**************AUTHOR'S NOTE***************
I'm not even going to think about how long it has been. Kudos to you for sticking around. I'm almost done with the Frozen plot and am debating whether or not I want to continue the story. It would be complete fiction with no reference, so it would take some serious thinking on my part, and some patience on yours. Feel free to send me reviews with your thoughts. For now, Chapter 14!
Jack's breathing was heavy. He and Olaf had been running around the abandoned kingdom, searching for a sign of life from either of the girls, but to no avail.
"Come on!" Olaf yelled ahead of him. "We have to make sure Anna kisses her one true love!"
Jack hurried to catch up with him at the kingdom gate, only to be stopped by a patch of ice nearby. He looked around, seeing no other ice on the ground, only snow. His gaze returned to the ice underfoot. His thoughts were interrupted by a gust of cold wind, blowing his silvery locks into his eyes. Brushing it aside, he looked up to see Olaf chasing after his arm which had been dislodged. Remembering the ice, Jack looked again and noticed the patch had grown, which confirmed his suspicions.
Elsa.
"You go on ahead, Olaf," Jack yelled, hoping the top heavy snowman could hear him. "I'll catch up." He could hear Olaf shout back an enthusiastic "Will do!" from somewhere else in the square. He stared at the patch of ice. Raising his eyes he saw a window. He could see flurries flying out from the bars, could hear Elsa struggling against…something. Something holding her back.
Don't get involved, Jack.
Invisible now, he peered through the window and saw chains wrapped around her hands and keeping her imprisoned. He winced.
I'm not getting involved.
He hoped and prayed to whatever Elsa believed in that she could free herself in time. Though he had the ability to help, he knew that if he did, Elsa would never be truly free from her curse.
She has to do this alone.
Elsa couldn't see Jack. She simply wished he were there. She hoped and prayed, to what, she didn't know, but she wished with all her might that he could come and rescue her. She reached out to him with her chained palms, relief washing over her, certain that he would come to her aid.
"Jack!"
But he walked away.
I know!
Anna's eyes slowly closed as she shivered for the last time. She barely heard Olaf burst through the door.
Anna!
Later she would hardly remember the fire, Olaf melting, or even escaping the castle, which seemed intent to keep them prisoner.
Olaf, you'll melt!
It was all a blur to her. Years later the only thing she would remember from those couple of hours is that Hans didn't love her.
I was wrong. It wasn't true love.
All she had left in the world was her sister and their snowman.
Some people are worth melting for.
Kristoff would tap her shoulder every time she told the story and remind her gently he was there too, but Anna would later consider that a moot point.
I know that's a major cop-out for the last bit of that scene, I just couldn't think of any other way to play it. I don't really enjoy analysing Anna that much. Maybe I'll redo the ending later. Sorry.
