Chapter 2
After a couple of blocks of running Valerie slowed down to a walk. Looking over her shoulder to see if she was followed, nothing was there.
She filters though the earlier moment of the night. The tears, the yelling, the confusion, and all misdirected most likely. Frustrated she continues walking down the road and kicks a can out of her way
How could she? What was so amazing about a man in a bow tie? God, if Amy didn't step up and say something to Rory how would I break it to him?
She stops and adjusts the bag on her shoulder over it and open the bag, she had grabbed everything she thought she would need for a night in a motel; Toiletries, phone, wallet, phone charger, set of clothes, and her video camera. The video camera wasn't used for viral videos it was her video journal. After a month of being in Amy's care she began making a video journal for herself or anyone who knew and found her. So they knew how her life was how she had changed and what she found out about herself.
There wasn't any real life changing memos, possibly seeing her become less interested in finding who she was really was and become more confident and lively in the recent year. She would tell the camera about her day, working at the pub, planning the wedding with Amy, and her dreams. Of a hand holding hers, smiles
A rustling of leaves brings her back to reality. She grabed her phone out of her bag and check the time, it was 11:15pm.
Well I guess I better start moving before the clock strikes twelve and I'll turn into a pumpkin.
She put my phone back into her bag and started up a quick pace to town. The silence out here is unsettling and makes her suddenly feel as if she's being watched. She risks a glance around, no one is here but me.
Her feet start to move faster of there own accord and she's not complaining.
If someone's is out there watching my every move and I rather let them see me run than anything else.
She didn't stop running until she reached the motel.
When Valerie finally reached the motel she was gasping for breath. Running practically all the way here might have not been the best idea. She breathes heavily for a few minutes catching her breath.
I must really be out of shape, defiantly need to work on that.
She pulls out her phone again 11:31. Which gives me about half an hour till I go check on the pub.
I really don't want to go to work on my night off but I have to keep my word for the only two people who took me in for these two years to make them happy.
She steps into the motel entrance and checks in with the receptionist, Mrs. Putnam, she gives Valerie and odd look as if she's trying to put the puzzle pieces together. She hands Valerie the key her my room. Valerie readjusts her bag on her shoulder and walks into the hallway to her room resisting the urge to look over her shoulder to see if still trying to figure out why she's here the night before Amy's wedding.
When she reaches her door, she steps inside, and turn on the lights.
From the doorway there is a window with curtains covering it up on the opposite wall, a single bed to the left with a faded flowery designed comforter, and on the right a door way to a bathroom. She sighs and tosses the bag and key on the bed. She opens the bag and grabs her toiletries, phone(to keep track of time), and extra set of clothes and walks to the bathroom.
Putting everything on the countertop by the sink, she look ups at her reflection and see what's on the outside truly shows what she feel on the inside.
What I see is a weak girl with disheveled light brown hair going in every direction, red stains around her dark blue eyes, and her whole posture sags as if in defeat. Come on, you get can get through this.
She washes her face clearing the tear stains and pulls off her pajamas and trades them for a golden yellow t-shirt and dark blue jeans with a athletic black jacket. She gives herself once over, deciding that it's acceptable.
She's pulling out my hair brush and make up when an idea pops into her head. She walks out and grabs the video camera and turns it on and point it's towards the mirror to see where she's standing. She presses the 'recording' button and starts to brush her hair.
"Today started off well,"Her voice sounds scratchy she tries again,
"Today started off well helped Amy with double checking all the final details for the wedding, went through the dress rehearsal that was good at least, I did Amy was fretting over the details. Luckily, Rory was there to relax her a bit."
She's stopped mid brush wondering how to put the rest of the night into words. She finishes brushing her hair in silence. She trades the brush for foundation and starts putting it on and begins the other half of her day.
" We got home late had some quick dinner and got ready for bed, had a strange dream you know, can't remember the specifics but it didn't feel like a good one, I think it was going to become a nightmare but-"
She doesn't like avoiding what needs to be said, she's afraid to fracture the control she still has over my emotions.
She puts the foundation away and grabs the eyeliner and finishes off her story,
" I woke up, crying about it and heard a strange sound kinda like whooshing you know like the box? From my other dreams? Anyway, After the noise I heard voices across the hall and decided to listen in to see who it was. Turns out it was Amy."
She hesitates and then lets the words tumble out of her mouth,
"and another man was there and not Rory I think that I stumbled on to an affair."
Valerie sighs, exasperated and try to slow down the rest of the story.
"I'm going to Rory's stag party to tell him what happened. I gave Amy a deadline to tell him, not sure if she actually will though."
Valerie stares into the mirror to where it looks like she's staring into the camera,
"What ever happens I want you to understand Amy, Rory, whoever is watching I want you to know I'm sorry it wasn't my place to say or do anything it was wrong of me to take your relationship Amy I hope you can forgive me. "
Realizing that it was wrong for her to step in and control someone else's life. She's going to fix this. Looking at her phone still sitting on the counter top she checks the time, 11:51pm
Crap! I'm gonna be late!
Shoving her phone into my pocket she turns the camera off and start rushing out of the bathroom. In her haste she tosses the camera towards the bed and hears a 'Clunk' and 'thump' off by the bed.
Valerie freezes and turn towards the noise and see her camera- "No!" she shrieks.
The camera is only thing that has all her videos of the past month and is now on the floor looking mangled as if someone had ripped off its side view and cracked its lens. Quickly grabbing the camera and shoving it into her other coat pocket. She snatches the room key and heads for the door all in a quick motion.
She opens the door with a bang and slams it shut, and runs. Dashing through the hallway and passing the receptionist desk without a second glance and out and in the street. She stops for a second looking both ways and then, off again racing down the road hoping that a few blocks of running won't tire her. She feels her face getting warm as she's racing down the streets, Valeries lungs feel like there not getting enough air, and her legs moving in a rhythmic pattern.
She sees the pub and practically shouts for the rest of the way trying to get there as soon as can, but stumble a few steps before reaching my destination and what I see makes her stomach twist her nauseous.
There right in front of the pub is him, the man who started this whole problem. It was the Doctor and he looked absolutely ecstatic.
So yeah hope you liked it.
