Chapter 7

Fahrenheit

A whole three weeks had passed since Roxas's first day at destiny high and his and Sora's first... Moment together. They had only became closer since, plus a tad more sexual, not to mention experimental with each other.

While Sora, Riku, Kiri, and Axel enjoyed their free time together, Roxas had been working himself to the bone. After his mother's death, Roxas had been out of school for an extended period of time. Due to this, he was backed up on work. Desperate to catch up, Roxas kept to his studies, Sora stopping by to help. It had gotten to the point that he was sleep deprived. He'd even been skipping meals.

It was saturday, about three in the afternoon. Roxas hadn't gotten out of bed once. He'd been left undisturbed. Cuddling himself under the covers, he hermited himself in their warmth. His breathing was heavy and his lips dry with thirst. Roxas had been drifting in and out of sleep all day, but remained motionless all the same. It was then that Cloud entered the room, wordless. He sat next to Roxas on his bed side. "Not feeling to well," he asked, not expecting a response.

Sick as he was, Roxas would die before Cloud said even one sarcastic remark without a retort. "Shut the hell up," he mumbled.

Cloud only smiled. 'At least he has his spark,' Cloud thought. "I'm going to take your temperature. Wait here while I get the thermometer and call Sora."

"What do you need to call Sora for," Roxas asked, phlegm invading his speech.

Cloud cracked a small smile. "You'll see."

Roxas merely brushed it off, allowing his eyes to shut yet again.

As Cloud left the room, he grabbed the home phone. There was no way he'd let Sora get a hold of his cell number. God only knows what he'd send him. Knowing Sora it would probably be odd pictures of cats and puppies. Nonetheless, he dialed the Fair house.

After only three rings, he was greeted with the voice of Aerith. "Hellll-lllo?"

"Aerith? It's Cloud. Is Sora there?"

"Yes. Just hold on a second." She yelled up to Sora's bedroom. "SORA! PHONE!"

Before Cloud could say 'mako,' Sora had made his way downstairs and taken the phone from his mother. "What's up?"

"Roxas is sick. Get over here. Now." Cloud hung up without another word leaving Sora to, almost immediately, get ready and out the door.

Cloud then went through the living room and down the hall and into the bathroom. Opening the medicine cabinet, he scanned it for the thermometer and the vaseline. THIS was the reason he needed Sora. Afterwords Sora would most likely take control so Cloud'd be able to get back to work on the Fenrir. He still needed to fix up a few things.

As he made his way back into the living room, he heard frantic knocking at the door. 'Sora.' Cloud simply called out "it's open!" With that, Sora came rushing in, frantic. Talking at a mile a minute. "CLOUDYOUTELLMERIGHTNOWWHATSWRONGWITHMYROXASBECAUSESOHELPMEGODIFYOUBROUGHTBACKSOMEFREAKFORIGNDESIESEFRKMTHELANDOFDRAGONSORSOMESHITILLRILYOUANEWANUSYOUDIRTYLITTLESONOFA-" Before Sora could continue, Cloud grabbed his shoulder, kept him still, then brought a heavy hand across his face.

"I always have myself evaluated after a trip to another land. Now, what I called you for is... This." He handed Sora the thermometer.

Still rubbing his cheek with one hand, he took the thermometer in the other. "Couldn't take his temperature yourself?"

Cloud sighed. "Oh how I wish you weren't so dense. It's a rectal thermometer. I'm his brother, not his lover. I leave that area of him to you."

A blush found its way across Sora's face as Cloud's words did his ears. "W- what makes you think we do that type of stuff?"

Cloud only gave a 'tch.' He found it amusing that Sora truly thought nobody knew. "I can hear a pin drop nonetheless my loud, moaning, little brother. You're not very gentle with him are you?"

Sora's jaw dropped. Had Cloud seriously just said that? His face resembled that of a plumb red cherry rather then that of human flesh.

Cloud couldn't help but laugh at Sora's state of surprise. "Just go in there and be a man." With that Cloud pushed Sora into the room and walked away, leaving Sora and the now unconscious Roxas with their privacy.

After composing himself, Sora went to Roxas' bedside and shook him gently. "Roxas? Wake up. Come on, silly."

Roxas' eyes slowly blinked open. "Sora?" He said so meekly, a mixture of exhaustion and phlegm in his voice.

Sora gave a gentle smile. "Hey, Rox. I know your trying to relax but I have to take your temperature, ok?"

Roxas only nodded and opened his mouth.

Sora's sweat dropped. "It's a uh... Well it's rectal."

Roxas gave a groan of displeasure, as a child would when told 'no' by their parents.

"I know, but it has to be done."

Roxas nodded yet again and gave a a weak "ok" as Sora positioned himself at Roxas's legs.

He couldn't help but smile. Roxas was just to cute. Like a little defenseless child trapped in a teen's body. He pushed the blanket up to Roxas' knees causing him to shiver noticeably. "Sorry," Sora said as he continued on.

Roxas was wearing the same outfit he had the day before. A grey tee-shirt with an unbuttoned red flannel over it along with his grey jeans. He must had been exhausted, not even bothering to change. Roxas always stripped down to his boxers before bed.

Noticing this, Sora went to the dresser just right of Roxas' bed/futon and retrieved a pair of pajama pants. ((AN: as explained in the earlier chapters, Roxas has no bed. Instead he has a futon that reclines into a bed like one of those chairs with the foot rest.)) He then unbuttoned Roxas's jeans and pulled them, along with his boxers down. He usually would have enjoyed this situation, him stripping Roxas down to absolutely nothing, having completely submitted to Sora. But the last thing Sora could do was get off on Roxas's pain. He'd kill himself before he did. He opened the jar of vaseline and stuck the tip of the thermometer into the substance. Sora then looked to Roxas. "Ready," he asked softly.

Roxas only nodded, void of all things but exhaustion.

Sora then probed him with the device, pressing the button at the base once it was fully inserted, then allowing it to simply sit inside him.

Roxas let out a small gasp when he felt the cold of the vaseline touch enter him.

"I know its cold Roxas... Just bear with me. It'll be over soon." Sora waited till he heard the "beeb" of the thermometer, then slid it out of his lover, examining the results. He let out a sigh of relief. "Good... No fever... Must just be fatigue. In that case I want you to get some sleep, Roxas."

"But I have to fin-"

"No you don't. Not all at once, anyway. You're taking off this week and that's final!"

Roxas only sighed. He knew it would be useless to argue with him. Besides, he lacked the proper strength. And one required a great deal to argue with a worries Sora. Roxas simply nodded in response.

Sora pulled the pajama pants onto Roxas then lifted up the covers and settled under them. "It's not like your contagious or anything," he said as he wrapped his arms around the blond. "So i'm gonna stay with you until your better."

Roxas gave a radiant smile. "Thanks, Sora." He cuddled up to him, slowly drifting back to sleep.

Sora was no better. He felt at peace with Roxas next to him. He allowed his eyes to shut and, before he knew it, found himself in the land of dreams. The two slept softly.

Cloud made sure Roxas's Grandmother wouldn't disturb them, claiming Roxas needed his sleep, failing to mention the boy in there next to him. Cloud wound up sleeping in the couch in the living room.

~The next mourning

Roxas slowly blinked his eyes open, delighted to see the brunette next to him. He inhaled his scent, that sweet chocolate scent. But he got a whiff of something else as well. Smoke. ((A.N.: as previously stated, these writing are based off true events. I swear the only injury was a small (large) burn on my arm from putting out the fire.)) Roxas got up and went into the kitchen to investigate. To his surprise he found a gas powered stove nearly engulfed in flames. He ran back to his room and furiously shook Sora awake. "Fire," he yelled as he pulled him out of the bed. Roxas hurried into the hallway leading to his grandmother's room, ripped open the hallway closet and get a bucket filled with tools. He dumbed them out and placed it on the ground, making his way into the bathroom.

Sora had gone after him. He grabbed the bucket and hurried back to the kitchen, filling it with water and throwing it over the fire.

Roxas had taken the towel hanging on the rack and drenched it in water from the shower. Running back into the kitchen, he began to pat out the flames. They had to hurry before it spread. Roxas kept in the back of his mind that this was a gas stove, one that could easily blow.

The two boys heard the door open, the crinkling of grocery bags, and the surprised voice of Cloud as he gasped at the sight.

Roxas turned just for a second to look, only to feel a sharp pain up his right arm. He had been burnt.

Cloud dropped the groceries and ran outside, returning with a hose & nozzle. "Move back," he ordered the two. Once they complied, he pulled the trigger, a jet of water spraying the place down.

Sora, after dumbing more water on the flames, opened the stove door for Cloud to spray in.

Once out, the three let out a sigh of relief. "Go turn off the gas," Roxas ordered cloud.

After he did so he ruffled Roxas's now wet hair. "You'd do good in S.O.L.D.I.E.R., you know that?"

Roxas laughed. "We put out a fire, and thats all you can say?"

"I'm not kidding. You did good."

"Thanks, Cloud. But i'll leave the whole mercenary, ex military thing to you and Zack." The three simply laughed as Roxas grabbed his phone. "So we obviously aren't cooking... Who wants to order something?"

AN:

Sorry it took so long to get this up... Been pretty busy as if late. Things have begun to cool down so updates should come back to normal. For those of you curious, my brother Denis (cloud) was going to make me and James (roxas) french toast like my mom used to... He completely fucked up and left it unattended to go get some eggs from the grocery store...
