Chapter 9

Rushing through the front door, Sophia was excited to tell her mother about her newest project at school. Not bothering to knock she raced into her mother's bedroom. "Mom, I'm home. I…"Sophia paused at the surprise of the two women before her. "I…umm…I…I'm sorry. I umm…Ahh… Welcome back, Arizona." Sophia blushed as she closed the door to her mother's room.

'Yesss! My plan worked!' the teenager chuckled to herself as she walked down the hall toward the living room.

As soon as the bedroom door shut Callie turned toward the blonde that was unsuccessfully trying to hide under the covers. Pulling down the barrier that was covering the blondes face, Callie smiled when their eyes met. "The coast is clear. You can come out now, but I'm pretty sure she saw you." The Latina said with a slight touch of sarcasm in her voice. Both women laughed in unison as Arizona emerged from under the covers.

"So much for Sophia not knowing I'm here." Arizona said wryly.

"We better get out of bed." Callie said, swiftly pulling Arizona closer toward her, and quickly taking her lips into her own and then turning to exit her side of the bed. "I hope you're ready for this…"

"Why wouldn't I be ready?" Arizona asked, as she watched Callie change into a more suitable pair of clothes, admiring the view that was before her.

"Arizona, she's a teenager. Who knows what she will say or do?" Callie joked as she turned to exit her bedroom, leaving Arizona to wonder what she meant by that comment.

Callie walked down the hall in search of her daughter. "Soph…You're home early." Callie announced as she entered the living room where her daughter was doing her homework.

"No, Mom, I'm right on time. Remember today was a Teacher's Planning Day? We only had school until noon." Sophia looked at her mother with a big grin. "Why didn't you tell me you were going to have a visitor?"

Both of the raven haired women's attention was brought to the blonde that was walking down the hallway.

"Hi Sophia" Arizona said as she slowly entered the living room, wearing a t-shirt and a pair of shorts of Callie's that she had found in her dresser drawer. The blonde opted to sit on the arm chair that was opposite the couch that the brunette and her daughter were sitting on.

"Good Morning Arizona." The teenager said smugly. "What a pleasant surprise to see you here."

"Yeah...It was a bit of an unexpected trip." Arizona winked at Callie.

Callie grabbed her daughter's hand. She didn't know if she was ready for this yet. She was about to introduce her daughter to her partner. Not just any partner….she was about to introduce her to Arizona. If Callie had a choice she would give it more time but she had no other choice. This was the right time. "Sophia…." Callie began.

"Whoa... Whoa… Mom! You're not about to give me a talk about the birds and the bees are you?" Sophia let out a nervous laugh. "I mean, I know I walked in on you two….and I'm sorry for that…I really am. But we don't have to talk about it. Eww…No, Mom! Please. No!"

"No Soph, We've already talked about that. But we do need to talk about something else." Callie started as she got up from her seat and walked over closer to Arizona. "I just want to you know that I am seeing someone."

"Obviously…Mom!"

"Seriously, Sophia..." Callie voice had turned stern "What do you think about Arizona and I together…as a couple? Callie sat on the arm of the chair beside her partner, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

"It's about time!" Sophia laughed. "I mean…I was pretty surprised when my plan didn't work the first time I got Arizona to fly out here.

"What?" both of the older women said in unison.

"Your plan?" Callie asked.

"Yeah… It was impossible to not notice the looks you two were giving each other in Boston. You guys were like long lost loves or something. And I noticed Arizona's necklace…It's same as yours Mom. You know the heart one that is in your jewelry box." Sophia shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly. "It was obvious whatever you two once had wasn't over."

Callie and Arizona sat there at with their mouths agape, both totally impressed with the intuition of the teenager sitting in front of them.

"So are you guys going to take me to lunch today or what? We didn't have lunch at school and I'm super hungry." She teenager said.

"Well, that's that." Callie laughed at the audacity of her teenage daughter.

"You, know I should probably run by the hotel and get a shower and a change of clothes. I only have my clothes from dinner last night here." Arizona said as they all stood up from their seats. "Where should we meet for lunch?"

"Do you still like sushi? Callie asked. "Sophia and I have a favorite little place over in the Beacon Hill neighborhood."

"Yeah…sounds great!" Arizona answered.

"Mom, why don't I ride with Arizona to the hotel and wait while she gets ready that way I can just direct her to the restaurant." Sophia suggested. "And… we can also get to know each other a little more"

Callie looked at Arizona to gauge how she felt about that idea. Arizona nodded to show approval. "Alright, Mija. But be good!"

"Let me just go get my stuff." Arizona smiled as she headed toward the bedroom and started gathering her things.

"Are you going to be okay?" Callie nervously asked as she walked in the room after her.

Arizona turned to smile at the raven haired women and reached out to grab her hand. "Calliope…Why wouldn't I be okay?" she asked.

Callie wrapped her arms around Arizona and pulled her in close so that not a single part of their bodies weren't touching, "This is such a big step…You know, being alone with a teenager…My teenager. Are you sure that you're ready for this?"

"You bet I am! I'm excited! It's going to be super awesome!" Arizona cheered as she placed a kiss on Callie's lips. "I better get going…Don't want to keep the not-so-tiny human waiting."

….

Arizona wasn't willing to admit it but she was a bit nervous spending time with Sophia all by herself. What if she asks questions? But not only that, but how does one act around a teenager? 'Just stay calm' she thought to herself as she headed toward the car with the teenager in tow.

The two rode in the car in relatively silence for most of the trip. Arizona was starting to think she got lucky until…

"So…you and my mom, huh?" Sophia asked. The teenager sounded wise beyond her years.

Arizona blushed at that statement. "Yeah…me and your mom." She said. "How do you feel about that?"

"Will you promise to make her happy?"

"What?" Arizona wasn't quite expecting that question.

"I said…will you promise to make her happy?" Sophia repeated.

Arizona looked over at the teen and smile. "Oh yes. Sophia, I love your mother very much. I promise to do everything I can to make her happy." She thought of all the years she spent with Callie. Sure they had had their ups and downs, but happy didn't even begin to describe how Callie made her feel. And Arizona was determined to spend the rest of her life making her feel even an ounce of how she felt.

"Well…then that's all I need. Besides, I'm going to need someone to take care of her once I go off to school." Sophia smiled back at Arizona.

Once arriving at the hotel, Arizona took a quick shower and packed a small bag with some extra clothes just in case she ended up needing them later on. The two then promptly headed to the restaurant where they were to meet Callie.

After eating lunch at their favorite sushi place, Raw, they decided to head down to the Pike Place Market. It had been years since Arizona had got to visit and Saturday trips to the market was always one of her favorite things about living in Seattle. Callie and Arizona walked hand in hand as they travelled through the shops and local artist booths that the market had to offer, Sophia always a few steps ahead of them. They walked down to the waterfront to take in the breathtaking views that the city had to offer. After what seemed like hours the girls decided to head home.

After the wonderful day of sightseeing the older women were exhausted. They both we're laying down on Callie's bed to try to take a quick nap.

Sophia rushed down to her mother's room, this time making sure to knock before she entered. After she heard the approval from her mother she entered the room. "Mom, Can I go spend the night at Zola's tonight? We have a project for school that we need to work on."

"Did Meredith and Derek say it was okay?" Callie asked.

"Yeah…"

"Sophia?"

"Yes, Mom. Zola asked her parents. I was on the phone and heard her do it."

"Alright then…" Callie granted. "Come give me a kiss bye."

Sophia raced over to give me mother a kiss goodbye. Callie wrapped her arms around her daughter. "I love you, Mija. Have fun."

"I love you too, Mom." The teen said. She then turned to Arizona and gave her a hug. "I had fun today, Arizona."

"I did too, Sophia." Arizona smiled into the hug.

The women were left on their own. They immediately tangled their bodies together as if they were one. Callie laid there with her head on her pillow, about to drift off when she was suddenly brought out of her imminent slumber.

"Do you mind if I take a bath?" Arizona asked Callie "I've been travelling a lot these last few days and with all the walking today…I just want to relax a bit"

"Sure, no problem." Callie answered. "Do you need me to show you where everything is?"

"No, Sweetie. I can handle."

Arizona retreated toward Callie's bedroom, headed toward the master bathroom that was located within. She felt like a bit of a snooper as she searched through the room for simple necessities such as bubble bath and a towel. After finding everything that she needed, Arizona turned on the taps to fill the large bathtub. She found a set of matches in one of the cabinets and lit the few candles that her love had in the room. Once satisfied with the desired temperature of the water, Arizona dimmed the room's lighting, stripped off her clothes and climbed inside the tub. She leaned back and closed her eyes, relishing the feeling of the hot water cascading over her body. She was so lost in her thoughts, thinking of the moments so many years ago of herself and Callie and their bathroom rendezvous, she didn't hear when the door behind her had opened and someone snuck inside. Callie quickly rid herself of her clothes and climbed in the bath behind the beautiful blonde. When she was all the way in, she pulled Arizona back into her. Callie wrapped her arms around her love's chest and waist. Arizona matched the movement and wrapped her arms tight around the arms that held her tight.

Neither woman bothered to speak. They both just absorbed that moment, feeling the love that was emitting between them.

"I don't want to let you go back to Boston tomorrow…" Callie whispered into Arizona's ear.
