Harmony opened her eyes, and immediately wished she hadn't. The pain in her body was becoming more and more prominent with every second that passed. She closed her eyes tightly again and turned over in the bed, only half surprised to feel a sleeping Sirius crammed in next to her.
She groaned out loud as a wave of nausea passed through her. "Fucking hell." she muttered, dragging herself up and out of bed. She got up too fast and nearly fell over again from the pounding in her head, sick feeling in her stomach and the blinding sunlight streaming in from the window. She made a beeline for the bathroom, tripping over the sleeping forms of Alice and Frank on the way, trying not to puke everywhere.
Finally, Harmony reached the washroom, almost sprinting to the toilet. She then proceeded to retch out her entire stomach contents into the ceramic bowl. Her throat burned as her body got rid of all the alcohol, and when she was done she sunk to the ground, laying her head on her knees as she tried to calm herself. She way, way overdid it last night. Harmony shakily stood and flushed the toilet when someone started banging on the door.
"Harmony? It's me." Liven called, her voice still quiet as to not wake anyone. "You okay?"
"Yeah," Harmony replied, her voice cracking. "Just give me a minute."
She caught sight of herself in the mirror and realized that she was in her bra and underwear. "Shit," she muttered, going over to the sink to rinse her mouth out while she tried to remember what the fuck even happened last night.
There was dancing…and firewhiskey. Lots and lots of firewhiskey. Too much firewhiskey. She remembered grinding on someone…Sirius…Liven?
"Liv," Harmony called.
"Yeah?" she replied, and Harmony went over and unlocked the door.
Liven looked almost as bad as Harmony did. She was also in her undergarments, and her makeup was smudged under her eyes. "What the fuck happened last night?"
Liven sighed. "Well. That's a good question. I'm pretty sure we grinded?"
"Good god." Harmony closed her eyes again. "And where are our clothes?"
"Ah, that I do remember. We went and swam in the lake."
It came flooding back to Harmony. Well, parts of it. She didn't remember getting outside, but she remembered taking off her dress and Sirius making some comment, then she remembered wading around in the water a bit with the others…but even those fragments of memories still didn't help her get a grip on the big picture.
Harmony walked out of the bathroom and opened the wardrobe, blindly reaching in Sirius' area and coming back with a black t-shirt in hand. Liven was putting her dress back on as Jack came around. Harmony made a beeline for the bed where Sirius was still laying.
"I feel like I got hit by a truck." Jack commented, his voice loud in the quiet room.
"So do I." Liven said back, and Harmony heard their little mattress shift as she laid back down.
One by one everyone started to awaken.
"Bloody hell." were the first words out of Sirius' mouth as he turned on his side, facing Harmony. She was curled up under the blankets, his t-shirt still clenched in her fist as she tried to muster the energy to actually put it on. All she wanted to do was sleep for a week or two. Or until this pain went away…which would probably be in a week or two.
"I know." she said. "Where do you keep your hangover potion?"
"In the side drawer." Sirius replied, his morning voice deep and raspy as his eyes remained shut. Harmony leaned over him, her body resting on his momentarily while she opened the drawer and retrieved the bottle of potion.
"Do you have a shirt on?" he asked into the pillow.
"Nope." Harmony flopped back down, burrowing beneath the covers. She closed her eyes and willed her body not to puke as she took a hearty swig of the nasty-tasting liquid.
"Why?" he asked his eyes finally cracking open as James was passing around his own bottle of potion.
"Because apparently we went for a dip in the lake."
Sirius screwed his face up for a second, then he said, "I think I remember that." he then sat up and took a big gulp of the hangover potion. "Anyone else need some?" he asked out loud. Becca came over, wearing her dress from last night.
She drank some, then passed it to Remus who looked absolutely exhausted. "I'm never drinking again." he muttered before throwing the liquid back like a shot.
After the large group had all taken some potion, the overall mood in the room had improved slightly. Liven, Lily and Alice all wandered back to their dorm to shower and wash up. Becca also parted from Remus soon after, both of them blushing madly. Frank and Jack had left too, and Peter went down to the kitchens with James to grab some plain tea. They convinced Remus to go along. All of them, however, left with the promise to meet up again for dinner which was in a few hours, as it was two in the afternoon when they all finally woke up from their alcohol-induced slumber.
It was only Sirius and Harmony in the dorm, both of them half-conscious. Harmony felt much better with the hangover potion working literal magic in her system, but the ache was still there. She had been that drunk before, but she never did it often as the aftermath was so horrible. "From what I can remember," Sirius started. "that was probably one of the best nights of my life."
"I agree." Harmony mumbled, turning on her side to face him.
"How do you feel?" Sirius asked.
"Still shitty." Harmony smiled a little. "But hey, I brought it on myself."
Sirius was about to say something, but then he sat up, leaning on his elbow and staring down at her. "Wait, move your hand for a second," he said, and she complied moving her hand away from her neck.
"Oh shit-" he covered his mouth with his hand, stifling laughter. "I am so sorry."
"What?" she asked, reaching up to feel her neck.
"I might've-" he started, then shut up abruptly. "Nothing."
Harmony narrowed her eyes at him. "What the fuck did you do, Sirius Black?"
"Go look in the mirror."
"I'm not getting up." she said flatly, sighing.
"Well, just make sure you look in the mirror before you go anywhere, then."
"That was rude." she told him.
"Not like that. I'm just saying that you should be aware of what you have going on in that area-" he pointed towards her neck and collarbones.
"I don't even want to know." she yawned with her eyes closed, stretching her arms out widely. The blankets rode down to her mid-stomach. "Get your eyes on my face, Sirius Black."
"I would say I'm sorry, but I'm totally not." Sirius was grinning, his voice laced with laughter.
Harmony opened her eyes again and said, "I have to pee so badly that it hurts my stomach."
"Go pee." Sirius advised helpfully.
Harmony groaned in a very un-humanlike matter and stood up, feeling Sirius' eyes all over her as she pulled on his loose t-shirt. "Stop looking at me." she said, her face hot.
"I'd rather not stop." Sirius replied, leaning back with his arms behind him, supporting his bloated fucking noggin that needed to be popped.
She shook her head and stalked over to the bathroom again. After relieving herself, Harmony started to wash her hands. She stopped, leaning in close to the mirror as she caught sight of something behind her hair.
She brushed it aside and discovered about three dark bruises on her neck. "Sirius fucking Black!" she yelled furiously, yanking down her shirt to look at the two hickeys littering her collarbones too.
He was laughing loudly from the room, appearing at the doorway a second later as Harmony's face heated up so much that he poked her cheeks and pretended to burn his finger. "Sorry about those."
"How the fuck-I just-" Harmony pulled her hair up in a ponytail as she inspected her neck. "I can't even use makeup to cover up half of these! I don't even remember getting them! That's so horrible. I feel so trashy right now. Oh god."
"Well, you obviously know they're from me so I don't know why you feel trashy. You were just drunk and let your super hot boyfriend kiss you. And you could always heal them!" Sirius ended slyly.
"And lose our fucking bet? Nice try." she whipped around to him and inspected his neck. "Hah. You have one right there. Oh, there's another one." she pointed out two dark spots that were not nearly as bad as hers.
"Somehow we always end up here. If we both collectively didn't like neck kissing so much, this wouldn't be a problem." he grabbed Harmony by the shoulders and pulled her against his body. She reluctantly wrapped her arms around his bare middle. "I'm sorry, love." he said into her hair.
"No you're not."
"No, I'm not." he chuckled. "But hey, it was a night to remember."
"Or not." Harmony snorted, pulling away and walking back into the dorm. She sat down on the end of Sirius' bed as he rummaged around in his clothing for something to wear, as he was still in his boxers.
"Nice bum, where're ya from?" Harmony cackled.
"I could ask you the same thing. Who even matches their underwear?" he asked, grinning, as he tossed her a pair of track pants.
"I never do but it just so happens that I did yesterday." she defended, catching the article easily. She stood up and slipped them on, rolling both the waistband and cuffs at the bottom. "You should buy your track pants smaller." she grunted as she fell over after leaning down. She was too tired to get back up so Harmony remained there on the ground in front of his bed.
"Those are literally my smallest pair, Harmony." Sirius laughed, pulling on a navy blue t-shirt. He was wearing sweat pants, too.
"Help me up?" she asked, and Sirius walked over and pulled Harmony up, leading her into the bathroom so he could brush his teeth. She hopped up on the counter, watching him.
"Thank goodness it's Sunday, huh?" Harmony sighed, rubbing her stomach. She still felt a little sick, but between the potion and vomiting her stomach out, it didn't feel as horrible as it did before.
"You okay?" he asked through a mouthful of toothpaste.
She nodded, and he finished cleaning his teeth. Water splashed her as he rinsed his mouth out. He offered her the brush but she shook her head saying, "I don't think I can handle anything in my mouth right now. I'll just use my wand."
"Common room?" he asked, and Harmony replied, "Common room."
They made their way down the staircase and into the half-full room below. The kids in there were mainly older ones, and every single student fourth year and over looked massively hungover. Some greeted to Sirius and Harmony as they passed, and the chatter was quiet as they all exchanged stories from the party yesterday in hushed tones so they didn't irritate each other's sensitive heads.
"I should really study. Exams are Tuesday." Harmony commented.
"Don't remind me." Sirius groaned, then he asked. "Want to you for a walk? I feel like I need to walk this off."
Harmony didn't particularly fancy one, but she shrugged and joined him anyway. The sun was becoming obscured by clouds and Harmony didn't mind in the least - the last thing she wanted was a bunch of bright light attacking her from every window.
Sirius pulled her out of the common room and they wandered the halls aimlessly, their intertwined fingers swinging between them. "I still can't believe you punched Tianna in the face." Sirius said suddenly.
"Wholy shit, I forgot about that!" Harmony exclaimed. She laughed. "I don't even regret it. Oops."
Sirius snorted and asked her to tell the story again, which she gladly did. Not three seconds after Harmony finished talking, they bumped into Lily. "Hey!" she called weakly. Her face looked a little pale.
"Hey, Lils." Harmony smiled as Lily joined them. "You look mighty hungover."
"I'm not the one who practically killed herself running to the bathroom to puke this morning." Lily teased, laughing lightly.
"We were so drunk, wholy shit." Harmony sighed. "Wow."
Lily nodded, then continued seriously. "I need to talk to you guys."
"About what?" Harmony asked, a little nervous. That phrase instantly initiated a wave of anxiety within her.
"Uh. James." Lily said awkwardly, surprising Harmony.
"Oh?" Harmony asked, eyebrows raised as she looked at Sirius.
"What about?" Sirius asked, leaning past Harmony to glance at Lily.
"I'm just…really confused."
"Because you've disliked him for long that it scares the shit out of you now that you actually like him?" Harmony went straight for the target.
"Well," Lily started, her cheeks gaining some colour back. "I'm not sure if I fancy him, but I do like him as a person."
Harmony shot Sirius a gleeful look then turned back around to Lily as they continued on through the halls, the odd student stalking by. "All I can say is don't fret over the fact that you're supposed to dislike him. We're all the tightest of mates now, so no one is going to call you out on it."
"Ever since you two started dating…" Lily started, gathering her thoughts. "Like we all became super close and I guess I realized that he's changed a lot, and that makes me so confused because I guess I'm kinda scared."
Sirius interjected, "If it helps, Lily, he's really trying. Like, he's not trying to get in your pants, but honestly he's trying so hard to at least be friends with you. He completely changed his entire attitude after what happened last year."
Lily smiled a little. "I know. And we are mates now, but like, I danced with him so much last night and I basically spent a solid uninterrupted twelve hours with him yesterday he like, he let me sleep in his bed…"
Harmony was trying so hard to contain all her inner joy. This was the moment they had all been waiting for for years. And here it was, just occurring in front of her eyes. Lily was finally, finally coming round.
"You're really special to him." was all Harmony could say.
Lily sighed again, then said, "Well, I think I'm just going to head back to the dorm for a little bit. I'm sill feeling pretty shitty."
"Okay," Harmony smiled, waving as Lily broke off from them. She turned to Sirius. "Wholy. Fucking. Shit."
He was grinning. "I knew it!"
They laughed for a minute, then Sirius said, "Come on, let's go hang out in the Room of Requirement."
"Alright." they changed directions and in a comfortable silence they walked the mostly empty corridors.
They arrived at the stretch of wall hiding the magical room behind it and Sirius closed his eyes in thought for a second, only to open them a moment later. The door materialized out of nothing, the dark brown swirly patterns appearing on the stone in front of the two teens.
Harmony was sort of scared to see what was beyond the door, but she pushed it open anyway.
Long gone were the streamers, balloons and tables. It was no longer a vast room filled with jostling bodies and the stench of alcohol. The room was quite small and cosy, with one wall taken up completely by a window. She had no idea how the room did it, for it was smack in the middle of the school. But there it was, a view of the top of the forbidden forest and grey, cloudy sky. In front of the window was a massive couch, covered in blankets and soft pillows.
Harmony let go of Sirius' hand and stepped in more, her eyes drinking up the view. "It's so beautiful." she breathed.
"Wow, I'm actually proud of myself." Sirius chuckled, then he walked over and plopped down on the couch, closing his eyes.
"Hold up," Harmony said, turning to face the blank wall where another door was appearing. "I have to pee."
Once she completed her business, Harmony used her wand to brush her teeth, as the taste of her puke was making her want to vomit all over again. She went over to the couch where Sirius resided and laid down next to him. They were both quiet, looking out the window. Rain started to streak the glass, blurring out the view beyond.
"I have to tell you something." Sirius said out of the blue.
Harmony's heart immediately started to pound again. "What about?" she asked anxiously. First Lily, now Sirius.
Sirius sat up slightly and looked down at her. "Calm down, you look terrified."
"Are you breaking up with me?" Harmony asked, her breath hitching.
"God, no." Sirius shook his head, chuckling. "No, no."
Harmony let herself breath again. "You fucking scared me." she whispered.
"Sorry," he laughed, then it died away quickly. "It's just that James got a letter a couple days ago addressed to the both of us from his parents and they said that they surprised-planned a vacation to Spain for the first two and half weeks of summer."
Harmony thought about this, "That's so cool! I'm assuming you're both going with them, right?"
"Yeah." Sirius said. "I mean, it's Spain, which is going to be amazing…but I also won't see you for eighteen days."
Harmony blew air out from her mouth. "Well, this is a much better outcome of the situation than I anticipated forty seconds ago."
"We literally spend almost every hour of every day together. Eighteen days is going to fucking suck."
"Sirius," Harmony sat up and looked him in the eyes, her hair slipping off her shoulder. "It's okay. It's going to suck so much. But make sure you write me letters and see me the second you come home."
He smiled. "I'll bring you back some foreign coffee."
"You know me too well." she grinned, relieved. Harmony forced herself not to think too much about it. She'll leave the brooding over this information for when he was actually about to leave. Harmony's face wrinkled and brought her hair to her nose. "My hair smells like lake."
"Well, we did go for a swim in it."
"Don't be a smartass." Harmony scolded, letting her body collapse back on the cushions. She turned over on her stomach and rested her head in the crook of her elbows.
"It was so worth the smelly-lake smell, though." Sirius sighed, laying back down too.
"Why's that?" Harmony asked, closing her eyes and grinning.
"You know why." Sirius replied. His hand went up and started scratching Harmony's back lightly.
"All in all, I think all of yesterday was one of the best days of my life, to be completely honest." Harmony whispered.
"Between winning the match, you punching Tianna, the party with the booze and dancing and our little dip in the lake…" Sirius was smiling, she could feel it. "It was definitely one I'm going to remember for the rest of my life."
"But seriously, though," Harmony said. Sirius' fingers were still running up and down her back and she was fighting to stay awake. "we literally only have exams left and then this school year is done."
"I know." he said, as she continued.
"Then we're on our last year at Hogwarts, Sirius. And then that's it. And all of this scares the shit out of me. So much has changed this year…" Harmony exhaled.
"Don't overthink it. I know you, and I know that you have a habit of processing things into oblivion." Sirius told her.
"Okay." she said, then she added, "My head hurts."
"I bet." Sirius chuckled, then he said, "Mine hurts, too."
"Let's cuddle it out." Harmony suggested, and she scooted even closer to him, her face buried in his cologne-scented shoulder.
"When in doubt, cuddle it out." Sirius slipped his hand beneath Harmony's t-shirt, his finger tips running feather-light down the bare skin of her back.
She smiled and said, "Don't struggle, just snuggle."
"Bad day? Spoon it away."
"A hug a day keeps the bullshit at bay."
They were laughing, the sound filling up the quiet room.
The minutes slipped by as they stayed there, occasionally talking. It was so peaceful, and Harmony just wanted to stay like that forever. There, with Sirius, she could stop herself from becoming anxious and worried about everything in her life that caused her to feel that way. Whether it be Voldemort, or exams, or the fact that she had one more year left at school and then she was on her own…it all sort of faded into the background.
"I'm actually starting to get hungry." Sirius muttered, after a really long time. Harmony couldn't feel her legs anymore, and the sky was slowly but steadily getting a little bit darker - and not just from the clouds.
"Let's head back, how about?" Harmony suggested, yawning. She was also starting to get cold in her t-shirt.
It took them about ten minutes to actually get up and another five to leave the peaceful little paradise they'd created behind. Harmony watched as the door disappeared into nothing, and together Sirius and herself made their way down to the Great Hall. Conveniently, they found out, dinner was to start in about fifteen minutes - this meant that they literally spent the entire afternoon in that little room.
"Where were you guys hiding?" Liven asked when the two tired teens stalked over to the Gryffindor table. Most of their friends were there already, chatting lightly on the benches.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Harmony asked, then laughed. "Room of Requirement."
"Was it still a party in there?"
"Nope." Harmony replied.
"You look homeless." Liven said.
"Thank you," Harmony grinned, sitting down. Sirius ran his hand through his hair, taking the seat next to her.
"Did you even go up to the dorm today at all?"
"Nah." Harmony replied, "Where's Jack?"
"I told him to sit with his friends today because he hasn't had a proper conversation with them in like three days."
"You're frickle-frackling with him so much he hasn't even hung out with his mates?" Harmony grinned.
"Harmony!" Sirius scolded. Liven threw a napkin at her.
"Control her." Liven said sternly, pointing at Harmony but talking to Sirius.
"I've learned to accept the fact that I literally can't." Sirius sighed, and Harmony stuck her tongue out at Liven.
Liven looked at them for a minute and said, "I can't figure out if your relationship is like a parent-child or two immature and lost kittens."
Harmony burst out laughing, "Definitely two immature and lost kittens."
"And, by the way, you're one to talk about spending too much time with boyfriends - would you get a look at those hickeys!" Liven exclaimed loudly, slapping her hand on her knee as she barked out laughter. Sirius flourished his arms dramatically out in front of him, then reached over to cover the hickeys with his palms, a devious-slash-humorous expression on his face.
"Shut up." Harmony groaned, partly from how loud Liven was being and partly from the teasing. "I don't even remember getting them."
"I think I gave them to you in the lake." Sirius stopped what he was doing and stilled for a second while he thought, but them blinked and jumped back into the conversation, pulling his hands away. "I could be wrong. I have no idea."
"Classy." Liven snorted, still laughing.
"Fuck you." Harmony sighed loudly, letting her head flop onto the table.
Liven started laughing again, reaching out to yank Harmony's hair aside to get a better look. Harmony swatted her hand away. Just then, James and Peter joined the group, and Sirius and them quickly launched into a complete play-by-play of the match yesterday.
Food appeared not long after, but the hall wasn't filled with the sound of the scramble to get food on everyone's plates as per usual. Harmony laughed to herself, thinking back to the crates of alcohol held up by the tables in the Room of Requirement last night.
She grabbed a roll and started picking at it as James babbled on loudly, "…and then I dived, remember? Shit, I thought I was about to fall off-"
Suddenly, to everyone's surprise, Professor McGonagall appeared behind Lily, who was sitting across from Harmony. "Miss Sea, a word?" the professor asked. Her face looked worried, which was a slight relief for Harmony knowing that she wasn't about to get in some sort of trouble.
"Er-" Harmony said, jumping into action as she tried to get out of the bench. She hit her knee painfully on the table and hurried to pull her hair around her neck. "yeah…"
Sirius looked at her, his eyebrows raised, and Harmony felt the eyes of her mates on the retreating backs of herself and the professor. McGonagall led her out into the deserted Entrance Hall. Harmony started to panic. "Is my family-"
"They're fine." McGonagall said. Harmony was massively intimidated under the wise professor's gaze. "However, your old neighbours are not."
"What, who?" Harmony asked.
"It seems as if an attack has been launched on the people who live beside your previous house, before you moved."
"Are they-are they okay?" Harmony felt like throwing up and yelling simultaneously. "Which neighbours? Not Becca's-"
"No, not Miss Leen's. I believe the Robert's were the ones who were attacked."
"What happened? Why?" Harmony asked, her mind overcome with the image of the Roberts family, all muggles. Julie with the blonde highlights, her husband Mark, and their eleven year old son David who used to love playing football with Ryan-
"From what we could gather, select Death Eaters have been assigned to finding your family's whereabouts. They tortured both Mr and Mrs Roberts for information about your whereabouts until it was evident that they literally knew nothing and then after, in a fit of rage it seems, they raided the supermarket and killed three muggles. Mr Roberts has been taken into intensive care in St. Mungo's, but he will recover." McGonagall's face was stern and her eyes were nothing but serious.
"Oh my god." Harmony felt tears well in her eyes, and she tried not to fall over against the wall. "Those muggles at the…the son of-of Julie and Mark-"
"He's fine. Just extremely shaken up and confused, to say the least. He had the common sense to hide and he somehow escaped the Death Eaters' notice. I have no idea how. He was lucky, because if they weren't so focused on getting information back to He Who Must Not Be Named, surely he would've been tortured also."
"Did someone explain about all of this-?" Harmony gestured around Hogwarts, referring to the wizarding world.
"Yes. Professor Dumbledore did it himself, in fact."
"I have to see them, apologize-" Harmony sniffed. "This is completely my fault."
"We don't think it's wise for you to be seen by them, for their safety." McGonagall said. "They are being moved to a safer location, and their memories will be wiped due to the threat of post traumatic stress disorder, a common occurrence in situations like these."
"I…what about-what about my grandparents? And Becca's family?" Harmony asked. Surely, if Voldemort was going after people who knew Harmony, they would be on the list?
"Unfortunately, we cannot move everyone, Harmony. The Ministry will only move those who have been attacked. For the time being I will certainly be contacting the Ministry and asking them to put extensive enchantments on a list of houses, if you would be so kind as to provide us with a list of people who might be in danger."
"I can get it to you by tonight." was all Harmony could say.
"Tomorrow will suffice, Miss Sea." McGonagall told her. She surprised Harmony even more by placing a hand on Harmony's shoulder. "Everyone is going to be okay, Harmony. We'll step up the enchantments on your own home and ensure that only a limited amount of people know your whereabouts."
Harmony nodded and choked out, "Thanks, Professor. But…one more question. Who was it that was sent? The Death Eaters, I mean?"
"From what we identified by the testimonies, it was former student Avery, er, his accomplice Nott, and one other that we couldn't get a name for. I suggest you get on back to dinner, now, or you'll miss dessert. Not that you would have an appetite after last night's party, though." McGonagall threw one last glance at Harmony, then strode back into the hall.
Harmony stared at the spot where the professor disappeared. She took a deep breath and felt her entire body shaking. "Three dead." she muttered, then pushed open the large doors to the vast hall.
She looked over at the Gryffindor table, to see James yanking Sirius back down on the seat, as he was trying to walk over to the double doors where Harmony came in.
Harmony sat down at the table, and Sirius was immediately upon her. "What's going on?"
"My old neighbours were attacked and three muggles at the store were killed." she said, her voice cracking. "My neighbours are going to be okay, but they were tortured for information about my whereabouts. As in, where m-my family is living, I suppose. They know I'm at Hogwarts. And…oh god. Three muggles." Harmony took a deep breath, exhaling not only air, but the last remnants of her desire to speak, too.
Sirius wrapped his whole arm around her, pulling her to his side. He was getting used to hiding his shock. "This isn't your fault." he said. "You don't have to shake."
"It just makes me angry more than anything. Three whole lives lost because of me. Just start making a list because it's probably not going to stop." Harmony said, and no one ate as they listened to her. "My neighbours…they're muggles, and they have an eleven year old son…" Harmony stared down at her plate. "What if he got hurt? He had to hide, and thank whatever the bloody fuck I'm supposed to thank that he had some common sense. But like…his father is in St. Mungo's and his mother-"
"Harmony, they're okay." Sirius whispered, rubbing her arm.
"Why?" Becca asked, her face completely serious.
"They want to know where my family is, so they can use them as leverage. They've realized that the only way to get at me is to hurt the people I love." Harmony answered, looking at Becca. "McGonagall is going to contact the Ministry and have them put heavy enchantments on people's houses, like yours and my Nonna's. I have to make a list."
"Fuck." Liven concluded, and she slowly chewed a bite of food, still looking at Harmony with wide-eyes. "The Daily Prophet is going to have a heyday. I hope they don't mention names, or this is not going to be pretty."
"It was Avery and Nott. Some other guy too." Harmony said, pushing thoughts of the Daily Prophet to the back of her mind. "I swear on my life the next time I see them I'm going to fucking kill them."
Sirius didn't object. The dinner food disappeared and turned into deserts. Harmony grabbed an apple off a tray in front of her, figuring she should at least eat something mildly nutritious. "I'm going to head back, make that list." Harmony announced. She was still so shaken up and she needed to do something. She needed to feel like she could help in some way.
"I'll come." Sirius said, and they waved to their mates as they walked back up to Gryffindor tower. Harmony was so lost in thought that it startled her slightly when the Fat Lady came into view.
Sirius muttered the password and turned to Harmony. "I'll meet you in your dorm, I've got to grab my broom."
"Sure." she said, and they parted. Harmony climbed the staircase to her dorm and wandered in, using her wand to burgeon the fire, making the room brighter as she took a seat at the desk. She tossed her apple core in the garbage and Harmony pulled out a blank piece of parchment, starting to write with her quill. She scratched down her grandparents' names, Becca's family, and some old school friends she occasionally chatted with when she went home.
She could already see a headline: Three Dead and Three Injured as Harmony Sea Remains Safe and Sound at Hogwarts.
Sirius came in, wrapping his arms around Harmony's shoulders. He was silent as she continued to write down the names of her other cousins and such who lived all across England.
Eventually, he said, "You have a big family."
"I'm Italian."
Harmony finished the list and let her body relax against the chair. She looked up at him, her head tilted back in an attempt to stretch it. "How did we go from so good to so bad in matter of minutes, Sirius?"
"Isn't that always the question?" he absent-mindedly pulled her hair off of her neck gently, exposing the skin there.
"I'm in shock right now. Three people are dead. Three people are hurt." Harmony repeated, feeling completely run-down.
Sirius leaned down, his lips leaving feather-light kisses down her cheek until he reached her lips, where he kissed her there. He used his lips to open hers, and she complied.
It wasn't long until they were both standing, eyes closed and catching their breaths as they let their foreheads rest against each other. Harmony reached around Sirius' waist and pulled him closer, his body pressed against hers. She breathed in his intoxicating scent as she let her cheek rest against his warm chest.
Harmony stepped away after a moment and asked, "Will you stay and study with me?"
"'Course." he replied, and Harmony grabbed her Potions textbook off the desk, throwing herself on her messy bed. She never made it because it was such a waste of energy. She would rather just burrow back into the little nest of covers that she created the night before than make a new one.
Sirius collapsed on top of her, knocking the air right out of her lungs. "Not…appreciated-" she hissed.
"How's this then?" Sirius asked, pushing himself up more so his chest was resting on her head, forcing Harmony to practically eat her textbook.
Harmony tried to mumble something, but it was incoherent. Sirius chanced a laugh and moved back down so his head rested on her shoulder blade instead. He used his hand to cushion his cheek from the bone and Harmony gasped dramatically for breath.
After a minute of readjusting, they were both comfortable and Harmony opened her textbook. She could hear Sirius breathing in her ear and usually it would bug her, but she was just too worn out to even care. Hopefully she'd feel better in the morning, because as of right now the hangover was still prominent.
Harmony's eyes slipped over the words, barely taking anything in. She internally yelled at herself and started to read the paragraph over again, this time ensuring that she was actually absorbing the information printed on the page. After a little while, Harmony felt Sirius' hands slip under the t-shirt she was wearing. They rested on her sides and Sirius relaxed again, but Harmony was distracted.
"It's so hard to study with you." she groaned, letting her head flop on the book. Her thoughts started to turn to the Roberts family again.
"I'm sorry." he said, not sounding it. "I just like laying on you."
"I've noticed." Harmony replied. "Okay so here's what's going to go down. Either we quiz each other or go to bed."
Sirius rolled off Harmony, flopping down on his back. "Is that even a question?"
Harmony studied the canopy above her as she rolled over, too. Considering how much revising they had actually done - Harmony was quite proud of how focused she had been the week before the party - she figured a day without studying wouldn't hurt too much. "Fine. Go on and dim the fire then."
Sirius did as he was told, falling back on the mattress and then reaching over to put his wand on the night table. "What time is it?" he asked through the darkness.
"Like eight-thirty, probably." Harmony muttered.
"Wow we've only been up for like 6 and a half hours." Sirius said.
"I know. Gotta love firewhiskey." Harmony chuckled.
"And we've probably spent four and a half of those hours cuddling."
"I have no regrets." Harmony laughed, reaching her hand up to run through Sirius' hair.
He sighed slowly and Harmony glanced over at him. His eyes were closed, his lips parted slightly. She leaned over and pressed her lips to his once. Before he could kiss back, she pulled away. He smiled lazily, his eyes still shut. "Kiss me." he whined.
"If you insist." Harmony answered, leaning in. He met her half way, their lips connecting once again. Sirius' hands ran down Harmony's arms, then her sides, then up her back. Harmony took her mouth off of his, but she pulled his body closer to hers, hugging him.
Her shirt had rode up to her ribcage, and Sirius' warm hands were on either side of her, encasing her in an embrace that Harmony wanted to last forever. His face was resting in the crook of her neck, his lips on the skin there. He wasn't kissing her, though; his lips were still on the flushed skin below her jaw. It was quiet and Harmony forced her mind to focus on Sirius' slow breaths as their weekend drew to a close.
