I gave an inward sigh as i heard Ino and Sakura's obnoxious voices chatter away while I was trying to teach their class. It had been four years since I had left the Sand Village and since then I had got a job as a teaching assistant at the Academy. A week before, I was made a jonin and this meant I would have to go on important missions so I only had a few more days of teaching at the academy. I had to had admit, it would be good not to have to deal my little cousin and her annoying blonde friend anymore.
"Sakura, Ino!" I shouted at the girls. "Must be a pretty important conversation if you decided to have it in my class. What is it this time? Sasuke liking blondes more?"
"Does he?" Ino squealed in delight.
I lowered me head and shook it in pity for her. "Oh Ino, you realize you're a stereotype, don't you?" I then looked at my cousin in disappointment. "But, Sakura, I've never heard of a dumb pinkette."
Sakura scowled at me and crossed her arms. "Hmph, I still don't understand why they made you a teacher," she sneered, "you look like you should be in school yourself. Plus, you act like you're so much better than me because of it."
"I don't act like I'm better than you, and maybe if you concentrated more instead of arguing with Ino, you might be at my level!"
"Oh please, It's not like I need to. i already know all this stuff!" Sakura declared proudly.
"Really? Well, we're recapping on the transformation jutsu right now. Could you give us a demonstration?"
"Certainly," She smiled, rising up from her seat and walking confidently to the front of the class.
"Transform into me," I instructed.
Without saying a word, Sakura transformed' leaving a cloud of smoke. When the smoke dispersed, I couldn't see another version of myself and a second later everybody started laughing. I could her Ino's painfully loud laugh most of all. I looked down and there was a small blue pig standing at my feet.
"I told you to transform into me, not Ino." I told her and the class laughed even louder. Well, all except for Ino who I could feel glaring daggers in my direction. "Alright, Sakura, you've had you're fun. Now, get back to your seat."
Sakura reverted back to her original form and scowled at me. "There you go again," she said, "acting like a grownup just because you're a jonin."
"Well, look at it this way. I'v'e acted like a grown up and achieved my goals. You're acting like a little kid, like you always do. How's that working out for you?" I could see my cousin's expression suddenly change. She had her fists balled up and she was quivering in anger. I knew at that point, I probably should have stopped, but my dislike of Sakura's attitude got the better of me "Tell me, Sakura, does he like you yet? Or is he still oblivious to your existence, little girl?"
I had done it. I had pushed Sakura over the edge. She lunged for me but I anticipated it and quickly sidestepped her. She stumbled forward, almost landing on the ground but stopping herself with her hands just in time. A second later, Iruka-Senpai walked into the with a tied up Naruto. "So you brought him back?" I asked.
My eyes darted to Sakura's as a signal to get back in her seat. Sakura stood up and walked to her desk and sat down. As much as Sakura had been getting on my nerves lately, I didn't want to get her in trouble for trying to hit a teacher. She was only a couple of days from graduation and I knew she was going to ace the exam. I couldn't ruin it for her.
"I caught him vandalising the Hokages' monument." Iruka responded.
"Naruto, did you acomplish anything other than making people mad at you?" I sighed. Naruto didn't answer. The lesson then went on as usual and when it finally ended, I went to meet my friend, Machi at the training grounds. She was trying to get into Anbu and I was happy to help her. Despite her being three years older than me, we got on really well. I didn't have a lot of friends in the Leaf Village so to have such a good friend like Machi was sheer luck.
"Hey Machi!" I yelled when I saw her. As I got closer I realized someone with her and that someone as Kabuto. I laughed inside, Machi had always had a crush on Kabuto and since they had begun dating almost a year ago, she had become slightly more girlish and hyperactive. It was a little bit annoying at times, but she was happy so I overlooked it. Personally, I didn't see anything extraordinary about Kabuto that Machi would be so in love with. He never really stood out or had any particularly interesting personality traits. To be honest, I didn't know the village had a genin as old as nineteen until Machi introduced me to Kabuto. In the end, he wasn't a bad guy, so I didn't really mind if he was going out with my best friend. "Kabuto and Machi, sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"
Machi laughed and Kabuto simply smiled. "Hey, Rei-Chan." She said.
"Are you here to train too, Kabuto?" I asked him.
"Yeah, the chunin exams are coming up in a couple weeks and I want to get some training in before then." He answered.
We then begun training and did so until it got dark. I realized I was getting tired so I told Kabuto and Machi that I was turning in for the night. I walked back to my Uncle and Aunt's house and they were there waiting for me when I got back, Sakura was too.
"Oh thank goodness," my aunt sighed in relief.
"Where were you? Mom and dad were worried sick!" Sakura cried angrily.
I guess that meant she wasn't worried.
"Sorry I'm late. I was training with Kabuto and Machi. But you don't have to worry about me, I'm a jonin now, remember?"
"That may be but Kabuto and Machi are practically adults now, whereas you're only fourteen. You don't get to stay out as late as they do." My aunt scolded me.
I sighed and bowed my head. "I'm really sorry, auntie. I won't do it again."
"It's fine, but get to bed. That goes for you too Sakura, you've got your graduation exam tomorrow."
"Yes, Mom" Sakura groaned and we both went upstairs to our bedrooms.
