A/N: Sorry for the lack of updates again. I was sick with a cold/flu, and I had midterms. I would like to say thank you for the reviews. They really keep me going. Remember, only two more chapters!

Abby took a deep breath before knocking on the door. Her hands could not stay still as they held onto each other. Each millisecond that went by felt like an eternity.

When the door opened, the faces that greeted her made her heart skip a beat. She was crushed in a hug of four arms.

"Welcome home, Abigail!" the two said in unison.

"It's good to see you too, Mom and Dad."

They practically dragged her across the threshold and forced her into a chair in the living room. Her mother and stepfather sat on the couch across from her with smiling faces.

"How have you been?" her stepfather asked.

"We heard about Whistler. How have you been handling it? I hope you're atleast seeking help. Are you still hunting?" her mother's words nearly ran together as they were spoken so fast.

"One at a time," Abby said. "I have been receiving help. The past few years have been difficult for me. I lost all my friends, and I was in a pretty bad way. But I met someone who helped me get past all that, so now I am doing a lot better."

"Is it a special someone?" her stepfather asked. "What's his name?"

"Honey, don't make assumptions! It could be a woman or someone else."

Abby felt her lips stretch into a smile. It was good to be home.

"He's not special to me like that. He's just a friend, and he knew Whistler. He helped me get through it."

Her stepfather's eyebrow rose. "If you say so, but don't be ashamed if you ever want to bring him by."

Abby watched as her mom swatted her stepfather on the arm. "What's wrong with her being single? We don't need grandkids just yet."

"Mom, Dad, please stop. I am not seeing anyone, and honestly, it's not a priority."

They both laughed.

"I'm sorry, sweetie. Please tell us everything. We haven't seen you in years, and we missed you so much," her mom said.

"I'll tell you, but it's not a pretty story. And it's long," she began.

She told her parents of the events that happened since the last time she saw them. She somehow kept her composure while they wept several times when she told them about all of the deaths. She did not leave out a single detail, and for once she felt lighter.

As she confessed her tale to them, she felt the weight of it leaving her. While a lot was still buried in her heart, the mind-numbing stuff started to free her. She would have to thank her shrink for this. Talking about it to others was really helping.

When she was done, she was light-headed. Her parents had the most sympathetic look on their faces, and she couldn't blame them.

"Why didn't you come to us sooner? We would have understood!" her stepfather said. He rushed forward and gave her a hug.

"I didn't want to acknowledge it for the longest time."

"Then we truly failed you as parents," he said and held her tighter. "We should have realized it sooner. We should have tried harder."

"Honey, this isn't about us. This is about Abigail," her mother said.

"But she's our little girl."

"Dad, there's nothing you could have done. It was just something I needed to figure out on my own."

The rest of the evening was spent on happier conversation. Her stepfather made dinner, and her mother made dessert. Abby felt happy being around them again. It had been so long since she had seen them.

By the time she left, she was in a better mood than she had ever been in months. Unfortunately, that led to her guard being down.

She was grabbed and slammed into a wall. A crushing hand was at her throat as she struggled to make sense of what just happened.

"See I told you that the bitch's daughter was still alive. We just had to wait for her to visit mommy and daddy again," one male's voice said.

Abby opened her eyes to see a male vampire in front of her, and a female vampire a few feet away.

"Yes, and what are we going to do with her now? I told you that this was a waste of time," the woman said.

"He ordered us to locate the Daywalker, and this bitch can help!" the male said. Abby struggled against him, and his grip got tighter.

"Stop calling her a bitch. That's rude. And let go of her, she's not going to lead us to Blade," the woman said with a bored voice.

Abby gritted her teeth as it became harder for her to breathe. She kicked out with her feet and managed to dislodge her attacker. She pulled a silver dagger from her purse and thrust it through his heart.

He immediately turned to ash, and the female vampire gave her a smirk.

"Are you going to attack me too?" Abby asked, and the woman shook her head.

"No. I was hoping you would kill him. He was getting on my nerves. I'm going to save you some time. The vampire king ordered us to find Blade. My partner thought that you could lead the way, but I know that you two have parted for good. I really don't care about finding Blade, so I'm just letting you know that Drake is looking for him. I hope that you spare me in exchange for this information."

Abby regarded the woman with caution. "And why should I believe you?"

"Look into it for yourself. I mean you and Blade no harm, and neither does Drake. My pal didn't quite get the memo."

"Then why is Drake looking for him?"

The woman shrugged. "I don't know. It's not my place to ask. Just pass the message along if you can. Sorry about all of this and have a good night."

The female vampire turned around and walked away.

Abby stroked her sensitive neck as the wheels turned in her head. What was she going to do now?

A/N: Only two more chapters to go! I can't believe that it's almost over!
