She rocked back and forth, crying. But that wasn't what shocked them...
Shirru had scarlet eyes.
Kurapika's P.O.V.
I stared at Shirru in shock as she hyperventalated. "Scarlet eyes...' I muttered, speechless.
For all these years, I believed that I was the last Kuruta alive. But today, I was proven wrong. I thought I was the only one who cried in dispair when I saw my parents dead, the whole village bloody and burning, cursing the Phantom Troupe, screaming at the sky. But yet again, I was proven wrong.
Was it fate that brought me to meet Shirru, another survivor of the kuruta massacre?
Fate was so unpredictable. It certainly was unpredictable because it proved my beliefs wrong. It completely turned the tables.
Maybe, just maybe, she will help me with my revenge.
Killua's P.O.V.
As Kurapika was in deep thought, I examined Shirru's eyes that suddenly turned scarlet... Just like Kurapika's in the fight against that blue thing. They seemed to sparkle somewhat or maybe just a shine. Whatever.
Her eyes held fear, anger, and panic, the red emphasizing the emotions well. The emotions that I often see whenever I kill the bodyguards of my target. The emotions that I thought I would never see on this girl.
It shocked me.
Kurapika's P.O.V.
I snapped out of my thoughts and saw Gon and Hiro trying to calm the girl and succeeding.
I once again drowned myself in my thoughts.
It's pretty weird if Shirru does have scarlet eyes. Kurutas have blue or brown eyes, but as far as I know, Shirru has green eyes. Green is similar to blue, but I've never seen a kuruta with green eyes.
But there is a possibility that Shirru is part kuruta. That would explain her ability to turn her eyes to scarlet even though she shouldn't be able to. Her eye color did seem a bit duller than scarlet after all. So the possibility of her not being a full blood is fairly high...
Ugh, snap out of it!
I turned my attention back to the scene. Shirru's eyes were no longer scarlet and they returned to their green color. I opened my mouth to ask Shirru some questions. Hopefully, she would answer this time, not Hiro.
"Shirru, are you a kuruta?"
Shirru looked alarmed and looked around. But when she figured out that it was me who asked the question, she calmed slightly, sighing in relief.
I raised an eyebrow. Why would she sigh in relief?
"Partially. I'm only a third kuruta. Why did you ask?" She replied.
"I'm a kuruta as well," I said. She just nodded weakly and had an unstable smile on her face.
She whispered to Hiro, but I couldn't quite hear it. I saw Hiro nod with a gentle smile and he helped her get off of the couch. Shirru stables herself as she stood and headed in my direction.
"So, what's going to happen now?" Shirru whispered as she carefully sat next to me. She winced as her fingers touched the ground.
"What do you mean?" I questioned, not connecting to what she was asking about.
"You guys know that I'm a Kuruta now. So, what's gonna happen now that you guys know?" She replied quietly.
"That doesn't matter. What does matter is..." I took a deep breath.
"Were you there the day our clan was murdered?" I asked, watching her movements.
"Yeah, but my father told me to run if he didn't come back. I heard things, but I never did see anything. I left then returned after a few days. All I saw were their dead bodies... the blood... and then," Shirru stopped, then continued reclucantly, a pained look in her eyes. "Then... their missing eyes..."
I clenched my fists and willed my eyes to not change colors. I inhaled deeply then started, "Same thing as me."
"Your plan is to get revenge on the Phantom Troupe, correct?" Shirru inquired. I nodded solemnly. "Yes. That is my reason to become a hunter."
"They are class-A bounties. Close to class-S. It will be difficult to catch them," Shirru warned. I blinked slowly.
"So you don't want revenge?" I asked, suprised.
"I do. But it requires great determination and hatred for the Phantom Troupe. I do not have enough determination for something many great people are after, I only have the immense hatred. I have a different goal, one that might last forever," Shirru replied.
"What would that goal be?" I asked.
"Finding my last relative," She replied, vaguely.
"Didn't all of them die?"
"No, I have one last relative. My brother. He is my reason for becoming a hunter," She said.
I thought about what she said for a moment. Then it clicked.
I gasped, "There's another Kuruta?!"
Shirru smiled, most likely from the memory of her missing brother. "Yeah," she whispered.
"So your purpose to become a hunter is similar to Gon's," I observed.
"Yes, my reason is fairly similar to Gon's. It involves a chase, finding clues, and training. There's going to be a big journey ahead for me," I explained.
"So you aren't going to stay with us?" I asked.
"Everybody has their own agenda. Plus, even if I did, we all would get separated sooner or later. You want revenge, Leorio wants to be a doctor, Gon is going to look for his dad, and I think that Killua will just go along with Gon. I mean, just look at them," she smiled at the end, watching as the two boys wrestled on the ground.
I chuckled in agreement.
"But even so, you can still stay with us. It'll add more exitement to your journey. Especially with those two boys," I pointed out.
Shirru nodded. "I would, but it wouldn't be that good. Killua doesn't like me after all."
"And, he would soon hate me once this exam was over. All of you will," Shirru stated, sure of herself.
"What...?" I questioned, utterly confused.
"Oh nothing, nothing you need to know," Shirru quickly realized what she said and changed the subject.
"Wait, what? Don't change the subject!" I commanded.
Shirru froze. The whole room froze.
I quickly realized the situation.
'Oh gosh... I can't just tell them to ignore what I just said. What do I do?'
