Chapter 5

"Julie? What kind of name is Julie?" Mark said. He signaled over to the bartender. "Joe, we are going to need another round. Torres, here has had a bad day."

Joe came over and poured the pair another shot. "These are on the house." He gestured.

Callie took the shot and downed it in one swift gulp. "What was Sophia thinking?" She asked.

"I don't know, Cal. Our girl is one smart cookie. She only wants you to be happy." Mark offered.

"Well…what do I do now?" Callie sighed. After the day that she had had there was only word to describe how she felt…defeated.

"That's hard, Cal. I remember how hard it used to be to watch Lexie with Jackson." Mark wrapped his arm around Callie's shoulder to comfort her. "It was excruciating. But I gave it sometime and she came back to me. Look at us now. Arizona just came back into your life, Cal, you can't rush these things. "

"Joe, we are going to need another round over here!" Callie yelled down the bar. "Thanks Joe…Keep 'em coming." She said as the man poured the liquid into the glass. Once again she downed her glass in one swift motion. She slammed the glass down on the bar. "What time is it?"

Mark looked at his watch. "11:18"

"I'll be right back. I have to go to the bathroom." Callie announced as she got up from her seat and stumbled her way into the bathroom. With no intentions of using the restroom for its intended use, Callie sat down in the stall and pulled out her cellphone. In her drunkenness, the Latina tried to mentally calculate what time it would be in Boston. Callie dialed Arizona's number anxiously waiting for her to answer.

"Hi. You've reached Arizona Robbins. I'm unable to answer my phone right now but if you leave me a message I promise I will return your call super-fast!"

Callie hesitated for a second, unsure of what to say. One she started speaking she couldn't stop… "Arizona…It's me. Callie. I know it's late but I wanted to make sure you made it home okay. I hope you made it home okay… I'm going to be honest. I'm at Joe's right now. And I might have had a little too much to drink. But who's counting? Remember our first kiss? Right here in this bathroom? I wish I could kiss you now. But I can't. You have a girlfriend. Julie? What kind of name is Julie? Arizona and Julie? You know what sounds good? Arizona and Callie. I'm still hot you know. I'm still a rock star. I'm still a rock star that totally wants to be with you. I'm going to fight for you…" Callie was still rambling when the machine cut her off. She put the phone back into her pocket and just sat there for a few moments.

"Hey Torres, you alright in there?" Mark yelled into the women's bathroom.

"I'm right here, Mark!" Callie answered. "Can you give me a ride home?"

Mark walked into the room and helped Callie to her feet. Pulling her arm around his neck he guided her out of the bar and to his car.

….

The seven hour flight seemed to literally fly by for Arizona. She gently touched her lips remembering how they felt with Callie's pressed against her own. "This is all going so fast" Arizona whispered to herself. And what about Julie? Arizona truly did care for Julie. They've shared a great relationship over the last year and a half. Julie was smart… kind… attractive… accomplished. She had a way of making Arizona laugh at just the perfect moment when she had had an awful day. Julie was seemingly perfect. The only problem…She wasn't Callie. Over the years Arizona has always wondered what Callie was doing. Was she was okay? Is she Healthy…? Is she Happy…? And then she saw her. When Arizona saw Callie, her heart skipped a beat, just like it had all those years before. Callie was her true love, the true love who she had thought she had lost forever. The true love that maybe should could have again. But there was so much history between them. Could they pick up where they left off? Could they get over the hurt that they both hid deep inside that caused to separate in the first place? Was she willing to just end everything with Julie? "I can't do that to Julie." Arizona whispered to herself.

Arizona cringed at the thought of walking into her own apartment. She knew that Julie would be there. Arizona examined her watch. 2:24am. "Hopefully she will be asleep." She thought. Arizona couldn't bear the thought of trying to explain everything at this hour in the morning. Slowly, she walked inside and noticed all of the lights were off. Arizona dropped her luggage off by the door and checked her phone one last time before heading to bed. She saw that she had a voicemail from and unknown number. "That can wait until tomorrow" She sighed. Arizona quietly walked down the hall and slowly opened the door to their bedroom. Julie was fast asleep. She quickly changed into the pajamas, eased into bed, and wrapped her arms around her girlfriend.

Arizona woke up to an arm wrapped tight around her waist. She had barely opened her eyes when she heard… "Good Morning Beautiful."

"Hi" Arizona lazily replied.

"You must have gotten in late last night." Julie leaned down and gave her partner a peck on the lips. "Why didn't you wake me?"

"Oh I...Umm…It was really late. I didn't want to disturb you."

"So….How was your trip?" Julie asked. "Did you rock your presentation?"

"Yeah, it went well…"Arizona sighed she knew she should just be honest. "We should talk about my trip"

"Yes! We should! I want to hear all about it!" Julie sprang up from her spot on the bed. "But first, I should get some breakfast started. You must be starving!" Julie went to walk out of the room when she picked up Arizona's cell that was resting on the dresser. "Your phone keeps buzzing; you should check it in case it is an emergency." Julie tossed the phone over to Arizona who was still in bed and turned to leave the room. "You want pancakes?"

"Yeah…sure." Arizona replied.

Arizona looked at her alarm clock. 12:46pm. "Ugh…" she thought. "I need to get dressed sometime today." She rose out of bed and turned on the taps for a quick shower. Before getting in Arizona checked her phoned and noticed she had three voicemails. She dialed her voicemail and turned her phone on speaker so she could multitask. Her first message was from Dr. Abrams reminding her about a consult scheduled for the end of the week. She second one was from her mother lecturing her about her lack of contact over the last couple of weeks. "Call Mom" Arizona gave herself a mental note. The last message was from Callie. Arizona giggled as she listened to the drunken voicemail left by Callie. "She's going to fight for me, huh?" Arizona whispered.

Arizona showered quickly. After deciding to let her hair air dry she walked into the kitchen. Inhaling the smell of the delicious meal Julie had just prepared. "Smells yummy!" she announced. "Thank you for making breakfast."

"No problem" Julie answered.

The two women sat down at their table and started in on their breakfast.

"So, how was your trip?" Julie asked.

"It was good…fast. It went by really fast." Arizona was unsure how much she should disclose about her trip. She had modestly said that she was going for a presentation. She didn't say that it was a presentation at a high school for her ex's 16year old daughter.

"Did you get to see any of your old colleagues?" Julie questioned.

"No. Not really." Arizona lied.

"Who's Callie?"
