters I've never been jealous of Clara and second, I know you're just friends."
"Yes, you have... but okay sweetie, your choice."
"Maybe I could see you tomorrow? You could come over or maybe I could go to your place? We could have breakfast together and do something fun in the afternoon?"
"Yes, I'd love to. We can stay at your place, there's a really nice bakery near your house that I'm dying to go to."
"It's a date then?"
"Definitely a date."
"Okay, see you tomorrow. Take care and don't get too drunk."
"Yes, ma'am!" I joke getting a laugh from her. "See you."
After all these years being friends with Clara I should've known better than to let her get me all those shots of tequila. It's already morning and the brightness of the sun penetrating through the window isn't helping with my headache. I attempt to get up but I fail on the first try and on the three following ones. I think about giving up, after all it's Saturday, I don't have work to go to or any doctors appointments so I can stay in bed all day, right?
I pull my pillow over my head again to block the sun and try to drift off to sleep again. Last night was kind of a bad idea, at least for met this girl at the bar and spent most of the time talking to her after she made ME go over to the girl, introduce myself and get her some information. The poor woman even thought it was me who was hitting on her, but it was only until I asked her if she wanted to come over to our table to join us and I introduced her to Clara. The two started talking and after a few minutes it was as if I wasn't even there. My only company was the alcohol... yeah, I blame my headache on Clara. At least I hope she got to go back to her place with the girl. It wouldn't be so boring if Callie were there...
Callie! ... Crap!
"How could I forget my date with Callie?" I exclamed to myself as I jumped off my bed and ran into the bathroom to take a quick cold shower.
On my way to Callie's build I decided to stop at the coffee shop near her house to get myself a cup of black, strong coffee. After all if I wanna spend a good day with my girlfriend, I can't have a headache to make me grumpy I get really annoying when I'm grumpy and headaches always make me grumpy.
As I enter the small shop, I see it's a little crowed and that it will take me a little longer than I expected, so I sent Callie a quick text to let her know I'm almost there.
I'll be there in a few minutes ;) – A
Okay, I'm waiting for you. Btw, good morning 3 – C
A smile crosses my face when I read her message, how can a simple emoji make me smile like this?
"Sweetie." Comes the voice of the old lady at the counter, waking me up from my little world. "Are you going to order?"
"Yes, I'm sorry. Um, a black coffee plase." I say with an apologetic smile, she must've been waiting for me to talk for a while.
"Anything else?"
"No, that's all."
"Okay, feel free to take a seat, we'll get your coffee to you."
"Thank you." I say with a smile and go looking for a table to seat while I wait for my coffee.
Unfortunatly, for me, all the tables are already ocupied and I decided to wait at the corner of the room. It's only until I hear a voice come from the table a few steps away from me.
"You can sit with me, pretty." Even though I couldn't see the man's face, I would recognize that accent anywhere. Javier...
"I'm good here." I say coldly.
"Come on, you don't have to be afraid of me, I don't bite."
"I'm not afraid of anyone, I'm good where I am. Thank you." I state but he doesn't give up.
"Come on, pretty. Don't be stubborn."
"Stop calling me like that."
"So, how should I call you then? You didn't give me your name."
I think for a while before giving him an answer. I don't know if it would be a good idea to tell him my name or to talk to him at all. Callie was really mad at him so I felt like I should be too. But after thinking for a while, I get that this may be my only oportunity to learn about what happened. I know Callie didn't want to talk to him but deep inside I know she wants to, she's just scared, for what I've learnt so far he left a big hole in her heart.
"Are you still there?" He asks, waking me from my thoughts.
"Arizona." I say. "My name is Arizona."
"Well, Arizona, will you sit with me or not?"
I can't help myself so I go and sit at the booth across from his. We watch each other for a while before he speaks up.
"You can ask."
"Ask what?"
"What you wanna know... I've noticed you were lost that night, you didn't know what was going on."
"That night I didn't but now I know and I don't like it." I say still with my cold tone.
"And what do you know, Arizona?"
"That you broke your five year old sister's heart when you left her for no reason."
"It's not that!" He exclaims, getting some unwanted attention and making me stand up and take a step away from him. "I'm sorry... please, sit down, I didn't mean to yell... just... I'm sorry."He says and I can see in his eyes he really regrets it. "I didn't leave them because I wanted to, it isn't the truth."
"Then what's the truth?" I ask.
"I..." He starts talking but stops when a waiter comes to deliver my coffee.
"So?" I say when the waiter is gone.
"I was kicked out. Our father kicked me out because... I did something... something wrong and that was the way our father found to make me pay." He says with sadness in his voice, which almost makes me feel sorry for him.
"And what did you do?" I ask.
"I-"
"You know what?" I interrupt him. "It's none of my business, you shouldn't be telling me this, I'm not the one you should talk to. You barely know me and I'm not the one you want to talk to."
"She doesn't want to listen to me. She never will."
I watch him for a second whilist I take a sip of my coffee. "Give me a reason, one good reason why I should help you and I will." I know I said it's none of my business but I can't help but interfere. The way Callie talks about her brother and the stories I've heard... I know it's important to him to tell her his story and for her to listen and maybe even forgive him... or kick him out of her life for good. But at least she will know the truth.
"I love her, my sister. I didn't go by a day without thinking about her and Aria. And I know you care about her too. The way you stood up for her the other day, I can see you take care of her and I thank you for that. But I need to talk to her, for her to listen to what I have to say and that way I can go."
"Go? You want her to listen to you and then you'll leave her again?"
"It's complicated..." He says, looking down at his hands and playing with his fingers. "So, that's my reason. Good enough for you to help me?" He asks looking back at me with his eyes filled up with tears. A totally different picture of what I've seen at the beginning of the week.
I take a deep breath and release a "Yes." In a whisper.
"Thank you." He lets out a breath I don't think he knew he was holding.
"I have to go now." I say standing up and getting my stuff.
"Are you going to see her?" He asks.
"Yes, I'll do what I can to try and convince her to at least see you once more."
"Here," he says, getting up and taking a card from his wallet. "my phone number, call me when..."
"I'll will." I say with a nod and leave the shop.
"So, what do you have in mind for today?" I ask Callie as I sit on the couch. I arrived a few minutes ago and was greeted with that bright smile that never fails to warm my heart.
"I thought that maybe we could go to the park and have a picnic and then we could come back, watch a movie or something and I could cook you dinner."
"That sounds like a great plan to me. Do you have everything we need for a picnic or do we need to go the the grocery store?"
"Nope, I've got everything." She says as she starts putting everything in a bag.
I can't take my eyes off of her as she goes around the kitchen getting everything for our day out. The song she's humming shows that she's in a good mood, the smile she has on her face when she glances at me every once in a while... yeah Arizona Robbins, you got it bad.
"What?" She asks turning to me.
"What what?"
"You're staring." She says.
"Can you blame me? You're really good to look at." I reply, getting a even brighter smile from her.
"Thank you."She says, leaning against the counter and capturing my lips for a sweet kiss. "You're really good to look at too."
"Thanks..."
"So, you're ready to go?"
"Yes, let's go."
As we walk around the park trying to find a perfect spot to put our things down, I can't stop my mind from thinking how I'm going to talk to Callie about her brother. I told him I would help but I couldn't think of a way of doing so without sending my relationship with Callie to an end. I'm awakened from my thoughts when I feel her entwine our fingers and the gesture warms my heart.
"I think here is a good place to sit, what do you think?" She asks me as she stops walking.
"It's perfect, Calliope." I say, giving her a peck on the lips.
"You know," She says as she starts setting our blanket on the soft grass. "I really don't like when people call me that."
"Oh, I didn't know that... sorry." I say with an apologetic smile.
"I like it when it comes from you. Whenever I hear it coming from anyone else it feels like I'm in trouble and reminds me that I hate my name... but when it comes from you, I don't know... it just feels different... it feels good." She says looking at me with her warm brown eyes full of... wait, that can't be.
"I'm glad you feel like that."
"Me too."
After another quick peck, we finish setting our things down and let ourselves fall on the ground, we sit next to each other and she has her left arm around my shoulder while I rest my head on her shoulder, enjoying the feeling of the breeze meeting my face.
"So, how was your night out with Clara?" She asks after a few minutes of silence.
"It was nice but you should've come. I mean, she met this girl at the bar and I stayed there with them at the table watching while they flirted with each other... it was pretty annoying, so I started drinking to bring me out of boredom and the night went pretty much like that. Clara and Lauren, me and tequila."
"I'm sorry you had to drown yourself in alcohol, sweetie." She says with a soft laugh. "Next time I'll go, I promise." She places a kiss on the top of my head.
"You better, because if you don't it's not going to be the tequila who is going to keep me company." I play.
"Oh yeah... and who would it be?"
"I don't know, haven't met her yet."
"So I better keep you company since you still haven't met her." She plays along.
"You better." I say laughing.
We stare at each other for a second, her eyes going from my eyes to my lips, her hand on my cheek while she caresses it with her thumb.
"You know, you can kiss me whenever and wherever you want." I say when I see her run her tongue on her bottom lip.
"That sounded ambiguous..." She says with a smirk.
"Maybe that was my intention." I mirror her smirk.
She just laughs and leans closer placing her lips upon mine. As our lips make contact the world around us fades away. It's just her and me. Nothing else matters. I feel her peek her tongue out and I open my mouth to gladly let her in. The feeling of her tongue against mine makes the temperature between us rise. I pull her by the waist to get a little closer to me and my hands go straight to her hips, pulling it and pressing it as the heat inside me grows. I feel her moan against my mouth and I feel the thromb between my legs even stronger.
"We better stop now." She says as she rests her forehead against mine. "It's a public place."
"Yes... we better." I say still catching my breath. "Or I won't be able to stop myself and will take you right here and now not even caring about who is watching." The look on her face shows me she's just as hot as me.
"So, how about some wine?" She asks and sits back to get the bottle.
The day went by pretty fast as we enjoyed each other's company. The weather was good, there weren't any clouds in the sky. We talked, laughed... kissed. It's what I could call a perfect day.
Now we're back at her apartment watching some boring tv show to kill time. She's laying on the couch with her legs upon my lap while I massage her feet.
I have to say if there was anyone behind the door hearing the sounds from the apartment they would think we were getting it on. Callie's moans were kind of loud when I reached the right place. The sex noises she was making were of no help to calm down the fire that was raising between my legs.
"Oh yes..." She said when I pressed my thumb in the middle of her foot. "right there."
"Seriously, you should stop it." I say with a serious but yet playful tone.
"Stop what?" She asks confused.
"The sex sound... you're moaning."
"Oh..." She says and the cutest blush crosses her face. "I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize, it's kinda music to my ears." I joke.
She lets out a heartful laugh and we stare at each other for a few moments.
"Should I say it now?" I question myself. It's been such a good day and I'm afraid bring up the subject of her brother will just make her drift away from me. I have to do this, right? I told him I would. And I don't know why, but there's something within me that believes he had a good reason.
"What is it?" She asks as she notices I've been staring at her with a blank face for a while.
"Callie... there's something I need to talk to you about."
"You seem serious, Arizona." She says as she stands from her position and sits. "Is everything okay?"
"Yes... I mean... Oh God, what have I gotten myself into?" I ask to myself.
"Arizona, what is it?" She asks with a worried tone.
"Okay, I will tell you but you have to promise me that you won't hate me."
"Oh..." She says surprised. "You... you lied, right? About yesterday. You-you, slept with Clara, is that it?"
"What?!" I asked surprised. "No, Calliope... God, no. I would never do that to you."
"Then what is it? Why would I hate you?" She asks furrowing her brow.
"Okay..." I take a deep breath. "I... I-I talked to your brother today." I let out in a rush.
"You what?!" She exclaims.
"It was before I arrived, I went to the coffee shop to get a cup of coffee because of my headache and he was there."
"And you went to talk to him?" She asks getting up from the couch.
"No! He came and talked to me." I get up too and explain myself. "He apologized for the other day."
"And you believed in his apology?" She asks with frustration. "I can't believe it." She says as she starts pacing back and forth.
"I did. He mean it, Callie. I could see in his eyes. He did mean it."
"So you read people's minds now? You can see if they're telling the truth by looking at them in the eye?"
"Calliope..."
"No, do not Calliope me, Arizona."
"You have to listen to him. I told him I'd help with it. I told him I'd talk to you into it." I'm already in hell, might as well hug the demons.
"You did what? You told him you'd get me to talk to him? You have to be kidding me!" She yells.
"Don't yell at me!" I yell back, I'm starting to get nervous.
She looks at me surprised, with a look of hurt on her face that makes my heart break into pieces.
"Callie... you have to listen to me... you have to listen to him." I say and she just stares at me. "He didn't leave because he wanted to, your father kicked him out."
"That's not true... my father wouldn't kick one of his kids out of his house." She says.
"He did Callie... Javier said he did something... something bad and because of that your father kicked him out." I tell her just what her brother told me earlier.
"So he did something, my father had a reason."
"He wants to tell you what he did, that's what he told me. I wish he would've told me what it was so I could tell you but it's not my place. It's none of my business, I shouldn't even have listened to him, you're right. I was just trying to help because deep inside I know, by looking into his eyes that he regrets it. He regrets leaving you... but, if you don't want to believe it if-if you don't want to see him ever again, it's your choice and I can't force you to do anything you don't want to. I'm... I'm sorry I interfered, Mark told me I shouldn't push the subject but I didn't listen to him and look at where it got me. I'm just... thank you for the lovely day and I'm sorry for ruining it... if you still want to talk to me tomorrow, you have my number." I finish, getting my purse and starting to head towards the door.
"Where are you going?" She asks almost in a whisper.
"I'm going home. I know you're mad at me now, maybe even pissed and this is my way to give you space." I explain.
"Wait." She says as I reach the doorknob. "Stay."
I turn around and I see that the look on her face no longer demonstrates anger, but sadness.
"I'm sorry for yelling at you." She says. "I didn't mean to it's just..."
"I know, it's okay." I say as I sit back down on my seat on the couch. "So, what are you going to do?"
"What should I do?"
"I can't decide that for you. Do what your heart is telling you to do."
"My heart says one thing but my head says otherwise."
"Then you just have to choose who you're going to listen to."
"I don't... I don't know."
"Close your eyes and think about it for a second."
I watch as she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. I take the card Javier gave me earlier out of my pocket and place it on the coffee table. She opens her eyes again and a single tear slips out of her right eye. She spots the card on the table and reaches out for it.
"Can you... lend me your phone? I don't have mine here." She asks with a soft voice.
"Of course." I say handing her my phone and placing a soft kiss on her temple and taking a few steps away to give her some privacy.
I see she is having some sort of internal fight as she stares at the phone screen for a few minutes. But after taking another deep breath she types in the numbers and puts the phone to her ear.
"I'll listen to you." Is the only thing she says before hanging up.
"So?" I ask, approaching her again.
"He's coming." She says.
"Good. That's-that's good." I say with a smile to give her some reassurance. "Will you call me when you're done talking to him?"
"Aren't you going to stay?" She asks.
"No, it's something too personal, I think you need to do it by yourself." I say as I get a hold of her hands.
"Then could you just stay in my bedroom? I don't want to be here alone, knowing you're here will give me some strength to hear whatever he has to say."
"Of course I can if that's what you want."
"It is." She says and I wrap her in my arms.
"It's going to be fine, Calliope." I kiss her temple. "Come on, let's sit here and I'll give you another massage while he's not here."
She just gives me a smile and takes a seat back on the couch. Now, it's just time to hope for the best.
General POV:
They stayed on the couch for about half an hour. Arizona had Callie wrapped around in arms tightly. The brunette had had a breakdown during their wait and it crushed Arizona's heart. Callie had no idea, but when she felt bad, Arizona felt bad too. She cared so much about Callie, maybe even more than she thought.
As they were still in their embrace, the door bell rang. It was time. It was time to get everything clear, at least after that Callie would be able to move on with her life without beating herself up, hurting, and thinking about the "what ifs." She'll give him the chance to speak and then she can move on.
"Go, answer the door. You know where I'll be." Arizona says as she stands up from the couch and leans in to kiss the the other woman's waiting lips. Then she was gone to Callie's bedroom.
Callie took a deep breath before standing up and going to answer the door.
"Come in." She said and he did so. "You can take a seat." She took a seat and he followed her moves. "So... I'm listening."
"Thank you..." He whispered. "And I'm sorry, Callie I-"
"Are you going to tell me or are you going to keep apologizing?" She says with a cold tone, making him more nervous than he already is.
"Okay..." He said with a calm voice. "I don't know how to start it so I'm just gonna get to the point." She nods. "Well, the night before that day at the park, the day I told you and Aria I was leaving, dad and I had a fight, a huge one. You weren't at home... neither was Aria, you were sleeping over at one of Aria's friend's house." He explains. "So, that night we fought because of something I did... I don't know if you remember but when I was accepted into college dad gave me a car."
"Yes, I remember... you'd ramble about that car all day."
"Yeah." He said. "Well, a few days after that I went out with some friends to celebrate, it was the night before the fight. And that night we went to a bar and we drank. A lot... When I was driving back home, it was raining and I couldn't see the street very well because it was dark and well... the alcohol in my body didn't help either. And when I was halfway home I didn't stop at a red light, because it was late and I thought that there wouldn't be anyone on the street at that time of the night and someone could come and steal my car. But I was wrong... there was someone on the street... a girl.I tried to stop but I just wasn't fast enough." At this point he wasn't able to hide his feelings anymore and his hands started shaking.
"Oh my God..." Callie said in a whisper.
"She died on the way to the hospital. They did everything they could to save her but... she didn't make it."
"Javier..."
"And that is not all." He says taking a deep breath and clearing his throat. "She was pregnant... six months. They were able to save the baby. When I got home our father already knew about the accident because one of the cops who went to the scene knew him, owed him a favor or something. We fought, we yelled at each other for about one hour. He said I shouldn't have drank if I were going to drive."
"Yes, you shouldn't... I..." Callie wanted to say something, she just learnt that her brother killed someone but she was at a loss of words.
"And then he said I should thank God for having him as my father and that the cop owed him a favor."
"What do you mean?" She asked confused.
"He covered it."He said. "He called his contacts and did everything he could so I wouldn't get arrested... but you know our father, he did things... illegal things. So I had to leave the city for a week until everything was solved. I didn't want to, I swear to God I didn't want to but I had no other choice, I'd lost my scholarship and everything... so I just went with it. The day after, when I took you to the park and watched while you and Aria ran around playing with each other I couldn't stop thinking of what would be of that child growing up without a mother. And that thought followed me wherever I went. Seeing you were the only happy moments in my life after that."
"But you stopped coming..."
"I had to. The guilt was consuming me and to ease it I started drinking. I'd drink as if there wasn't anything left... sometimes I would stop myself, thinking about going back to you and to Aria but I was weak. I couldn't let it go. So I thought that maybe leaving the country, would help me have a fresh start but it didn't help either. So I started drinking again and it got worse. And from drinking I went to drugs and by that time I was giving up on myself. Letting life do whatever it wanted to do with me. But then I met a girl... I was at a bar one night and I saw this girl... Cameron. I approached her and we talked and well... you know, things happened between us. But I left her too. I had to... it was better for her. I didn't deserve her, I was a drunk, drug addict and she was a doctor... orthopedic surgeon, way out of my league, huh?" He says with a defeated laugh. "After a few months, I had to be hospitalized because I was sick... you know, collateral effect of the drug. And fate happened, she was the surgeon leading the emergency that night... and she took care of me. She gave me the information for some help groups and after almost dying in that hospital I realized I should stop. That this might be my fresh start, you know?" She just nods, Callie was listening to her brother with all her attention. "So I did it, I got treatment and stopped using drugs... and I stopped drinking even though it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do physically and mentally. Cameron and I started seeing each other again and she helped me to finish my studies and to get a job at the hospital."
"You're a doctor?" She asks surprised.
"Yes, I work in PEDs." He said proudly.
"But... if you got your life back why didn't you call?" She asks with hurt in her voice.
"I wanted to, Calliope. I did. But so many years had gone by and I was afraid if I made an appearence I would mess everything up... like I did when you first saw me this week."
"Do you have any idea of how many times I dreamed about my brother coming back? You were my hero and you just left, Javier. If you'd come back, I'd be the happiest girl ever, no matter what you've done."
"I'm really sorry, like I said I'm weak... I'm weak and I'm a coward, I should've stood up and spoke louder and took the consequences for the accident, I shouldn't have let our father decide what I should or should not do. I regret that everyday..." He says as nothing but the truth flashed in his eyes. "A few years later I found out the girl's family had opened a foundation for victms of hit and run victims. From then on I started making donations every month, that was my way of helping them after messing their life up and taking their daughter away from them."
"That's... that's the right thing to do."
"Anyway, Cameron and I decided to get married when I became an Attending." He says. "She got pregnant a year later."
"You have kids?" Callie asked, with a small smile at the corner of her mouth.
"Yes," He says taking a little picture of his family from his pocket. "This is Cameron." He says pointing to a very beatiful reheaded woman in the picture. "And this," He says as he points to the chubby little baby on the woman's arms "is Lucia. She's five now."
Callie felt her eyes fill up with tears when she heard her niece's name. It had always been her plan to name her first daughter after her mom.
"You named her after mom." She says in a barely audible whisper.
"Yes, I did." He says with a smile.
"She's beautiful..." Callie says as she takes the picture from her brother's hand to get a closer look at it. After a while looking at the picture, she decides to ask the question that's been on her mind since he mentioned his life had gotten better. "Why now?"
"Well," He says taking the picture back and putting it in his wallet again. "two months ago I was diagnosed with cancer and I-"
"What? You... you have cancer?" She asks, her heart racing with fear.
"Yes... it's operable... risky but operable. I decided to have the surgery but there are chances I won't survive it."
"So why are you going to do it? Why are you... no, you can't have the surgery." She says with her voice full of fear and concern.
"I already decided, Cameron is there for me and so is Lucia and I have to try. I'm a surgeon Callie, I believe in medicine, I trust it. And if I have a chance... I'm going to take it."
"So that's why you're here? To say goodbye?"
"No..."
"Do you have any idea of how selfish this is?" She asks standing up.
"Calliope-"
"No, don't!" She interrupts him. "After all these years you came back to say goodbye because you're dying? I can't believe it... for a moment I thought my old brother was here... but now I see I was wrong, you're not my brother, you're just a selfish bastard-"
"Calliope!" He puts his hands on her shoulders to stop her. "I'm not here to say goodbye. I believe I'll survive the surgery, saying goodbye isn't why I'm here. I'm here to ask for your forgiveness... for the hurt and pain I've caused you."
"I-" Callie can't finish her sentence because the tears she's been holding make an appearence and her sobs echo around the room.
Javier cautiously gets closer to her and she lets herself fall on her brother's arms. "You can't die!" She says between her sobs. "You... I spent years thinking you were dead and now you're here and might die but you can't die, do you hear me? You can't!" She wraps her arms tighter around her brother's neck.
"I can't promise you this, but I can promise you I'll fight with all my strength to make it. And then, if you want to, I want to bring Lucia and Cameron to meet you."
"Yes." Callie says as she lets go of her brother's embrace and looks at him staright in the eyes. "I forgive you."
This time he's the one who can't hold the tears. They get into each other's embrace.
They get out of each other's hold when Callie remembers something.
"Wait right here, there's someone I want to introduce you to." She says as she walks to her room. She's back a few seconds later, dragging Arizona from her room by her arm. Arizona didn't want to go, she said it was their moment and she shouldn't interfere but Callie insisted. "Javi, this is Arizona Robbins."
"Hello again." Arizona says a little shy.
"Hey there Arizona." He replies with a smile. "I already know her, Calliope. And by the way, thank you for keeping your word and making her listen to me."
"It was all her, I just gave a little push." She said blushing.
"So thank you for your push."
"Well, Javi I know you already know her but I'm not finished." Callie says.
"Oh, okay then..."
"Javi, this is Ariona Robbins. My girlfriend."
Javier's jaw drops. Even though it wasn't really of a big surprise to him, the way she stood up for Callie the other day kind of gave it away.
"You need to say something." Callie said as no words came out of her brother's mouth.
"I don't really know what to say... just... what are your intentions with my sister?"
The three of them laugh.
"Do I really need to answer or...?" Arizona asks a little confused.
"You don't have to, you already showed it to me." He says with a smile.
"Oh, I just remembered something." Callie says and approaches her brother, and gives him a punch on the arm.
"Ow!" He yelps. "What was that for?"
"You look at my girlfriend that way again and I'll kill you." She says arching an eyebrow. "You got it?"
"Yes, ma'am! God, you have a strong punch."
"That's what you get when you eat my girlfriend with your eyes." She says. "Plus you're a married man, so control yourself."
"I'm married but I'm not blind... and with all due respect, you're very beautiful Arizona."
"Thank you." Arizona says blushing once again.
They stay in the room talking for a little longer until Javier checks his watch and stands up.
"Well, I have to go now. My plane leaves tonight."
"Wait, you're leaving tonight?"
"Yes, today was my last shot. Thank God I got it right."He says with a smile. "I have a very important surgery tomorrow."
"Where are you living?" Arizona asks.
"Well, I'm closer now. We moved to Canada three years ago."
"Good, not too far." Callie says.
"Well, I gotta go, you two take care of each other, got it?"
"Wait... what about dad and Aria?" Callie asks.
"I still have to talk to Aria and dad... I'd rather not talk to him. And Calliope, please, do not tell him I came to you or anything... and don't be mad at him either, just..."
"Okay..." Callie says with a sigh. "I'll see you soon?"
"Hopefully." He answers hugging his sister.
"See you soon, Javier."Arizona says and gets a hug from him too.
"You can call me Javi." He says.
"Got it." She smiles.
They walk him to the door and Callie gives him one last long hug before closing the door behind him.
She turns to find Arizona sat on the stool at her kitchen counter. She approaches the blonde and fits herself between her legs.
"How are you feeling?" Arizona asks.
"I'm feeling really good... thank you for giving me a little push." She says placing a kiss on the blonde's lips.
"You're welcome." Arizona replies giving the other woman a quick peck on the lips.
"So, how about we go to that bakery now and I cook you dinner later?" Callie suggests.
"That would be great."
What a nice way to finish the week.
