The first thing Luke noticed upon regaining consciousness, was that he was no longer in his bed at the temple. The second thing he noticed, was that he was completely naked! Looking around the room he found himself in. He saw the the floor was made of polished stone. The walls were like wise made of stone and the color of rustic red, with intricate designs on them. Against the far wall were two stone statues of Jedi with lightsabers ignited. There was a dresser against one wall and what Luke guessed was a closet door beside it.
Holo's of Jedi made up the decorations of the room. Despite the Jedi motif of the room, it was actually pretty spartan. 'How did I get here? And just exactly where is here?' He thought to himself. Luke could tell the room belonged to a Jedi, but the architecture didn't match the Temple on Coruscant. Nor did it match the Academy on Ossus, or even the old Praxeum on Yavin 4!
It was then, that the memories of the previous night came flooding back. Seeing his late wife Mara, the talk with his Father, and most importantly the mission... No! Not mission, the gift he had been given! 'I'm in the past! And this Must be the Jedi temple on Tython!' Luke thought in awe.
It was at that moment that Luke felt a chill go up his body. that had nothing to do with the sudden revelation.
'I've got to find some clothes!' He thought after the reminder of his nakedness. The Force had sent him back alright, but it had sent him without a thing to wear or even his... "SITH SPIT! MY LIGHTSABER?!" He cursed out loud. He looked around the room, but knew that it was useless. His lightsaber just like his clothes had been left in his time.
'Perfect! Just perfect! Now I've got to make another one!' Thought Luke rather bitterly. 'Ah-well first things first! Clothes.'
Luke walked over to what he hoped was a closet, activating the controls. The door slid to the side, reveling a row of cloaks of various colors. Ranging from white, brown, dark brown, and black. But what really caught Luke's attention, was instead of the traditional Jedi robes that he expected. There was a multitude of black and brown skin tight bodysuits. And stacked neatly in the corner was pieces of silver colored body armor.
Not having much choice in the matter, Luke grabbed a brown bodysuit and put it on. Over the bodysuit Luke fastened the armor plus a utility belt, finishing off the look with a black short sleeved cloak. Luke marveled at just how light the body armor felt, it was nowhere near as heavy as the Stormtrooper armor he had wore as a disguise to rescue his sister from the Death-Star. Yet it felt like it could take twice the amount of damage.
Luke walked over to a mirror, to get a look at what it looked like on him, only to stop a stare in shock at his reflection. When Luke had gone to sleep the night before he had been a 64 year old man! But now he looked...and now that he thought about it felt younger! Now he looked like a man of 40 to 45. And that wasn't all that shocked him. Where before he had been of an average height of 5ft 6in, he now stood at about 6ft to 6ft 1in.
'What in the Force is going on!?' Thought Luke. It was then he realized that is exactly what was going on 'The Force!' It was the only thing Luke could come up with to explain his de-Aging and sudden growth spurt! Thought that still didn't explain why! But it was the Force, so Luke doubted he would ever truly know. Shaking his head, to clear his thoughts. Luke decided he had better have a look around. After all until his father's old friend showed up, he really didn't know what else to do. Exiting the room, Luke found himself in a long hallway lined with even more holo's of long lost Jedi.
Walking along the hallway Luke saw several Cleaning and Maintenance Droids, doing the job they had been programed to do for the last few thousand years. 'Hm? So that's how this temple is still standing. Three millennia and these Droids are still going! It's amazing just what our ancestors were able to build!'
Luke soon came upon a room, much like a class room. Standing slumped over in the corner of the room was an ancient Protocol Droid, it seemed to be shut down. Hoping that he could get some information from it, Luke entered the room. After inspecting the droid to make sure it was still in working order, Luke switched it on.
The Droid stood straight up and shook his head as if just waking up, before taking notice of Luke. "Oh, Hello. I am C2-N3, Jedi Assistants Droid. How may I be of service?" Asked the droid in a prim and proper kind of voice, similar to C-3PO's
"Hello Seetoo. I am Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, I was hoping you could answer some questions of mine?" Asked Luke, happy that the Droid seemed to be functioning okay after so many thousands of years.
"Why of course! I would be more then happy to assist a Master of the Order." Said Seetoo, in what could pass as an excited tone of voice.
"Alright. Do you know why the Temple was abandoned and is there anyone else here?" Asked Luke.
"Accessing Temple Records." Spoke Seetoo. "The Temple was abandoned approximately 3,602 standard years ago. At the end of the Second Great Galactic War, that followed the Jedi Cold War. Grand Master Satele Shan ordered the Jedi back to Coruscant, to begin the rebuilding of the Temple there. The last Sentient to enter this Temple before you, was the Jedi Master known as the Brasen'thor or 'Warden of the Order'. He returned 15 standard years after the close of the Second Great Galactic War, in order to return the Hilt of the First Blade to Tython."
"What's the First Blade?" Asked Luke curiously.
"The First Blade was the vary first Jedi Weapon. The ancestor of the Lightsaber. It's hilt was used to make a Lightsaber by Brasen'thor, when he first became a knight." Replied Seetoo.
"Is it still in the Temple?" Asked Luke, hoping against hope that it was.
"Yes. It is in the vault in the High Council Chamber." Replied Seetoo.
"That's great! Where in the Temple is the Council Chamber located? And why you are at it, in what part of the Temple am I?" Asked Luke Excitedly, Glad to have a lead on a possible Lightsaber. For no matter how much armor he was wearing, he still felt naked without a Lightsaber.
"The Council Chamber is located on the top most floor of the Temple. As for where we are currently standing. We are on Sub Level Three – Master's Quarters, in Study Room 4. If you will give me a moment I will give you a map of the Temple." With that said, C2-N3 walked over to a storage cabinet and pulled out what looked like an ancient Datapad. Before he handed it to Luke. "Here you are, Master Luke. This is a full map of the Temple. Is there anything else you require?"
"No thank you, that will do for now Seetoo." Said Luke to the Droid.
"As you will Sir. Be sure to let me know, should you be in need of assistants again." Said Seetoo
"I will Seetoo, thank you."Said Luke, before making his way to where the map showed a Turbolift. A very short ride later, Luke stepped out of the lift to stare in wonder at the Grand Lobby of the Jedi Temple. While nothing compared to the Temple on Coruscant. Luke found he rather preferred this Temple, in a lot of ways it reminded him of his old Praxeum on Yavin 4. Not large but very peaceful.
In the center of the lobby, in between two walkways leading up. Was a large floating dodecahedron shaped object that was orbited by two smaller dodecahedrons. Walking up the object, Luke found a plaque in front of the repulsorlift that kept it suspended. The plaque read.
The Eye of Zallow.
In Memory of Master Ven Zallow, who gave his life in the defense of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.
"A Jedi must always stay calm and focused. Even in the heart of chaos." - Ven Zallow.
Luke bowed his head in respect to the fallen Master, before noticing a heavy double door on the upper level. 'That must be the High Council Chamber.' Thought Luke, making his way up one of the walkways.
Walking through the double doors, Luke came to a large round room with a table in the middle. The table was surrounded by chairs and had a holo projector in the center. But what caught Luke's attention was the large vault door in the back of the room. As he approached the vault, a hologram of a woman with short black hair with two braided pony tails framing her face appeared.
"Only the light can break the darkness." Said the Hologram cryptically.
'Only the light can break the darkness? It must be some kind of riddle, but what could it mean?' Thought Luke. 'Light could refer to a Lightsaber or the Light Side of the force. But Sith also have Lightsabers, so it must mean the Light Side of the Force. Darkness could be referring to the Dark Side...Or it could be a reference to the darkness you would find inside a vault!'
Believing he had found his answer, Luke poured Light Side Energy into the vault door. Less then a minuet later, Luke heard a click and the door slid to the side.
"Well done!." Said the Hologram before it faded away.
Walking into the vault, lights started to flicker on. Luke looked around the vault, he saw that there were a few Holocrons, and some cube like things that pulsed with power. Deciding to investigate those later. Luke moved on to what he came in here for, the Lightsaber handle in the middle of the room. Inspecting the handle Luke could see that it was fairly large, meant for a two handed grip and possibly to hold multiple crystals. There were also runes of an unknown language inscribed on the Hilt.
Luke could feel Light Side Energy flowing from the Hilt. Whoever its previous owner, this Brasen'thor was, he or she was a true Bastion of the Light. Hitting the switch on the hilt, Luke was disappointed to see nothing happen. Letting out a sigh of frustration, Luke knew instantly what was wrong. It would seem that Luke would have to go Crystal hunting.
"Hello Luke." Called out a voice from behind, startling the Grand Master. Luke spun around to behold a shimmering silver Force Ghost. The Ghost had long light brown hair that was graying, as well as a beard.
"Um hello..." Luke trailed off.
"Oh! Yes, sorry. Qui-Gon Jinn. I'm an old friend of your fathers." Said the Force Ghost, now known as Qui-Gon.
"You're the one my father said would help in my mission." Said Luke, wondering how a Force Ghost was going to help in his quest.
"Yes, I will appear from time to time to help point you in the right direction." Said Qui-Gon, with a soft smile.
"Good! Then maybe you could point me in the direction of a Lightsaber Crystal. This thing is only a paper weight without one." Said Luke as he held up the Hilt of the First Blade.
"I do believe that there is a Crystal Cave not too far from here. Maybe a few hours walk, but you might want to be careful. There is a rather vicious primitive race, know as Flesh Raiders in between here and there. Luckily they are also superstitious, and believe this Temple to be cursed. So they don't come near it. If you go to the Map Room on the opposite side of the Temple Archive, you should be able to find it's location." Said Qui-Gon, as he pointed in the direction of the Map Room.
Luke walked to the Map Room and pulled up the layout of the area with in a twenty mile radius of the temple. Uploading the map to his Datapad, Luke got the coordinates of the Crystal Cave. After getting the coordinates that he needed Luke exited the Temple, noticing as he did so just how truly small the Tython Temple was in comparison to the one on Coruscant. If this was going to be the Home Base of the Order and the new Rebellion, then he was going to have to add on to the Temple.
Making a mental note of it for later, Luke once again check the map for the coordinates of the Crystal Cave. Qui-Gon had said that there was a violent race in between here and there. Deciding that it would be for the best to avoid a fight until he had a working lightsaber, Luke prepared to use the Force Technique 'Fold Space'. While Luke had only ever used it to transport objects, Luke knew that in theory one could use to transport themselves too and from a location but this would be his first time to try it.
Taking a deep breath and closing his eyes Luke opened himself to the flow of the Force, picturing the space between himself and the cave folding in on itself bringing the cave too where he was. Luke took one step forward and released the technique. Opening his eyes Luke saw that he was no longer at the Temple, but at the mouth of a cave. Letting out the breath he had been holding Luke sagged in relief. 'It worked! It actually worked!' Thought a stunned Luke.
Stretching out his awareness in the Force, so as to not be caught unawares of an attack. Luke stepped into the cave, and began to fallow its winding path. After about fifteen minutes of walking Luke came to a large round cavern in the cave with crystals of differing colors. As Luke was looking at the different crystals formations, he began to feel a pull towards a small formation in the center of the cave. Walk slowly towards the crystal Luke reached out his hand to touch the crystal, only to pull his hand back in shock right after having barely touched it.
Luke looked on in shock at the crystal he had just touched. He had never heard of this ever having happened, usually a Jedi would have to meditate with his crystal for weeks while pouring the force into it, to get it to bond to him! That was part of the reason building a lightsaber took so long. He had never heard of a crystal bonding to someone after only having touched it once!
But sure enough Luke could now feel the presence of the crystal as surly as he had been able to feel Mara's after they had Force bonded. Shaking his head to clear it, Luke reached out with the Force to the crystal that he was now bonded too. He could feel it almost hum with power! Figuring that this was the one he was meant for, Luke took a shard from the formation. Having got what he had came for, Luke headed for the exit, using the Fold Space Technique once he was out side to return to the Temple.
Wiping the sweat from his face, Luke looked upon his newly completed Lightsaber. Having installed the crystal as well as replacing the power cell and adding a blade length adjustment knob. The only thing left for him to do was turn it on. Taking another deep breath Luke picked up the lightsaber and ignited the blade, with a snap hiss a blade of the purest silver sprang forth. Taking a few practice swings Luke felt as well as saw the blade. Smiling in satisfaction Luke disengaged the blade, before putting the hilt on his belt.
"Truly a blade as unique as it's master."
"Qui-Gon!" Exclaimed Luke as the Force Ghost appeared in front of him.
"Sorry if I startled you. Though a former Grand Master of the Order outta know to be mindful of his surroundings." Chastised the Force Ghost jokingly.
"Haha!" Replied Luke sarcastically. "So what can I do for you Master Qui-Gon?"
"I just came to ask you what you thought your next step should be?"
"Well first things first, I need to think of a way off this planet. I suppose I could use the Fold Space Technique, but I'm little worried about the amount of power it will take to get to another planet." Said Luke.
"Your father didn't tell you about the ship that was left here?" Asked Qui-Gon with a raised eyebrow.
"Ship!? What ship?" Asked Luke in surprise.
"Figures he would forget to tell you. I swear your mother takes up most of the space in his head. Well fallow me and I will show you." Said Qui-Gon as he turned and headed out of the room with Luke fallowing close behind.
A few minutes later they walked into one of the Temples hanger bays. In it Luke saw a ship unlike any make or model he had ever seen before. In all honesty it looked like the love child of the Millennium Falcon and a Tie Interceptor!
"Well there you go. A ship all your own, but be careful with her she's a classic." Said Qui-Gon humorously.
"Classic? It looks ancient!" Said Luke.
"Well she is over three thousand years old. But don't worry the Force has preserved it, so everything in it should still work perfectly." Said Qui-Gon as they walked up the ramp.
Luke couldn't keep the awe off his face as he explored the ship, it truly was a work of art. If you overlooked all the out of date systems on it that would have to be replaced at the earliest possible convenience. It had a large communications room With a large Holoprojector, a meeting room, cargo bay, and crew quarters that looked to hold at least six comfortably. Medbay, Bridge, and Captain's quarters.
It was in the Captains quarters that Luke came across a datapad. Turning on the datapad Luke scrolled to the last few message on it opening one it read.
Master Kray. Republic Intelligence has intercepted a Sith cargo freighter, that had this Fury-class Interceptor on board. R and D has gutted the inside of the ship, and redid the interior to be more to a Jedi's liking. Replacing all the red lighting to a more calming gold. As well as replacing all Sith architecture with that of a Jedi.
The out side has remained the same however in the hope that it will help to slip past Sith lines.
Signed, Gen: Cal Mordin.
Scrolling to the next message that was dated two weeks after the first, Luke understood why the ship had been left here.
VECTORY! The war is over! The Light and the Republic are victorious! The Sith are on full retreat, We have won!
Signed, Grand Master: Satele Shan.
It would stand to reason that with the war over this ship would no longer have had a purpose and thus was left here when the Jedi had returned to Coruscant. Walking onto the bridge of the ship, Luke came across an Astromech droid that was deactivated to the side of the bridge. Walking up to the droid Luke powered it on. It came to life beeping and chirping in binary, it's head spinning and taking in the room before it focused on Luke.
"Beep-Bleep Beep wrooo Beep!/T7-01 ready to serve." Beeped the little Astromech excitedly.
"Hello TeeSeven, I'm Master Luke Skywalker." Said Luke smiling at the astromech droid, the little droid beeped again asking how he could help the Jedi Master.
"Alright I want you to run a self diagnostic and if everything comes back good, Then start checking the ship and see if everything is space worthy." The Droid did as asked, After a few moments TeeSeven reported that he was operating at a hundred percent. Then left to start a check of the ship. Meanwhile Luke set about familiarizing himself with the controls.
"Might I make a small suggestion on where you should go first?" Asked Qui-Gon once again making his presence known.
Luke walked along the large space-station hidden in an asteroid field know as the Foundry. After having arrived in the room Qui-Gon had told him to go to. Luke opened himself to the flow of the force once again, seeing not with his eyes but with the Force. Luke perceived a Shatter-Point A few feet in front of him. Pouring the Force into the point, it shattered with a burst of violet energy.
After it faded away Luke beheld a man laying on the floor, wearing a brown cloak and a mask. The man that had been frozen in time for over three thousand years. The one that Qui-Gon had sent him to free.
