Stay With Me
"Oh, won't you stay with me? 'Cause you're all I need. This ain't love, it's clear to see, but darling, stay with me."- Sam Smith
Anna and I staid parked on the cliff for another hour or two. I loved her company, I loved hearing her laugh, and I loved to see her smile. The moonlight bounced off her pail skin ever so slightly. It was like she was glowing like an angel.
But, eventually, it was time for her to leave. I didn't want her to go. I could've sat there all night and listened to her talk. I wanted to continue to kiss her and hold her and be with her, but I knew I couldn't. I knew I had to take her home.
And it took everything in my power to take her home. It was obvious she was cross-faded. I knew I shouldn't have gotten her a beer, but I couldn't have said no to her even if I wanted to. I would do anything to make her happy.
We got back to her house at one AM; the porch light was on but the house was dark. I saw her struggling to get her seatbelt off, and I knew I was in trouble. I needed to protect her. How was I supposed to protect her from herself?
I got out of the car and walked around the side to open the door and help her out. She grabbed a hold of my hand and took a big step out, tumbling a little bit on her exit. I held her by her waist tight and led her to the door. By the time we got there, she already had her head snuggled in my chest, not able to look at me. I smiled, smoothed down her hair, and kissed the top of her head.
"Do you need help upstairs?" I whispered, still petting her head.
She looked up at me with a soft smile and shook her head. "My mom might get mad."
"Oh, I see," I chuckled, grabbing her gentley by the chin. "Well then, gorgeous, give me one last kiss."
She tilted her head up and our lips locked ever so gently. I held on to the side of her face, beginning to run my fingers through her hair. She pulled away suddenly, though, and sighed.
"I should go inside," she whispered, her breath tickling my lips.
I sighed. "Yeah you should. Text me tomorrow?"
She smiled. "Yeah I will."
"Alright."
She looked up at me with those big blue eyes, and I didn't want to leave. It was my job to protect her, and, yet, I couldn't do that. She wasn't mine yet, and, unfortunately, I knew I had to wait.
"One more kiss?" I asked.
She giggled softly and gave me one last peck on the lips. I tried to keep her close, but we both knew it was time for me to walk away.
"Thanks Jacob. I had fun."
"Me too." I smiled. "Good night, Anna."
She smiled back and squeezed my hand. "Night Jacob."
I began to walk away as she fumbled through her purse for her keys. I shook my head and sighed, doing anything I could to tell myself she was going to be just fine and nothing bad was going to happen to her. But of course, that wasn't how my mind worked. I hoped in my truck and waited for her to go inside, and, when she finally did, I sped away as fast as I could. I had to keep my eyes on the road; I couldn't look back.
Within five minutes, I made it back to my house. Surprisingly, Embry's Jeep was parked in my driveway. I got out with a sigh. I knew I was gonna have to deal with shit from him.
And sure enough, as soon as he saw my car, he ran outside.
"Jacob!" he yelled. "Where the fuck have you been?"
"Calm down Embry," I chuckled. "Are you trying to wake up the entire fucking reservation?"
"My bad," he laughed, running up to me. "Where have you been?" He took in a long whiff. "And have you been smoking?"
"I was with Anna," I replied. "And yes, father, I was."
"You know Sam would kill you if he found out."
"Sam can kiss my ass," I snorted. "What the fuck are you doing here at one in the fucking morning?"
"The guys and I are down on the beach, drinking, and we wanted you to come."
"Of course you did." I thought for a second. "Alright let's go."
"Sweet."
Our usual bonfire spot was only about a five minute walk from my house, so I grabbed my keys and followed Embry into the forest. I needed a couple more beers to keep my mind off Anna. I just had to remember that she was probably just asleep in her bed, trying to sleep off the crazy high she must have been feeling.
Paul, Quil, Jared, Seth, Brady, and Colin were all sitting around a fire. There were at least three or four thirty-racks of Bud Light. I sat down next to Paul and took a beer from the open pack.
"Aye, long time no see," Paul laughed, hitting me on the back. "Where you been bro?"
"I was with Anna," I replied, opening my beer. "We had dinner and a movie and then smoked and drank on the cliff."
"You get any?" Jared teased.
"Shut up, ass hole," I growled. "It's not even like that."
"What do you mean?" Brady asked.
"Jacob imprinted," Embry explained. "On Anna."
"Fucking finally," Quil laughed. "Who is this girl again?"
"She was the one that came with Jamie to the bonfire." I took a long sip. "She's from Cali."
"Oooooo, wild child," Paul teased. "Good luck, bro."
I rolled my eyes. "Thanks."
"When you gonna introduce us?" Seth asked.
"Yeah, her friends are fine as fuck," Paul added. "Wouldn't mind hitting one of them now and again."
"You're nasty, Paul," Colin whined.
Jared snorted. "You'll understand soon."
I finished my beer quickly, crushed it, and threw it to the side with all the rest of the empty cans. I went to go grab for another one when I felt my phone soflty vibrating in my pocket. I wasn't going to grab it at first; I figured it was my dad or, even worse, Bella. But, after a few rings, I grabbed it. It was Anna. I got up and walked away as I answered.
"Hello?"
"Hey Jacob," she whispered in a slur.
I shoved my hand in my pocket. "What's up?"
"I can't sleep," she continued. "My head is dizzy and I don't feel good."
"I'm sorry, Anna," I sighed. "What can I do?"
"Come back."
That was all I needed to hear.
"What about your mom?" I asked.
Anna snorted. "She's dead asleep, and she has to get up at five for work. Please, I just need someone to lay with me. You can leave whenever you want to, or you can stay the night. I don't know if this is the alcohol talking, but please."
I ran my hand through my hair and sighed. "Yeah, I'll be over in fifteen. Leave your window open."
"Okay." She paused for a minute. "Thanks Jacob."
"Anything for you," I replied. "I'll see you soon."
"Okay. Bye."
I hung up the phone and shoved it back into my pocket. I couldn't believe I was doing this; I didn't know the feelings would be this strong. And of course I couldn't say no. Anything she asked of me I was going to do. I was always going to be there for her, to do anything she asked.
As I walked back to the group, Embry smirked at me.
"Who was that?" he chuckled.
"Anna," I replied. "I'm going back."
"She asked?" Paul laughed. "Hit it."
I smacked him. "Cut it out. I'll see you guys tomorrow." I pat Embry on the shoulder. "Could you give me a ride, bro? I don't wanna leave my car there."
"I feel it." Embry got up and stretched. "Alright, gentemen, I'll be back."
We started walking away. It was obvious that Embry was almost to the point of intoxication as well, but I knew that he could handle himself. It was Anna that I was worried about.
"Don't do anything stupid, Jacob," Embry warned as we got into his Jeep. "You know you'll never forgive yourself."
I sighed. "Yeah, I know, bro. I'm just gonna go over there, cuddle her, maybe kiss her a few times, and let her sleep."
Embry smirked. "Good idea, bro."
The ride was silent, and thankfully quick. I got out as soon as we got there and started walking around the house as I heard Embry speed away. It was easy to find the open window, and easy to get up. With a few simple steps I was in Anna's room.
"Jacob," she whispered, sitting up in her bed.
I smiled softly at her and walked towards her. "Yes baby?"
"Thank you for coming."
I sat down on her bed next to her and pet her hair. "No problem, sweetheart."
"Will you just lay with me?" she asked. "Just hold me please."
I kissed her forehead. "Of course. Do you mind if I get a little more comfortable?"
She nodded and turned away as I began to shed off my clothes. Once I was in just my boxers I pulled the blankets up and lay down right next to her. Immediately she turned on her side and snuggled to my chest. I wrapped my arm around her slowly and began to rub her back.
"It's okay, baby," I whispered. "I'm here."
She nodded and looked up at me. I smiled down at her and brushed a piece of hair out of her face. She began to reach up for me, so I knew what she wanted. I bent down to give her an easier access to my lips, and she took advantage of it. She held onto my cheek as she began to kiss me slowly, at first, and then began to pick up speed and intensity.
I began to run my hands all over her body. I realized she was in just her underwear and a tank top, and it began to turn me on. I ran my hand up and down her legs. They were so smooth and soft, so perfectly sculpted. I let my hands venture up more, tracing her hips, her stomach, and her breasts. She was absolutely gorgeous.
But I realized what was going on and what I was doing. For my own sanity, I had to stop.
"Anna," I whispered.
She pulled away and looked up at me. "Yes?"
"I don't want to do anything to risk what we have going on right know, and, if we keep doing this, I'm going to end up doing that."
She nodded and looked down. "I understand. I need to sleep anyways. Do you want to turn on my TV or something?"
"Can you fall asleep with it on?" I asked.
She nodded and chuckled, snuggling deeper into my chest. "I always fall asleep to the TV."
I smiled softly down at her; she was so gorgeous. Everything about her excited me; everything about her was perfect. She was everything I needed and more. I needed her with me. But I also knew I couldn't get used to this. It was a one night thing.
"Well, do you like to watch anything in particular," I whispered, brushing her hair with the tips of my fingers.
She sighed and closed her eyes. "Just nothing scary."
I chuckled softly. "Okay, I can do that. Good night, Anna."
She kissed my chest and ran her hand over my stomach. "Good night Jacob."
And within a few minutes, she fell asleep.
