Chapter 9: Boiling
Tenten looked carefully at Sasuke, he seemed different. His countenance had changed some how but Tenten couldn't place it at all. "I thought you wouldn't be home until next week?" Tenten offered a small smile. "Not that I'm combining, Sasuke."
Itachi looked at the two and frowned deeply, handing Nanami to her father. His heart sank a little, hoping he would've been able to have said what he wanted to, but Sasuke's presence was not threatening. He decided to stay and watch the scene take place.
"Well, Naruto and I wrapped up the meeting in the Suna a little sooner than we anticipated." He answered shortly while scooping up Nanami into his , glancing at Itachi. "Were you here for a reason?"
This sudden statement caused Tenten to grow more curious about Sasuke and Itachi and the strange tension between the two. What was it with them?
"Yes, actually I had just come to propose to Tenten." Itachi looked at Sasuke seriously, who nearly dropped his daughter.
Tenten's dark eyes grew wide and she stared at Itachi in disbelief, her heart suddenly found her heart pounding."Excuse me?"
"You what?!" Sasuke boomed and he straight armed Nanami right into Tenten's arms.
Tenten frantically took her child who was panicking just as much as she was. What exactly just happened? Had all those strange moments she had experienced with Itachi really been him coming on to her, or was this some type of sick and twisted joke he was pulling? She hadn't a clue, but her mind was spinning and from the look Sasuke was giving Itachi, it appeared that there was about to be an all-out Uchiha brother war.
"I warned you that if you neglected to make your move, I would." Itachi's lips contorted into a smirk that was next to devilish and his eyes darted at a bewildered Tenten.
"That's no way to talk, Itachi! Are out of your mind?!" You could almost see the steam emitting from Sasuke's nostrils. His fists curled up into fists with snowy colored knuckles.
"S-Sasuke?" Tenten started, looking between the brothers desperately trying to calm this Fast approaching storm that would likely drown Konoha's citizens in a torrential rain.
"Okay, you know what? Go home, Tenten." Sasuke Ordered, something intense blazing in his onyx eyes that Tenten had absolutely never seen in her entire time of knowing him.
It stopped her heart, completely for a moment. "Wh-" she blinked, shaking her head in protest. "No." She frowned, drawing Nanami who was whining sadly, close to her body.
"Tenten.." He warned.
"Gah!" She growled exasperated, and had she not been carrying her daughter she would've thrown her arms up. But instead she glared angrily at Sasuke and Itachi alike and stormed back to their home with their child.
Itachi and Sasuke watched the brunette leave in a fiery huff before turning back to each other. "What the hell are you thinking?!" Sasuke glared at his brother with intense destain for the man.
"Exactly what I had stated." Itachi responded cooly, "you don't appreciate or value her."
"That's bullshit!"
"She's alone."
"She is not!" Sasuke had lost it, absolutely lost it. Yes, he was enthralled his brother was alive and well, elated that he'd been the one to bring he and Tenten together. But this, this was absolutely ridiculous. Tenten simply belonged to Sasuke.
Itachi smirked silently at his little brother, savoring the anger that had suddenly appeared, though it had been simmering for some time. He knew that Sasuke, even though Tenten couldn't see it, saw Itachi's advances. "What are your plans, what are you going to do about it?"
"Don't provoke me! answer me! What are you doing?!" Sasuke commanded.
"Do you really think I plan to take your family from you?" Itachi smirked. "Please!"
"Then what are you doing?" His rage was boiling over.
"What do you think?"
Sasuke growled and swung fast at Itachi, shrinking him hard against his jawline. "How fucking dare you. This is my life you're messing with! Talking about proposing to Tenten?! I planned to do that I bought a fucking ring!"
Itachi brought his slender hand to his cheek and smirked. "Sometimes little brothers just need a bit of a push. But I think you really pissed Tenten off."
Tenten placed Nanami in her crib, and began pacing the room in a frustration. What on earth?! Itachi? Propose? Why!? This isn't right. It can't be right.
"Ma!" Nanami pouted sadly, frustrated that her mother was ignoring her.
I have never seen Sasuke like that! Tenten crossed her arms and continued pacing to and fro.
"Ma!" Nanami demanded the attention of her mother, desperately. The intuitive little thing could tell they something was wrong with her mother, uncle and father.
"Okay, I'm sorry honey." Tenten leaned down to up her child before wincing and grabbing her stomach as a shooting pain began to over take her. Her chocolate eyes widened, not knowing why the sudden feeling had come about. But whatever it was, it was something terrible.
She heard the front door click open just as she slumped to the ground in the nursery right in front of Nanami's crib. Nanami was in a panic, now looking down at her pained mother.
"Sasuke?!" Tenten's voice sounded strangled and frightening. All of her anger disappeared, fear setting in instead.
Sasuke heard the bloodcurdling cry of his name and he rushed down the hall and to Nanami's room where it had come from. Tenten sat hunched over, clutching her stomach in pain. He'd come home to apologize for being so harsh, and possibly pop the question with the looming fear of his brother trying the same thing.
He rushed to her, looking at her with fear dancing in his eyes. "Tenten." His voice husked.
"Something's wrong." She frowned, sweat forming on her brow.
"Is it the baby? Did you find out if.." His eyes scanned her body, sensing something was horribly wrong.
"Sa-" she started, cringing. "Sakura said my results came back negative."
"Sakura lied, dammit!" He panicked, fairly certain she was having a miscarriage. "We need to get you to the hospital right now!"
