"Sir, my men and I have searched most major cities and the outer rim of Rai, the boy has not been found." A soldier says bowing before me.

"Any Information on the boy?" I ask, looking off to the window that lined the throne room. Grey clouds line the orange horizon just outside the village square.

It has already been 3 days since my wife's death and the boy's burst of rage at the healing centre. I do not blame the child for being angry, I was as well. But to attack innocent people and my children was not okay.

"Javen Waters, 15 years old, lives in the North west part of town with or was living with his mother, he trained in the lower class of knights and has yet to complete school." the solider said still bowing.

"At ease and what of his father." I ask watching the soldier stand, placing his hands behind his back, but the still soldier did not look at me.

"He died before the boy was born in the attack, he died in an attack similar to the one 3 days ago. He was also part of the lower class knights."

"thank you Brice, ask Travis and his men to find the culprits." I said, Brice bows again then turning around and walking towards the doors. "Oh and Brice, next time look at me when speaking."

"Yes your lord, as you wish." He says before walking out, closing the doors behind him.

"Quite a storm coming."

"Your Right Father." I look over to the throne room doors, there stood my father, wearing his usually annoying white robe, he was smiling at me.

"Rosaline loved days didn't she?"

Memories of my beautiful wife flooded back. There was so many, the one's where she was happiest was on days it was raining, just like the day I met her. She was standing in the middle of a lake as it poured down, she was smiling. Other memories were of Zig and Zoe's birth, it was also raining on these days as well. Rosaline was always the happiest on rainy days.

"Yeah she did." I say, the grey cloud rolling closer.

"When is her burial? He brother wants to know, so he can tell his parents as well." My father says walking towards me, noticing my discomfort.

"In two days time."

He places his hands on my shoulders looking into my eyes, my fathers unusual orange eyes look at me with sadness. He knows that Zoey and Zig will have to grow up without their mother just like I did. Zoey probably won't even remember who her mother is as grows older. I look down not wanting my father to see me crying, it wasn't right for the king to cry over such a silly matter, there is still people needing a king.

"Son, do not hide your tears especially not from me or your children. There don't need a King they need a Father." My father whispers, lifting my chin so he could see my face. "It's not shameful."

"I know." I whisper back, wiping away my tears.

"She would not want to cry over her death, she would want you comfort your children."

That was all he said before disappearing, leaving me alone to continue to watch the grey clouds rolling over the city. Rosaline really did love rainy days, maybe the sky was mourning her death.

10 years later.

"Come on Thomas, we will miss the parade." A cheerful voice rings through the watchtower room. Behind me stood the last person I wanted to see today, I turn around, feelings of dread wash over me. Zig was standing at the entranced of the room. He was wearing his usually white armoured pants with matching boots, his cloth shirt rolled up above his elbows and his sliver chest plate freshly polished and usual Zig was smiling.

"Come on Thomas." He yells placing his hands on his hips, still smiling.

"Zig there is no need to rush; we can go see the afternoon parade." I say trying to buy as much as possible. Toady was a day like no other, today the people of Rai celebrated and worshipped the great and wonderful gods that watched and protected us from harm. The Gods are probably looking at me with disgust and anger. They should at least be thanking me; I'm at least trying to save Zig's life. But I knew what I'm doing is cowardly, I'm abounding my king, my friend and the people who I vowed to protect, so I can save sorry little ass.

"But the morning parade is always the better one out of the two." He whines hopping from one to another, just like a child would when waiting for their parents to get ready. I always seem to forget just how childish he really is and he never acts serious, even in his father's presence. He may act childish but it's to hide how scared he is when he knows he has disappointed someone.

"Zig there is no difference between the two parades; one is just later than the other." I tell him. He looks at me, confusion etched across his face; he must have noticed the slight discomfort and uneasiness in my voice. He eyes study me like a book, m mental block stopping him from reading my mind, but I knew his own mental wall stops him doing that.

"I-is something wrong-g?" Zig whispers his smile fading. For some reason Zig changes from an overly cheerful person to a shy and scared child, it always happens when he tries to get his opinion across or when asking unwanted questions when surround by older more mature people, who seem to ignore or scold him for doing so. All I know it has something to do with the burn that covers his collar-bone down to his right upper arm, which could easily hid by his shirts.

"No everything is fine, why?" I ask knowing that he will not tell unless you ask.

"You looked anxious and very worried." Zig again whispers looking down at his feet, avoiding eye contact.

"I'm just worried about you, being surround by a lot of people could cause some trouble." I say, knowing the plan was to have Zig go to the parade and would be distracted by the overwhelming emotions, then have the dark knights attack him, so that he can take over without having to fight Zig. Smart idea, but I would never let that happen even if it means having to betray his trust hopeful to save him some pain. 'And really think that's only pain he'll receive.' I thought to myself. Zig brought my lie because another smile creeps on to his face.

"You're a really great friend, Thomas." Zig says cheerful looking out the window; I walk over and look out as well. Masses of people were all heading towards the centre of the city. It was a nice day for a celebration, the skies were clear of any clouds and wasn't a very hot day, which made more people go outside and enjoy the day. Such a perfect day but would be ruined in a matter of minutes.

"Zig will we always be friends?" I ask, making Zig turn and look at me with a confused smile.

"Why wouldn't we." Zig asks hesitantly, alarm flashing in his eyes.

"Just answer the question?" I yell scaring Zig a little. I calm down giving Zig a reassuring smile.

"Yes, of course we will, why?" He whispers the last part.

"I…I've done something terrible." I say looking Zig in the eye. I slowly turn to look at him; he backs away as I advance towards him.

"What did you do?" Zig whispers, back slamming against another glass window.

"I'm so sorry Zig." I say, pulling a syringe out of my short's pocket.

"Thomas." Zig whispers looking towards the door. He tries running, but I grab his arm spinning him around to face me, I wanted to see the betrayal in his eyes, so I never forgive myself for what I did. I stab the syringe into his arm using more than I wanted to. He flinched and let out a yelp, as I inject the contents into him. Zig's tears were like rivers after a storm, tears continued to flow out of his eyes.

"Why?' He chokes out, falling to his knees sending me down as well.

"I'm trying to protect you." I say pulling out the syringe, my own tears falling down my face now. I never wanted to hurt him, he told me to, unless I wanted to watch as he kills Zig in front of me.

After a few seconds Zig's body goes limb, I lower him slowly to the ground not wanting to hurt him more than I already have. I stand up wiping away my tears as two dark knights walk into the room. They pick up Zig by his arms and drag him out of the room. I stood there for a few staring out the window to watch as dozens of citizens roamed the streets searching the stalls that lined the roads and pathways. I would usually be making sure that all those citizens are having a wonderful day and reassure them that nothing bad is going to happen, but I'll be the one who ruins their day.

Someone save us please.

"Thank you, Honey, for coming with me." My father says as he sits down on a miniature version of his throne. The chair was dark oak wood and had ancient Rai language craved into it. The cushions were a royal red colour, there were especially made for these types of occasions which went on for hours and hours. My chair was a similar design but smaller of course.

"That's fine father, it's not like Zig would come anywhere." I huffed; I would have rather been at home reading and trying to forget about the outside world. But of course not, Zig got up before I did and said he was going to do patrol with Thomas, and this result in Cindy and I going to the opening parade for the gods. What annoys me the most is that Zig is the next in line for the Throne but doesn't take up any of the responsibility? This makes more work for dad and less time he spends time with us.

"The head knights might have given him a mission?" My father questions, I roll my eyes, Zig hardly ever has missions and when he does there are usually lies so he can go hang out with Thomas, who supposedly knows Zig better than any of his family.

"He's lying to you again; he's gone to go see Thomas so they can go see the parade together." I sigh; my father gives me a smile.

"I know, but it's like I don't know him anymore." My father sighs heavily. I look at him confused, what does dad mean by that? Zig has always been like that, too immature for his age, running off with Thomas and never being serious around the elders. No wonder they punish him all the time?

"What do you mean you don't know him anymore?"

"Well he was never this childish, he was a bit like you when he was little and then he suddenly changed, he started lying to me, running away, getting on the bad side of the elders, abusing his power….."

"Abusing his powers." I yell. This isn't right he would have never done that, his body never showed any signs of him using his powers like that. (Signs would usually be hair changing from pure white to black, one eye changes colour and weird markings etched across the skin.)

"He only abused them once, his abused his telepathic abilities, he attacked one the elders which resulted in Zig receiving a permanent mental block placed in his mind." He answers, I knew he was missing important details; the only other people who would know about this situation would of course be the elders, Brice and of course Zig , himself. The elders would never discuss matters that involved members, Uncle Angelo might know about what happen than again why would he tell me for? Now, Brice was easier to get answers especially when you know his little secrets. I don't think Zig would tell me because it bring up unwanted memories or he might not remember at all.

"What happened after that."

"From what Brice told me, he started hanging out with Thomas more, that's all I know." He says slouching further into his chair; he looked down to watch people walk among the streets.

"Exercise me, Father, I'll be back." I say getting up, there is something he serious isn't telling and getting on my nerves. Zig is annoying but he's still my brother and something obviously has happened and made him change and I'm getting to the bottom of it, starting by blackmailing Brice.

"Wait right there Princess." A voice rang through the room. I freeze; Dad is suddenly in front of me. I could just see between his arm and his chest, at the door stood a guy in a black trench coat, he had midnight black hair, I couldn't see his eyes but what made me freeze was Brice, whom had been fallen over the man's shoulder. From where I was looking from Brice's right leg was in awkward angle, his once white armoured pants that now ed, which I was hoping wasn't stained with his blood. But where was Cindy, she was with Brice

"Who are you? And what do you want?" My Father growls drawing his sword, Brice was like a son to him, a child fit for the throne.

"I wouldn't do that." The man says, slamming Brice into the ground, earning a loud moan/scream from Brice. He had landed on his broken leg, pushing it into even more awkward angle if that could happen. The man kneeled behind Brice, grabbing his hair and placing a knife to his throat. Dad sheathed his sword again.

"What surprises me is two of most important in Rai are safe or you were but Zig is not. You serious love Brice more than your own son. Don't you?" The man says, pressing the blade further into Brice's throat, blood dripping from the cut. Of course dad would love Zig more than Brice; Zig was dad's own flesh and blood.

"Should I care for Zig's safety, mine is more important." He did not just say that, my father doesn't care for his own son's safety.

"You're disgraceful and to think you were the king I looked up to." The man growls pulling on Brice's hair, making him groan.

"People change, Javen." My father growls back. Javen, who's Javen, why does dad know him and how does he know him. This is the one moment I would love to have telepathic abilities, I could find out the information and would not be so confused. The only thing I could now is help Brice.

"I can see that, but you're as selfish as ever." Javen says.

"What is you want Javen, I don't have all day."

"I want your head on a sliver plater." He growls, before he launches himself out at dad, who had moved away, making Javen fly towards me. I duck down and start crawling towards Brice, who lies groaning on the floor. I kneel next to him, I run my hand over his broken leg, a small green sphere forms on the palm of my hand. Brice looks at me confused; I give him a smile and continue to take the pain away.

An agonizing scream echoes through the room, both Brice and I turn to see my dad with a sword his chest. Blood dripped from the corner of his mouth; his eyes were wide and staring at Javen. Fire crept up Javen's sword, burning dad's skin and insides, gaining another agonizing scream from Dad.

"Stop, you're killing him." I scream the smell of burning flesh fills the air.

"That's the point sweetheart. Cindy, Thomas come on in, you want to see the king being beheaded." Javen calls. Why would this Javen person know who Cindy is and why is he calling her name and calling Thomas name as well, wasn't he with Zig. Oh my God, Zig's in trouble and I can't do anything.

Both Cindy and Thomas walk in, both uninjured. Thomas looked at me with pity but something else was hiding behind those eyes. Cindy doesn't even look at me; she continues walking until she is at Javen's side. Cindy hands Javen another sword, Javen points it at dad's neck, whom is now choking on his own blood. Javen raises the sword and swings. Then everything goes black.
