Chapter 8 Serious matters

DISCLAIMER OF DOOOOOOOM I do not yet own egend of zelda, my plot has failed.

Darunia grinned at the boy "Hey you were in my P.E. class."

Link blinked at this "Mr Darunia?" His former P.E. teacher, he had quit a few days ago due to personal reasons, though he was still spotted around town.

Link saw the tattoos, it was a strange paw mark with three toes. He decided not to mention it. Link froze feeling the weight from his pocket no longer there and started Looking around frantically.

Darunia blinked seeing Links strange behavior and looked down seeing the pocket knife. He picked it up with a frown "Looking for this Link?" holding it between a large thumb and pointer finger.

Link snatched it up "Uhh hehe... thanks..." Now nervous since Darunia had seen the pocket knife.

Darunia crossed his arms "You seem like a good kid Link, you never got in trouble in my class, and now you are carrying weapons?" He was dissapointed in his former student.

Tetra had started to run after him, Link had forgotten his wristband at practice but froze seeing Darunia. She bolted behind a building, peeking around the corner.

"It's... self defense." Link said looking at him, but averting his eyes a bit. "Lots of gangs..."

Darunias frown lessened a bit "Yeah I can understand that." Giving him a huge pat on the back, it almost knocked link on his face. "Woops don't know my own strength!" Chuckling a bit.

Link rubbed his back, there was sure to be a bruise from such a hard hit, Darunias chuckling died down a bit. "Listen kid just be careful out there, gangs are dangerous. It's good to have something to defend yourself but only use it if you HAVE to, you got that?" Link nodded at what Darunia told him.

"Why a suit?" Link asked looking at his clothes. Darunia NEVER wore business clothes, at least not that anyone at the school had seen. Darunia grinned "I uhhhh got a job interview, on my way there and ooooh would you look at that, I should get going it's getting late. I don't want to miss the interview." He fixed the suit where it had crumpled a bit after Link running into him.

Link watched Darunia walk off quickly "Weird..." then heard footsteps behind him, Tetra running over.

"You left this at training." Handing him the wristband "Thanks Tetra..." Smiling at her and tinting a tiny shade of pink at the fact she had ran over to return it.

-~#$#~ TIME SKIP ~#$#~

Link sat on his bed that night thinking about everything that had happened so far. He knew it was a long shot that Aryll had been kidnapped by these people, but a long shot was better than no shot at all. He had picked a place for his tattoo finally, his palm. He had even bought gloves to hide it. They were fingerless brown leather gloves, like horse riding gloves.

He was nervous about the whole thing, he had been told the leader did the tattoo personally to make sure he knew who was in his gang and who wasn't. He knew every face that held one of his tattoos and therefore knew every man in his gang.

He looked at the palm he had chosen nervously "Guess this is it..." he could talk just fina if he was alone, it was his personality that stopped him from talking to most people.

Red and blue lights wizzed by through his window. He looked out to see what the commotion was and saw a few cop cars zoom on down the road. There weren't many cop cars called out here.

He put the gloves in his top drawer and lay down in bed, deciding to tell Ghirahim tomorrow what he had chosen. He was tired and fell asleep only minutes after laying down.

He woke up again to his blaring alarm, smashing it with his hand, but not breaking it. He got dressed wearing a pair of white jeans, brown leather boots, and a green hoody today. He pulled the leather gloves out and put them in his book bag.

He greeted Rusl looking normal that morning, up early enough to eat breakfast before heading to the bus stop.

It was cold that morning, unnaturally so. It was almost like an ill omen. It felt like the wind carried a mist of ice on its current as it blew past. The sky was grey and cloudy, somber.

Link got to the bus stop, it was strange Ghirahim wasn't following his every move like the past few days, but what was stranger was seeing Rutos expressionless face. Her face looked grave.

Link did not really like Ruto but he didn't hate her either. He decided to walk over "You look... serious..." He grunted out. Ruto turned to him, he never initiated a conversation with her it was always her to speak first "I look that bed eh?"

Ruto looked down sadly "My father died last night, he was stabbed in our home, my mom was shot, I'm lucky to be alive..." She said quietly, it was obvious in her voice she was on the verge of breaking down. "I was spending the night at a friends house last night so I didn't know until this morning..."

Link was shocked to hear this "So sorry..." He said to try and cheer her up, but it didn't work, her face staying the same somber frown. "I just... want to be left alone." Link nodded walking away, he understood.

Tetra walked up to the bus stop after the conversation and they headed to school as normal, only Ruto being much less talkative then normal.

When they arrived, Ghirahim stood near the entrance. Link sighed deciding to just get this over with now.

Link walked over and looked at Ghirahim "Tattoo." He said quietly. Ghirahim grinned "You know how this works by now sky child. If you want to talk to me you'd best talk normally." Getting a kick out of his misery.

Link frowned at him "Want the... tattoo on my... palm..." He choked out.

Ghirahim grinned wide "Then I'll take you to the boss tonight." Chuckling "The master has been waiting."

Link blinked at that, waiting for what?

Ruto was missing from her classes, at least the ones she shared with Link.

After a quiet school day Ghirahim grabbed him by the shoulder, holding a cellphone, bright white with red and yellow diamond shapes on its cover. "Wait here Link, I'll call him now."

He touched the screen of the phone a few times before holding it to his ear. After a few moment ghirahim spoke "Yes he is here... yes...no...yes...yes, yes sir he's picked where."
After a moment of silence from Ghirahim he spoke once more "Yes sir we are waiting right outside of the high school, want me to go to the meeting place now?" Another moment of silence, "Yes sir we'll be there in 5 minutes." He finally hung up the phone. Link had never heard him so polite and formal.

Ghirahim turned to him "Alright sky child follow me." Leading him down the sidewalk. They walked along that sidewalk in silence for a few blocks until there was a small alleyway. It was pretty dark and dank. Ghirahim led him down into the allyway "He will be here in about ten minutes." Ghirahim said with a knowing grin.

Link stood nervously, hearing other people in the ally "Wha..." Ghirahim saw this and chuckled "People use this ally for some... unsavory things, lets leave it at that shall we?"

Finally after about 15 minutes of waiting a black sedan pulled into the alleyway. Ghirahim opened the car door and slid into the passenger seat "You sit in the back sky child." Link got into the back seat, still not comfortable with any of this. Once he got the door closed the sedan pulled out of the alleyway and onto the road.

"Will it hurt?" Link asked, not knowing much about tattoos. Ghirahim looked back at him "No, not on the palm of your hand, mine did, and wonderfully so." Grinning wide. Link cringed in disgust at that and thought 'Note to self he is a masochist.'

The car had been driving for well over forty minutes before it pulled up in front of a large house, it seemed abandoned with graffiti sprayed on it, diamond shapes here and there. "This is the hideout and as much as I despise staying in such a rundown hovel I understand discretion is important." Link blinked nodding at that, that was pretty smart really. It wasn't that they didn't want to be found, it was that they seemed worse off then they were. Trickery seemed important to this gang.

Ghirahim brought him inside, the inside was much nicer then the outside. The entryway had a nice red carpet with a yellow-gold border that felt plush underfoot. nice end tables strewn down the entryway, against the walls with a nice lamp on each one for light. the plush red carpet and lamp tables ended in a circular room with a staircase leading to the second floor as well as 5 doors leading to different rooms each. The wood looked old, but not decrepit or rotting. It looked to be made of Birch. There were two sets of steps leading up, one on each side of the room winding up in a halff circle to an indoor balcony hall with three doors.

Link blinked at the impressive display "Wow..." Ghirahim noticed "You like it, wait until you see the dining hall, that is where my... OUR master awaits us." Leading him further into the house.

Ghirahim opened a set of double doors into a long dining room they called the dining hall, and he could see why. The room was rather long, almost as long as half of the entire house. Link turned his head left and right, taking it in. The table seemed to be made of the same Birch as the walls. The tablecloth a velvet red color and stretched across the entirety of the long table. There were about 40 chairs, though not all were at the long table, there were a few smaller tables here and there, for the lower members of the gang.

Ghirahim led him to the end of the room towards a man with dark skin, almost an ashen dark grey. His skin was rough looking, like sandpaper, but not quite that unpleasent. He had reddish orange eyes. Link figured they were contacts. He wore no shirt, he had a gash across his forehead, making the once dark skin appear almost white there from the scar. He wore black business pants and black business shoes. He was easily 3 feet taller than Link and his hair was a flowing and vivid red like fire.

He stood there as Link was led to him by Ghirahim "This is the boy you mentioned... he does not look like much." Looking down at the boy. He rose a brow "Hmmmm." Link didn't like how it felt like this man was peering into his very soul. "I am Demise, sit in that chair." Motioning to a chair pulled out at the table, there was a machine next to it with packaged needles and a strange gun looking device.

Link sat in the chair nervously as Ghirahim walked over and grabbed his arm, putting it on the arm of the chair palm up. He took out some rope from under the table and tied his arm down "Trust me you don't want your arm moving or it will get messed up." Link nodded all of this suddenness making him even more nervous. Demise sat next to him taking the gun looking device into his hand. He took a needle out of a clean package and inserted it into the end of the gun, as well as a package of black ink and inserting it into the gun as well. Ghirahim grinned "He's starting Sky child." There was no changing his mind after this.
