A/N: I updated again! Yay! Hopefully, I'll have this done before the end of summer!
Once they were all packed, Blade and Abby headed straight to the Charles de Gualle Airport.
Neither one spoke unless they had to, and while they waited for their flight, others looked at them oddly.
Abby sat a chair away from Blade with her arms crossed. She stared directly in front of her as she silently fumed.
She hated how she had to rely on him. He had been hunting vampires longer than she had, so he was more resourceful. However, she was starting to regret enlisting in his help.
Maybe it was a lost cause. There was no way to know if King was dead or not, and Abby felt herself losing faith.
King. She missed him. His smile and his laugh never failed to cheer her up. He was kind and considerate when it came to her, nothing like how Blade acted. She yearned for that comfort and friendship once more, but she was alone until they could find King.
Blade was a cold-hearted asshole. He had seemed friendly with Karen, but he was not the same with anyone else. She wondered how much longer she would have to put up with his chilly demeanor.
She looked at clock and saw that they still had half an hour until boarding time. She glanced over at Blade who was surveying the terminal. With her only luggage right next to her, she stood up and grabbed it.
Before Blade could say anything, she said, "I need to handle some womanly business."
Not waiting for his reaction, she walked to the restroom with her rolling suitcase trailing behind her.
As she entered, she noticed that it was nearly.
She walked to the sinks and splashed some cold water on her face.
After wiping off the excess water, she started at her reflection.
There were bags under her eyes and her cheeks looked sunken in. Her body looked bony and muscular, and she could tell that she had lost some weight. She didn't even really recall the last time she ate.
She leaned against the sink and closed her eyes. Why the hell had she chosen this? She could have had a normal life, but instead she chose to track her father down and become involved in his hunt.
She had not known her sisters or stepmother, so she didn't share his vengeance. Her mother and stepfather were good people who provided the very best for her, and this is how she repaid them.
Sighing, Abby rubbed her face and opened her eyes. She could end this now and walk away. She still had her whole life ahead of her, and so did Blade. She dragged him into this, and it wasn't fair to him.
With a determined mind, she left the restroom and watched Blade from afar. His eyes were still sweeping the area, so she found a group of college students and walked next to them. She lifted a map from one of their bags and tucked it into her jacket pocket.
Abby pulled her cell out of her pocket and took the battery out. Breaking the phone in half, she tossed it in the nearest dumpster.
She moved quickly and within minutes she was standing outside the airport.
Taking a deep breath, she stepped to the curb and hailed a taxi.
As she got in, she realized that she had no clue where to go. The driver looked at her expectantly, so she told him to drive her to the farthest bus station.
"That's almost a six hour drive," he said. She handed him a huge wad of cash.
"Six hours it is," he said and began the journey.
As tired as she was, Abby forced herself to stay awake during the drive. She didn't trust this man, so she spent the trip comparing their route to the map.
When she arrived at the North Bus Station, she took a bus to a Swiss airport. As soon as she arrived, she booked a flight to Romania.
It was unlikely that Blade would be able to track her down, but she stayed out of the main areas just in case. He would be pissed, she knew that. But she needed to do this on her own for now, and he could go back to his normal life. Her father had wanted that for him in the end.
She felt herself in a familiar situation waiting for her flight to Romania. Romania seemed like a stereotypical place to go, but it was possible. Drake's birth place was not the best country to be in at the moment, so she chose the most ludicrous location.
She wondered if Blade knew where she was. If he did, he wouldn't be able to catch up to her until she stayed in one area long enough.
Before she knew it, it was time to board the plane. Like with the taxi ride, she stayed awake and alert. Her body was fatigued, but her mind was cautious. One slip up could lead her to being found.
When she landed, Abby had no idea where to go from there. She didn't know any people here, and she didn't know how the vampire system was setup in this country.
In the meantime, she hailed a cab and went to a hotel. She picked a small room close to a fire exit, but she was still felt uneasy.
She had no weapons on her since Blade had been in charge of that. She didn't even know the gun laws, so she couldn't buy one off the street and risk getting arrested.
"Maybe I fucked up in going off on my own," she said, but shook her head. This was for the best. She just needed a moment to adjust, and then she would be fine.
She laid on the bed and let her mind run. All her fears, hopes, and thoughts overwhelmed her brain until it shut down for a break.
She finally felt a little peace as exhaustion took over.
A/N: Hope you enjoyed it!
