Disclaimer: I do not own Twilight. Nope, sure don't.
AN: Don't get scared, this isn't the last chapter but it is winding down. There will probably be only three more chapters.
As the summer drew to a close and the last week of camp wound down the counselors found themselves faced with mixed feelings. They were glad that the season was coming to a close but they were saddened by the prospect of saying goodbye to everyone. The campers were antsy and were acting out more than normal to make the most of the last couple days of parental freedom. The counselors would stay a couple of extra days to help close the camp and ready it for next season.
Bella was quieter than normal and more introverted than Jacob or Embry had ever seen her. They were both in charge of the end of the year games along with Emmett and Sam and it was all the campers had been talking about for over a week. Jacob picked up on Bella's mood swing and knew exactly what was bothering her. He would handle it without fifty sets of eyes on him. With everyone readying for the last day of camp it was hard to find time alone.
Bella was not the only one who was in her own little world. Bree had problems of her own to worry about. Seth may not want to talk about the side effects of the three hundred mile distance between them but she couldn't help but be fearful. It wasn't that Seth didn't want to face it but Bree could see that he had his own reservations about the distance that was about to be put between them. They were only fifteen and way too young to be in a serious relationship.
"Bree?" Bella asked the night before the last day of camp.
"Yeah?" she asked distractedly.
"Is something wrong?"
"I'm just wondering if there's anything I've forgotten to pack," she lied.
"I'm worried too," Bella admitted.
Bree's eyes lifted to meet Bella's in question. Bella nodded, confirming her fears.
"Do you think Seth and I are too young to be in a serious relationship?"
"I was less than a year older than you when I started dating Riley and we were together for almost a year. Not everyone matures at the same time. Do you think you're ready for a serious relationship?"
Bree shook her head slowly, tears stinging her eyes. She liked Seth and knew that he liked her too but she didn't think that they were mature enough to handle not seeing each other for a year. She would always wonder if he was with other girls and vice versa. Neither of them needed that kind of pressure.
"Than you need to be honest with him. I'm pretty sure that he would rather stay your friend than put you through a lot of heartache and misery. You'll feel better after you talk to him."
"Do you think you and Jake will make it?"
"That's what I'm hoping for. We've been friends since I was four and he was two; that has to count for something."
"You guys will, it's obvi that he loves you," she said rolling her eyes.
Bree could tell that Jacob loved her? They hadn't talked about their feelings yet. They had been living moment to moment and she was too scared to vocalize her feelings. She hoped that her actions said what she was too terrified to put into words.

Bella stood at the top of the hill that led down to the field that was used for every sport related activity that the camp offered. It was now sectioned off into four different playing areas. One area was for throwing footballs through a tire, next to it Paul and Jared were setting up cones for a soccer obstacle course. Next was an archery section with a bullseye at one end and a marker set sixty years away, lastly was a baseball station where people would work in groups of two tossing and catching from different markers.
The parents would arrive late that afternoon and stay for dinner which was being set up in the pavilion down near the beach. She was in charge of cooking for nearly two hundred people and Sue, Rosalie, Angela and Edward had offered to help her. They were keeping things simple and only having hot dogs and hamburgers along with potato salad and Sue had ordered the largest cake that Bella had ever seen. It was hard to believe that the summer was almost over. In less than two weeks she would be leaving for college and she and Jacob needed to define their relationship before she left.
She was more worried about Bree more than she was about herself. First relationships were tricky and hard to get over. She was just glad that Bree and Seth hadn't taken things very far. She hoped that they remained friends and prayed that the next year brought growth and change for the both of them so that they could pick up where they left off next year.
The kids descended on the field making as much noise as possible. Alice and Jasper would have their hands full manning the water station since the kids tended to crowd it in packs of ten at a time usually; that would be even worse now that all of the campers were on the field at once.
Bella needed to get down to the beach to set up the grill so that it could be ready when Sue needed it. Rosalie and Edward had cleared the debris from the last storm from the area and secured checkered table cloths to the three long rows of tables. There wasn't much that needed to be done until the parents showed up.
Harry and Seth had set up the outdoor movie screen inside the pavilion for the end of the year slide show that was the closing of every year. Alice and Jasper had spent a week putting it together and trying to find the right music. The camp would be a lot quieter in the next few hours as they saw the campers off.

With dinner winding down Sue announced that it was time for the slide show and everyone turned their attention to the screen. The first picture was of the boys all lounging on one of the cabin front porches as Drake's Started From the Bottom started to play. Bella thought the song was perfect because of it's message of unity and was glad that Alice and Jasper had thought to use the edited version instead the heavily explicit laced version. Every picture held special meaning for her, especially the one that she had taken of Jacob, Embry and Quil at Harry's birthday party. Fun's We are Young started with a picture of a spirit pyramid in front of the girls cabins with Bree on top, raising her arms in victory. For someone who was terrified of heights she didn't let it show as she stood on top of nine other girls.
The pictures shown during the song were more candid and fun, causing a few laughs. A picture of Embry holding Bella upside down by her feet while she gave the camera a look of protest got the most laughs just because of the look that Bella was giving the camera. In my Life by the Beatles closed the slide show as a way of saying goodbye and the pictures held a lot of bitter sweet memories for everyone. One of Jacob and Bella with their arms wrapped around each other from behind as the sun set off to the side cast shadows on them. Who had taken it and how could Bella get a copy of it? She was folded into him and it was hard to see where one ended and the other began.
The song ended and the screen went black as Harry announced that the parents could take the kids home. All five girls came to say goodbye to Bella one by one. Claire promised to come and see her before she left for college but Bella wasn't going to hold her to it. She and Quil had nearly a whole summer to make up for. The twins hugged her and promised to see her next year. Beth was rumored to be applying for a counselor job next year and Bella was sure that she would get it. The younger girls looked up to her. Bree was last and Bella was reluctant to let her go when she hugged her.
"Everything is going to be fine," Bella promised her.
"I'm friending you on Facebook," Bree warned with a dry laugh.
"That would be awesome. I wanna know how you're doing."
"See you next year."
"I'll be here."
She squeezed Bree one last time before passing her off to Seth who had offered to carry her things to her parents car for her. Colin and Brady sandwiched her from both sides, nearly smothering her. Call her crazy, but she was going to miss them and all the trouble and mayhem that they created. Edward and Rosalie cleaned up so that Sue and Bella wouldn't have to and Jacob pulled her to the dock.
She passed Embry and Beth, catching snippets of their conversation. They had become close over the course of the summer but Embry felt that she was too young for anything other than friendship and he wasn't willing to offer her anything other than that. Jacob and Bella dangled their feet over the side with her head on his shoulder and one of his arms around her waist. They were far enough away from the crowd that they could barely make out their shadows in the lantern light. Now that the kids were gone the counselors had free reign over the camp as long as they didn't do anything too crazy. There was talk about a bonfire on the field for the older counselors but anyone under the age of twenty-one wasn't allowed.
Bella had no regrets regarding the summer except that she hadn't resolved her issues with Victoria. They were barely on speaking terms but at least Victoria wasn't hostile anymore. Bella had no plans to steal Riley from her and once Victoria realized that she had relented...somewhat. She would be the bigger person and not remind Victoria that most of their problems stemmed from James' tendency to have roaming eyes and hands. There wasn't a girl at camp that year that he hadn't come on to. Bella had just been his favorite person leer at and make suggestive comments to.
Half an hour later they were completely alone and neither of them had said a single word. No words were needed but soon Bella would need to bite the bullet and voice her fears. That could wait because she didn't want to ruin a good moment. He pulled away from her without warning, pulling his shirt over his head as he stood before throwing it on the dock at his feet.
Bella stared up at him like he was crazy as he held out a hand to her. She rolled her eyes before taking hold of his hand and he pulled her close to him with ease. His hands traveled down her torso to bunch her t-shirt in his hands. It lay next to his without a protest from Bella before he toed off his shoes. She pushed her board shorts down her hips then kicked them off leaving her in the bathing suit that she'd worn that afternoon.
He took her hand and pulled her down the dock at breakneck speed.
"Loose your flip flops because I'm not diving for them," he said quickly.
She let them fall from her feet just before they jumped off the edge of the dock and into the frigid water. Bella came up sputtering water before dragging a hand through her hair. He chuckled, pulling her close to him once more.
"You could have let me pull my hair back. I probably look like a drowned rat," she said, splashing him.
"You look beautiful," he said with a shake of his head.
"You're supposed to say that," she said, flicking her fingers in the water between them, sending up a small shower of water.
They were a tangle of limbs and he was able to keep them afloat with ease. This was the longest amount of time they had alone in days. Bella's girls had been clingy as the end of camp drew closer and Jacob's time had been occupied with getting ready for today as well. They were going to make the next few hours last because they wouldn't have many more moments like this for a long while.
