Chapter 2
I thought about my encounter with Jace as I retrieved my bag from my locker. I can't believe myself, I was practically staring at him the whole class! It was probably nothing. I just got caught of guard by his looks. I was pulled out of my reverie before I left the building.
"Hey!" Simon said right in my ear while poking me on my side, causing me to give a squeal and jump.
"God, Simon you scared me!" I said, punching him playfully in the arm. I tried catching my breath and stop the pounding of my heart as we started walking together towards the door.
"Sorry," Simon said mumbled in between laughs. "let me see." He said, stopping to turn me and taking my wrist to check my pulse, which was racing away. He gave another laugh, I couldn't help but smile too. He flung his arm over my shoulder as we made our way to the parking lot.
Jace's POV
I put my stuff in my bag at my locker as I thought of the red-head. Over the ruckus of the other people I heard a squeal that I was certain I knew who came from. I turned and saw Clary, with a dorky looking boy with curly brown hair and glasses. Who was this? I watched them with curiosity- were they dating? I stared intently as the boy flung his arm over her shoulder. I felt slightly jealous- why was I jealous? I didn't know her. I don't feel jealous over girls, I get girls.
"Hey." I heard Jordan say from beside me, Sebastian on the other side of him. I mumbled a response as I shut my locker and flung my bag over my shoulder.
We walked in silence as I occasionally glanced in the direction that clary and that boy went. I watched as he opened the door for her and they drove off.
"Wow, first day and he noticed her." I heard Sebastian whisper.
"Excuse me?" I couldn't help but ask what he meant by that.
"Clary, the one who you were just staring at. You think she's hot, don't you?" Jordan answered.
"Everybody does..." Sebastian murmured to more to himself.
I looked at them confused, curious now "what do you mean?".
"Come on." Sebastian said giving me a 'are-you-kidding-me' look, "she's fine as hell! Any guy would be crazy not to want her." He said turning to look at the direction where the car she was in went with a dark look.
We finally walked across the parking lot to Sebastian's car, Jordan drifting to the left to the passenger side of the car.
"They all tried too." Jordan said, getting inside. I walked to open the backseat door of the white car behind the drivers seat.
Sebastian gave a small laugh, "yeah, instead of being with someone like me," he says gesturing to all of himself. "she choses that dork." He nods his head into the direction they went.
Jordan laughing at his comment, "been like that for three years now," he says shaking his head. "I went for it in middle school, even then, before they went out, she didn't even consider it."
"It could have been just you." Sebastian joked.
"Shut up" they laughed and joked. For a while longer this went on, but I was processing every word they said. Clary was with that man for three years? That would be at the beginning of high school. What did he mean by she wouldn't even consider it? Clary seemed like she was a one-man kind of girl. I smiled to myself at this thought; she won't be much longer.
Clary's POV
I walked in the door, keys in hand, as I just got back from my night with Simon. It had started raining half-way through the day, which was strange since it was summer officially, and now I was soaking wet—which didn't help since I was wearing shorts. I shut the door behind me and walked through the living room of the house. I made my way upstairs and as I passed by my mom's room I dipped my head in.
"Hey mom." I said, waving before continuing on to my room.
"Hey sweetie." She non-chalantly said before continuing reading her book on her bed. Dad wasn't their so he must have been at work.
After entering my room and dropping all my things off, I jumped in the shower to warm up from the cold rain. Walking into my bedroom refreshed in my pajamas and wet hair I layed down on my bed and pulled out my phone to check a message from Izzy.
I:Hey:P back from your date yet?
I quickly hit reply to text back my message.
C:just got back. Wats up?
I: checked the weather and it's raining 2moro. Where something pretty;)
I smiled at Izzy's ridiculousness. Whenever she said that it normally meant where a dress. Sighing I jumped back up to look in my closet. After looking at everything in my closet twice I picked out a long sleeved mini dress that reached mid-thigh and fit like a glove. It was made of a silky material that was a maroon color. I quickly grabbed some tights, black combat boots and a knitted black and white tribal print cardigan and layed the outfit aside, satisfied. I smiled at the thought of me in the outfit, I may just outdo Izzy this time. I liked the way we have these little fashion-show-offs, yet never seem to bring it up. I quickly combed and fixed my hair, which was now frizzy and dry, until it looked more smooth. I crawled in bed and quickly fell asleep after my hair was more tamed. I thought of the long day that we had before drifting into deep sleep.
I was in a empty room, all the walls were white and the floor was covered in a tan carpet. I quickly recognized the room as my geometry classroom.
I looked around the room, noticing the windows with the blinds covering. I circled around trying to find anything in the room but turned into something, which I quickly realized was someone's chest—Jace's in particular. I froze and looked up at him, he was looking down at me and smirking at how close we were. I was frozen and couldn't move. I was lost in his golden eyes. It felt like forever that we just stared at each other before a beeping sound went off.
I woke slowly, hitting my alarm clock in frustration. Sleeping for seven hours a night never seemed to be enough, not to mention how it felt like only a couple minutes. I layed their for several minutes before officially getting up. I checked the clock to see it was 6:15am, I groaned at the sight of it. School officially sucks ass.
I took the hour-and-a-half to get ready for school, before grabbing a quick snack and heading out the door. Taking a few steps out the door I saw Simon in his usual spot in are parking lot. I crawled into his car as we set out. not talking.
The sky's were grey and looked of rain as Izzy said. I sat there staring at the clouds lost in thought as I remembered the painting I did yesterday. I guess a new student was good inspiration...
"You look beautiful." Simon said averting his eyes from the road and looking at me. "Well, you always do." He added turning his head to make sure he was still going straight.
I just smiled and turned my head back to the window. I was used to his flattering words now; he's been giving them since I first met him. It used to make me blush when I found out that he liked me. Before though, I just thought he was being nice.
Once at school I grabbed my bag and exited the car and started walking to my first period class. As I walked down the hall looking down I was aware of eyes following me but quickly dismissed it when I seen Izzy.
She was just closing her locker and turning my direction when I got to her.
"Hey!" she said with a smile plastered on her face.
"Hi!" I quickly replied as I took in her appearance and she did the same for me. She wore a sleeveless white button up shirt that tucked in to a bright red pencil skirt. The skirt went to above her knees, which covered more than what she usually had on, She also had on open toed black heels and a black fitted cardigan that hung open and covered mainly her arms and back.
"Oh my god clary, you look hot!" She said taking in my appearance again.
"Is it just me or does it seem like we have this conversation a lot?" I asked jokingly. She smiled.
" Of course, we have the right, Its not easy looking this good all the time." She said as we turned to walk the rest of the way done the hall.
I shook my head at her pride and made my way across campus to my own class to begin my day out.
Sorry for the long wait, long, long wait, but basketball is a bitch.
