Chapter 11: Marry My Daddy
The house was immaculately clean, things were set up and ready to go. He hoped to God that all of his plans went accordingly, because today was an awefully important day. He was nervous, sweating and terrified as he waited for Tenten to come home from her doctor's appointment. The baby was doing well, and she had made it past the thre month marker, it appeared like she was going to do just fine and carry the child to term. He was thrilled. They'd just celebrated dear Nanami's second birthday, and she was in on the entire scheme as well.
Tenten thought that Itachi was babysitting Nanami while she went on a quick routine check up. It was difficult for her to watch a two year old and get an ultrasound, bloodwork and other examinations done. Sasuke was, of course, away on a mission. He'd been gone for two weeks. This was not true. He hadn't been gone, he'd simply been preparing. Preparing to propose to the love of his life finally after years of suffering, growing, expanding, crying, termoil, misery, love, passion, angst, anger, fighting, laughing, and everything in between.
"You remember what to do, Nanami?" Sasuke asked his child softly as he knelt down to her and locked eyes with her, smoothing out any wrinkles in her cute black tutu.
Nanami bobbed her head confidently, smiling just like her mother. "Yep!" She replied, eagerly as she held the beautiful ring in her tiny palm and looked down at it with sparkling eyes. "Will," She grunted and held the ring out to her father, distressed. "Mommy be happy?"
"Of course she will, Nanami." Sasuke chuckled at his daugher's concern for her mother and her happiness. Their child certainly had a large heart and could easily tell when someone was saddened, or troubled. Especially her mother. The girl was intuitive and observant, something most Uchiha's were.
Sasuke suddenly gulped when he saw Tenten's shadow through the closed curtains of the window as she approached the front door. "Go on," He nudged Nanami and whispered quietly while he concealed himself in the kitchen.
The front door swung open with a creak and the sound of a sigh escaped Tenten's lips. "I'm back, Itachi." She said tiredly as she plopped her bag onto the couch and began to take her shoes off. She frowned as she looked around the room. She saw her toddler walking toward her slowly, but her toddlers uncle was nowhere to be seen. This was very unlike Itachi. She knelt down in front of Nanami and gave her a small, but concerned smile. "Hi honey, where's uncle?"
Nanami shrugged her tiny shoulders and smiled slyly. "Mommyyyy..." She giggled deviously. This must've been a trait she also inherited from her father.
"Yes?" Tenten quirked a dark brow and looked at her child curiously, certainly Nanami was up to something terribly suspicious.
"This is for you," She said proudly as she opened her tiny fist, revealing the elegnt engagement ring, sparkling and dazzling.
Tenten looked at what her daugher was holding and let out a gasp. No, this couldn't be from Itachi. Tenten had hoped that he and Sasuke were past all of this nonsense. "Who is this from?" She asked her child softly, her breath was nearly taken away by the beauty but simplicity of the ring.
Before Nanami could spill the beans, Sasuke emerged from the kitchen, wearing the tux he'd worn for Naruto's wedding. It still fit like a glove. And he looked dashing.
Tenten looked up at Sasuke and immediately her stomach filled up with butterflies, gazing upon the most handsome man she'd ever laid eyes upon and she realized what was happening. He was proposing. And in the most sweet, beautiful way she could possibly imagine.
He stood there for a moment, allowing the situation to sink in, and he watched Tenten's eyes well up with warm tears before he dropped down on bended knee and looked at Tenten with the most sincere gaze that he could possibly muster. "Tenten,"
She was already losing it, Tenten was having difficulty breathing and focusing. She could hardly believe it was finally happening. Sasuke was asking for her hand. Her heart was turning, stomach fluttering and tears were gushing from her eyes before he'd even uttered a word.
Nanami looked between her parents, smiling happily and cheerfully, watching the romantic scene unfold.
"Tenten" Sasuke repeated, his daughter wedged between he and his lover, he scooped up the ring from his daughters palm and looked into Tenten's teary eyes, finding himself fighting the urge to cry himself. He hated that about Tenten, but loved at he same time. "I love you."
"Mommy." Nanami said blatantly, looking at her mother with a very serious expression that was so adorably laughable. "Please marry my daddy."
Tenten let out a gasp, feeling as though she'd been holding her breath for years. She looked at the faces of the two people she loved most in this life and couldn't help but smile widely. "Of course I'll marry your daddy, but only if he marries me."
