It had been a few hours since I had left Klaus in the house with the task I had left him with.
As soon as I left the house I went straight to the Salvatore boarding house. I found the most recent scent of one of the Salvatore brothers before I started to follow the trail through town.
While following the trail of the Salvatore - which I found out later that it was Stefan – I had incidentally yet conveniently passed by one Ms. Elena Gilbert. She was on the phone with none other than Stefan Salvatore while she was eyeing my Uncle Finn from across the town square, who was happily talking with a red headed woman.
For a few seconds I was excited and happy that Uncle Finn was back in town and happy that Klaus had gotten part of the plan down. That happiness died when I heard what Elena and Stefan were talking about on the phone.
"-x girlfriend or something," Elena spoke into her phone.
"Ex-girlfriend? The guy has been in a coffin for the past 900 years." Stefan said from the other end, "Sage. It's got to be Sage."
The red head is Sage? Well that would explain why Uncle Finn looked happy to be here for once. I smiled at the thought.
"We have an opportunity, so how do we do this?" Elena asked, excitedly.
"Listen to me Elena, do not do anything, Sage is very old and very strong. You don't stand a chance against her," he warned her.
"Then get Damon and get down here," She demanded him.
"What the hell happened to you?" I heard him ask someone in the background and he answered her after a few moments, "Listen I have to go, we have a problem. Bye." He hung up on Elena abruptly.
I wanted to roar in anger by the time she hung up but I refrained from doing so. Instead, I stopped in front of a store, pretending to admire a dress while I listened in on what she was doing.
They'll pay severely for trying to go after my family, I thought darkly.
I discretely followed Elena, waiting for the opportune moment to get her alone without anyone noticing.
When the chance finally came, I sped up to her and quickly pulled her into an alleyway. I quickly covered her mouth when she opened it to scream.
Her eyes widened in fear when she saw who was holding her down, before the look quickly became guarded. I assume that the change was to hide what she was feeling from me, although I could still see it in her eyes.
"Hello Elena, long time no see. Why is it that my best friend is ignoring me? I thought we were close." I taunted her with the words she tried to use on me when we first met, making my tone sad towards the end.
Elena glared at me but otherwise doesn't try to say anything because of the hand that was still covering her mouth.
I removed my hand from her mouth slowly before whispering in her ear, "Scream or call for help then you will be wishing for death when I am through with you."
"Who are you?" It was the first thing out of the doppelgänger's mouth.
I sighed in irritation as I walked around her, "It's always the same questions; 'Who are you? What do you want? What are you?' Can't you humans come up with better questions to ask?" I took a small step closer to her as I said each question, bringing me closer to my target with every step.
Elena's breath hitched in her throat at the end of my little rant but she didn't answer, she just stood there.
I took a deep breath as I brought myself to a stop behind her.
I tilted my head as I inspected the human doppelgänger in front of me. I walked up behind her, only stopping when her backside brushed up against my front.
"You know you shouldn't be alone after what you tried to pull with the Mikaelson family. Mikaelsons don't take well to threats… of any kind." I said into her ear.
I could practically feel the anger and fear building up inside of her before she finally snapped and finally answered me.
"They deserve it with what they have done to my friends and Aunt Jenna," she sputtered in anger.
"But weren't you trying to kill Klaus even before you met him? Had a whole plan set and everything was going right when one thing went wrong?" I murmured, grabbing a piece of her hair and sniffing it. I smirked when I got a good whiff of her scent.
"Mmmm," I hummed as I started sniffing her neck, specifically her main artery there. The move interrupted her before she could get started.
"I'm curious as to why your little boy toys haven't made you drink vervain and only made you wear this," I said thoughtfully before I moved back to my spot in front of her.
But I'm not going to wait for an answer.
I quickly grabbed the necklace on her neck, holding the vervain in my hand, and yanked it off of her neck. My hand sizzled slightly as I held the necklace until I placed it into my pocket for the time being.
"Now that we don't have that pesky vervain necklace in the way, let's get to the real fun," I smirked, only for it to get bigger when she gasped as her hand flew to her neck for her necklace only to come up empty handed.
I looked deeply into her eyes and compelled her, "Keep quiet and don't move a muscle."
As soon as I saw the effects of the compulsion take hold of her, I sped forward and latched onto the artery in her neck and I drank her blood until I heard her heartbeat slow down.
I pulled away, licking the little blood that escaped, before I placed my wrist to my mouth. I tore into the skin then pushed my bloody wrist to her mouth, silently forcing her to drink it.
"Relax and drink," I compelled her when she started to resist.
She went lax in my hold and suckled on my wrist. She continued to drink my blood until I knew it was going to stay in her system for a week or so before I pulled my wrist away. Then I continued to compel her.
"As soon as I leave I want you to forget that you ever saw or heard of me today. You'll continue on with what you were doing before you saw me here today," I muttered and waited until she repeated what I had said. Once she repeated my orders back to me, I let go of her shoulders and took a step back.
"Now onto the last piece of business," I declared as I reached into my back pocket and pulled out a medium sized vial that contained lighter fuel.
"You see this?" I queried while holding the vial in front of her face to make sure that she saw it. Once she nodded that she noticed the vial, I continued, "I want you to hold this to your person wherever you go, do you understand me?" I demanded.
"I will hold it on my person everywhere I go," she repeated robotically, confirming that she was still under my control.
"Here you go," I handed the vial over to her before I gave her necklace back, "Good, goodbye Elena. I'll see you around," I waited until she put her necklace back on and hid the vial away in her own pocket before I sped away.
It was time to get back to searching for the Salvatore brother again.
I wanted to throw something by the time I finally got to the source of the scent. The scent belonged to Stefan Salvatore and he ended up going back to the Salvatore boarding house soon after I left it. I traced his scene throughout town for nothing.
At least something went right when I followed his scent. Thinking about how I left Elena in the alleyway had me in a good mood for a moment. Remembering the fear in her eyes before they went blank as I compelled her, the taste of her blood, and to have her walking around town with no memory of the encounter. It had me feeling smug like a bug.
I groaned softly when after a few minutes of being there I heard Stefan walking out the door, throwing over his shoulder to Alaric a quick "Going to the Grill."
What is so special about the Grill that has everyone going there?
I followed him while staying just outside of his sight and hearing range, until Stefan walked through the door of the Grill. I waited outside before I walked in with a group of teenagers; I didn't want my solo trip to draw attention to myself.
I snarled under my breath when I saw Uncle Finn and Sage in a booth while the doppelgänger, the commoner, and Stefan were eying them from various spots within the Grill. I quickly found a seat in the corner of the room which gave me a good view of the whole place.
I growled in slight fear and nervousness when I check the time on my phone.
I prayed to the spirits that Klaus was able to get Bonnie to break the spell in time.
I'm running out of time.
An hour and a half later and it was completely dark outside. I went outside in hopes that the cold from outside would calm my nerves and clear my head from my panic.
I was starting to relax when I heard Uncle Finn choking.
"Finn! What's wrong!? Finn?" I heard Sage's panicked voice from inside.
"Vervain," Uncle Finn croaked out.
There was a short pause in which I pushed off the wall and started to head inside before I heard the whispered, "Outside" followed by the sound of them retreating somewhere farther into the Grill.
I had just stepped inside in hopes of finding any sign of Uncle Finn or Sage when I felt my phone start to vibrate in my pocket.
I dug into my pocket for the phone before I pressed to accept the call.
"Hello?"
"It's done," Klaus's voice informed me from the other end.
I sighed in relief, "Thank you Klaus," I uttered before I hung up.
I went looking for them in the bar when I heard something shout "Finn, the stake" from outside the Grill.
"Are you kidding me? I just came from outside," I groaned as I ran outside at full speed.
However my speed wasn't fast enough.
"NO!" Sage and I screamed simultaneously as I arrived in time to see Uncle Finn slump down with a White Oak stake in his heart.
Sage ran over to him while I turned around to see my uncle's murderer.
I snarled when I saw the doppelgänger with an empty crossbow in her hands. She backed away from the scene with the commoner in tow.
"I have had it with you and every other doppelgänger I have ever had an unfortunate chance of meeting!" I screamed in rage before I pulled out a lighter from my back pocket.
"I was thinking about going about this a little nicer but since you seem like any other doppelgänger before you and won't seem to stop until you are on top, that isn't going to happen," I voiced out to her, flicking on the lighter, showing it to her.
I can see the confusion in her eyes right before I throw the lighter to where I know the lighter fuel is at, "I'll see you later Elena," I crooned when she started to scream and the flames engulf her like it was doing to Uncle Finn.
I turn around to see Sage sobbing close to the burning body of Uncle Finn.
"Let's put him out and take him to the Mikaelson Mansion for the siblings," I sighed sadly before I looked around for something to put the fire out.
Elena was going to get what was coming for her and anyone else that tried to go against my family. I thought after I got home and placed Uncle Finn in a coffin in his room later on that night.
I hope you are doing better on the other side Uncle Finn.
