Crazy…
Tap, tap, tap.
I'm crazy for feeling so lonely…
Inhale.
I'm crazy…
Exhale.
Crazy for feeling blue…
Papa was listening to his "Crazy" song again. He has been singing the line over and over again.
I'm crazy for trying
And crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you…
Maka pushed herself away from her work desk in the bed room. The song was tiring her out. It made her think of him when she didn't want to. It made her feel so bad and so wrong. Why can't she forget about the night?
It has been four days since she walked from Soul's apartment. Four days that her heart has been aching. Four days of suffering from an unnamed condition. Four days of loving him. She rubbed her scalp madly. It was a one night stand. It was only one night but yet, it was beautiful.
She felt amazing when they first kiss. The fireworks she felt back in her high school days reignited. His lips were so soft and his hands. His hands were gentle but strong. She couldn't believe that he picked her up. It was something you would see in the movies. There were so many emotions happening at once, so many feelings that were being expressed. All in the one room, she felt like herself again. She felt completed, kind of vulnerable but completed. It couldn't have been more than perfect to happen.
But morning came.
The icy chilled passed her body. Maka felt troubled. If only it would stop and if only she could undo what has happened. She clasped her hands in her lap. She wished she didn't care. Why does she care so much?
Maka exhaled loudly to exit some of her troubles. She looked up to the ceiling, leaning slightly back on her chair. What would have happened if Soul never showed up?
Knock, knock, knock.
Someone was at the door.
"Is anyone in there?" Maka moved her chair to the door. She noticed the song has taken a leave and someone she knew was outside her door. Should she answer it?
"Maka?" She continued to stare. Maybe it will be quick visit. Maka stood up to answer the door but she was too slow. Before she could take a step farther, there was a rumble in the hallway outside her door.
"Ready or not!" Someone opened the door. "Here we come!" Patty flew into the room like a paper airplane. Patty wrapped her right arm around Maka's neck, pulling her down into the bed. Maka froze from the gesture.
"Patty! You gotta be careful!" Liz walked into the room with her arms crossed. She sounded a bit sympatric but funny. Patty giggled as Maka lay on her bed. Her hair must have spread out like a peacock. Patty started poking Maka in the cheek.
"We missed you Maka!" Maka looked at Patty and Liz.
"There was not much to miss."
"Oh yes there was," Liz walked to the chair Maka was sitting on moments ago. "What happened to you?" Maka turned her face towards Liz while patty continued to poke her cheek. What should Maka tell Liz? Oh, I went home. The club was a little too much for me. Maka wouldn't be lying too much about that. She did leave the club, except she left for a different reason. Would Liz be able to tell if she told a lie?
"I left." Maka couldn't lie to Liz.
"We know!" Patty smiled widely. Liz nodded in agreement. "Where did you go?" Maka froze again. She tried to stay still since patty was laying right next to her. She didn't want Patty to feel her control but deep breaths. What should she tell them?
"I met someone." The air in the room stood still. Maka looked at Patty and Liz, turning her head quickly to see each of their expressions. She could feel the shaking of Patty's body. She could feel the long stare from Liz. Everything stood still and time felt nonexistent. Maka slightly let a breathe go but not much. Here was the funny thing she felt about everything. Maka didn't know if she should be scared or surprise. A noise finally escaped Liz's lungs.
"You what?!" It was Patty who spoke first. Liz smiled and giggled and spin the chair around and side to side. Okay, maybe Maka should be terrified.
"Do we know him?!" Liz leaned in with her curious expression. Maka was in trouble now.
"Maybe her?!"
"Patty! Maka doesn't go that way!" Liz wheeled her way to Maka to quietly whisper another comment. "Or do you?" Maka jumped from her bed to answer the questions.
"No, no!" Maka waved her hands. "It's nothing like that. I simply left the club with someone!"
"With who?!" Liz and Patty pushed into Maka's personal space and stared with more curiosity than before. This was getting a little too much for Maka. A part of her wanted to tell them about what had really happened but another part said leave it. Liz and Patty waited for Maka's answer. Each minute that passed made Maka worry more and more about telling the truth. What should she say?
"Do we know this person Maka?" Liz slightly pushed back from Maka's personal space. She looked a little worry as the chair moved a couple of hair. Maybe Liz was able to read the struggle on Maka's face. Maybe she should tell them. Patty looked at Liz and reenact what Liz did. She also moved away from Maka. Liz wanted for some kind of response. Maka was still hesitant about what to do. It will be okay.
Finally, Maka answered.
"I left with Soul."
