Chapter 4

A new thing Valerie learned, is that three days away from the world can make it seem that your worries can just melt away.

Personally, she's still stressed about the wedding but, it's some-odd years in the past anyway and she's bit tipsy in the streets of what she thinks is London, which is filled with bright neon signs, humans, and grimy and she can't seem to find a way back the delightful doors.

3 Days Earlier...

She was on her way back to the hotel, planning to escape this chaos of a town, for life. She realized earlier tonight that she wasn't supposed to be here; meant to be elsewhere, specifically avoid those who knew her. That meant not going to see her friends wedding, or her friends ever again. It broke her heart, really it did but, when the world had shifted the perspective of her life it had made her realize that the small town and small home she was creating with her friends marriage, wasn't what she was meant to do.

She wasn't sure what to do, maybe go to do a different country, sounded pretty good, nothing devastating happens outside of England besides the weather.

She stuffed in her hand in the pocket with the watch. Holding the watch in her pocket she felt as if she was complete. She had always felt a sense of disconnection with the world and she had assumed that it was the memory loss that created the gap. It hadn't occurred before, that the watch would be the key she had a sneaking suspicion is had to do with the Doctor and his travels.

A sharp pain erupted through her head from the watch, acting like a defense mechanism against the man. She was concerned for her choice now, she had left her friends with a man who had blood on his hands which her other "half" obviously hated. Why did she do it?

The watch began to emit a soft hum.

Walking couple of steps forward she had noticed that the humming got louder, trying to lead her somewhere. Quickly, she set ahead following the humming making sure she always walked where the humming became louder. It soon became it the point where the humming became buzz and the watch vibrating in her pocket.

Funny thing was, she was in the alley next to the antique shop across from the pub. Looking around the only thing she was the sky blue French doors that had always leaned on shops wall, usually with both doors closed.

Now looking at the doors, one of them was opened out ward, blocking the view of what was behind it.

She had passed these doors daily to work and home and they didn't mean anything to her. Standing there she couldn't help but be curious to what the doors were hiding. When she got closer to the doors the pocket watch in her pocket seemed to scream with urgency and excitement, begging to closer the door.

Stepping right in front of the entrance she wasn't sure as what to expect; a homeless man, Steve the alcoholic, or nothing at all. What she least expected though was a dark space in front of her.

She shuffled a little closer unsure of what might pop out, and with an reassuring wave of comfort from her pocket she walked inside.

She took a few steps in for her to stand and she held hand to cover her face when lights flickered on in the space. When her vision cleared, the expanse of the space rendered her speechless.

In front of her was a spacious room with no ceiling or floor, only four black glass walkways (including the one she was standing on) connecting to their own door ways and to a central platform with a column of clear glass disappearing with the ceiling hanging in mid-air. Valerie frowned a bit confused and turned her back to the room and began to retreat to the street when door slammed in her face.

She stumbled backward and fell on her rear, worried she got back up and moved quickly to the door, and reached the door handle and began to try and open the door any way she could, pushing, pulling, and jiggling the door handle seemed to have no effect. She began to bang and kick on the door, yelling hoping someone would hear her and get her out there.

After awhile, she turned towards the center of the room and slid down the door to sit on the floor.

Exhausted and angry at her progress she brought out her watch and grumbled, "rubbish you are" as she chucked it on the walkway watching it slide across the glossy surface. Realizing a little to late that it would fall into the black hole. Still she lunged for it to see if she could save it and missed it. She sat in the horrible silence waiting to hear the smash of a watch and instead hear a 'pop' by the center of the room.

Getting back up she walked to the central platform and she noticed slanted panels surrounding the column of clear glass had a central column that was also glass. What interested her most was her watch sitting on one of the panels.

Grabbing the trinket she brushed against on of the panels, the machine started to whir ands make a sort of repetitive noises making her step back.

The clear central column began to have wispy smoke swirls around creating hypnotizing patterns, panels began to light up with circular designs and blink with different colors. With a great shudder the place began shake about making her grip one of the panels.

When the shaking stopped she tumbled to the floor, breathing heavily. The doors once locked, unlocked and opened themselves, seeing no other option she walked out the doors. She stepped out and was surprised to see she was by the side of a different building that was in contrast to the rest of the streets around with their bright colors, and with her 'special' sense of direction began to wander leaving the doors behind her and find out where she was and what happened.

Present Day

'hey the pretty doors!'

Valerie stumbled to the doors, giggling drunkenly as she tried to open doors with holding the watch in front of the doors with her index finger on the latch expecting the doors to open. She was grabbed from behind suddenly making her squeeze her hand and open the latch to the watch. After the latch unlocking, golden light burst from it scaring the attackers who pushed her into her 'magic' doors.

While tumbling backwards in the room, her head began to clear and then it began to burn.

'oh god it burns…

OH GOD IT BURNS'

Still backwards she tried to sit down and curl up into a smaller position but instead she lost her balance and fell into the abyss.

'WHY dOsE iT BuRn?!'

Falling, screaming

'Oh yes...it burns'

'Falling into the black was endless and she was let out of her cage.'

and Valerie Chalina was dissappering from exsitence and she tried to make the best of it

So she took pleasure in the pain.
