Rock was awoken by a very slow and painful knocking at his door. At first he had thought that it was one of balalaika's new trainees who had taken a liking to him and failed quite consistently but then he had remembered that the pitiful young adult was still most definitely in Roanapur
The Japanese man then groaned and got out of bed before putting on a shirt and some decent pants and going to answer the door
"Hello rock" his 'fiancée' greeted looking down at the ground shamefully
"Hi Revy, what's up?" rock had asked immediately. She looked as if she had just single handedly fucked up a job with a HUGE pay out and lost several of her guns in the process
"I…I lost it" she said simply before putting her hands to her face
"You what?" rock questioned with genuine confusion
"I lost the engagement ring"
Oh.
What?
"How?" rock questioned
"I don't know. One minute I remember having it and then the next…" Revy said looking up at him in the eye before back at the ground.
Rock thought long and hard about this. There was no way that someone had stolen it because Revy was a master thief, no way that she had just put it down somewhere because by the look in her demeanor she had torn up her hotel room looking for—

'"I can't wear this!" she shouted taking it off and placing it on the table "how the hell did you even manage to buy a 50 grand ring in Paris?"'
...
"Now that I think about it you may have left it at my parent's house" rock told her and something clicked in Revy's mind
"Oh yea…" she said slowly before her cheeks flamed with embarrassment "not. One. Word"
"So you DON'T want to come in and eat breakfast with me?" rock asked as he turned
"Yea, sure" Revy said quickly before pushing past rock and entering his apartment.
Rock smiled and immediately got to making Revy something to eat. He was the only one who bothered to cook back at the black lagoon base
"Rock, hurry it the hell up, I'm hungry!" Revy shouted at her partner as she slammed her foot against his coffee table
"Patience is a virtue" rock hummed not looking away from his hot stove. Revy opened her mouth to complain some more but then another knock came at the door.
"I'll get it" Revy said getting up and going to answer the door
The brunette quickly pried open rock's front door and frowned as she saw Shenhua
"Oh. You still alive?" the Taiwanese woman stated "we beginning to think you got killed, Chang would not like that"
"Why are you hear chinglish?" Revy asked simply leaning on rock's doorframe.
Shenhua pushed her way inside and quickly headed to his living room
"please take off your shoes, you're tracking blood inside" rock said without looking back, he had learned the sound of blood stained shoes overtime and didn't appreciate the thought of having to clear it up-as any maid who would be hired to do it in his stead would ask questions, call the cops or y'know it would just be really awkward between them...
The footsteps stopped and rock listened as the Taiwanese beauty took off her heels then moved silently to his TV set and turned it on
"Thank you" rock smiled
"You won't be thanking me in moment" Shenhua told the Japanese man as a news channel appeared.
Revy didn't pay attention to the news at first but the mention of one particular place over and over sparked her attention.
Roanapur?
Rock turned
"Why is Roanapur on a Japanese news channel?" rock asked turning off the stove and starting to pay careful attention to the news channel
"The man who we did job for put spotlight on Roanapur" Shenhua said unhappily "he think he stop himself from dying but we have to take him out now"
"Is that really ok?" rock asked "if we kill him in the global spotlight it might give other countries a legitimate incentive to get rid of the city"
"….maybe we ask Chang again" Shenhua stated picking up a phone
"Or we can ask balalaika" rock said taking his house phone away from her "she's the top boss in the city's foreign policy and all these problems fall mainly in her hands"
"Right" Revy nodded "makes sense"
Rock dialled the Russian woman's number and only had to wait a few moments before she picked up
"Hello Rock" balalaika greeted knowingly
"What's going on down in Roanapur?"
"Always to the point…" balalaika sighed before lighting a smoke "we're going to hold a meeting about this issue, I was hoping you could get down here and attend"
"I can't" rock stated "I'm still stuck up here in japan"
"Dutch didn't explain to me your situation" balalaika sad thoughtfully
Rock sighed and started to give balalaika a quick explanation. The blonde listened quietly on the other side of the line except for when she took the occasional long breath of her cigar
"…and that's that" rock finished
There was a short pause.
Then balalaika started laughing
"Oh my god that is the most retarded thing I've ever heard" she said as her laugh resounded in rocks living room
Revy's face went red with both shame and anger
"Oh well" balalaika breathed as she finally calmed down "congratulations"
"Thank you" rock smiled
"Well, I have a meeting to prepare for and a business to run so goodbye"

Rock hung up a moment after balalaika
"so we just sit pretty until bosses decide what to do?" Shenhua shrugged before picking up her heels and starting to head out of the house "it may look safe but you two be careful, I hear Japanese man is doing something dirty"
"Will do" Revy nodded "I think I'll sleep at my place then" she told rock
"Why?" rock asked unhappily
"So that bastard doesn't bring you into this" Revy said sharply "now hurry up and finish with dinner"
Rock smiled "thank you for being so considerate" he sang before going back over to the stove and continuing to cook for his 'fiancée'

I know this is short but i have the rest of the story written out…Well the rest until the end of part 1
I've decided part one Is all about japan but part two is going to be more emphasised on killing people because the plot will call for it more and I don't really feel the need to kill people left and right in part 1 because….urgh. you'll understand soon.
But part two will focus on more killing And Revy and rocks relationship after the end of part one.
I originally planned to have a sex scene in part 1 but…no. it just doesn't really fit anywhere where I've written in the first part of this story but it may come MUCH later—if I decide to continue this story past japan.
