Hey! I'm back! I'm not dead, I swear. I feel like my intros keep repeating themselves in assuring you guys that I haven't dropped off the face of the earth. Okay, so I'm alive, I haven't forgotten MD. This chapter's kinda short, sorry.

Enjoy!

The days that passed were blissful and full of romantic nonsense. They spent most of their days kissing and just being close to each other.

Harry was living in a blissful world where the threat of Lord Voldemort simply didn't exist. All that existed was him and Anubis and their time together. He, quite frankly, liked this reality better than the one that awaited him outside the door.

Anubis broke their peaceful spell after a few days though. "Don't you have a quest that you're avoiding, Harry?"

Harry groaned and rolled his eyes. "Yes. I was doing a great job of avoiding it until you brought it up. Thanks."

Anubis looked at him with a serious expression. "Harry, there's a war going on. People are dying. You're the only one who can stop it and you're hiding away?"

"I'm tired of it Anubis. I'm tired of war. I'm tired of being the chosen one. I just want to be a normal guy for once."

Anubis smiled sadly at him. "But you're not normal. Ever since your birth you had an amazing future set before you. Your life will probably never be mundane."

"Why me though. Why not Neville? He could have just as easily been the chosen one."

"But he's not. You are. Stop avoiding it and go on your quest."

"I don't want to! I'm tired of being 'The Chosen One'. I just want to be Harry, the guy with glasses and hair that doesn't ever seem to do what it's supposed to." He knew he was being childish, but dammit, he'd been forced to grow up too fast. He wanted to be irresponsible for once.

"Harry, you are that."

"No, I'm not. I have to go out and save the bloody world because no one else can! Do you know what kind of pressure that is?"

"Yes, I do Harry." Anubis reached over and forced Harry to look at him. "If anyone in this universe knows what it's like to be forced to grow up before you're ready and then have a huge burden thrust upon you, it's me. I know. I know what you're going through."

"How did you get to become god of the dead?" Harry asked softly.

"My father was Ra, the sun god. He realized that the Egyptians did not have a proper way of ensuring that the dead reached the afterlife. He assigned that job to me when I was a young man. I had to teach them how to properly preserve the bodies, what charms they should use to protect the deceased, and then I had to guide the dead to the Underworld. I also was given the job of ensuring that only the purest of souls could enter. Way back, I actually ruled the afterlife, but that was taken over by Osiris. Which is fine by me, I had enough to worry about."

Harry looked down. "That is kind of rough, but not as bad as me."

"Do you want my pity, Harry?" Anubis asked calmly.

Harry looked up at him, confused. "No."

"Then stop fishing for it. I know things are tough for you, but the gods have decided that you can handle it. Your destiny is a great one Harry Potter."

"Great? It doesn't seem very great right now."

"Because you've got a bump in the road that you're going over. Once you crest over this hill it's smooth sailing to the bottom."

"Really?" he asked hopefully.

Anubis leaned over and kissed him softly. "Really."

Harry smiled at the deity and kissed him again. "Thanks for the pep talk." He sighed and pushed a hand through his hair. "I don't know where to begin my search for the horcruxes. I just know, sort of, what they are."

"Are they treasured items?"

"Yeah."

Anubis smirked at Harry. "I'm sure you'll find them. You seem to have a knack for finding valuable items."

"I didn't mean to find your amulet. Wadjet lead me to it."

"Well if it helps any, I'm glad you did find it." Anubis gave Harry a small smile that Harry thought looked almost shy. "Even though I may not act like it sometimes."

Harry smiled back and nodded his head. "You'll come with me, right? I don't want to be alone anymore."

"Of course I will. I wouldn't want to miss out on the adventure of a lifetime."

"This probably isn't your first adventure."

"No, it's not," Anubis agreed. "But it will probably be one of the best."

"Why?"

Anubis didn't respond, he just looked at Harry and smiled.

Harry felt a blush rising to his cheeks. "Oh..." he mumbled and he looked down at his hands.

Anubis chuckled and pulled Harry in for a hug and a quick kiss on his forehead. "You're adorable when you blush, you know that?"

Harry blushed harder at Anubis's words. "Stop," he groaned. "You're only making it worse." He squirmed half-heartedly to get out of Anubis's hold. The god wasn't giving in and only held onto the boy tighter.

"Rosy cheeks, uneven breathing, you're like a blushing virgin," Anubis teased.

Harry stiffened in his arms. Anubis leaned back and looked at his boyfriend (oh how he loved that thought). "Harry, what's wrong?"

"N-nothing," he stuttered. He squirmed and this time Anubis let him go.

"Harry, tell me what I said wrong. I don't want to upset you."

Harry's blush was still in place as he shook his head. "It's embarrassing."

"What is it?" Anubis asked softly.

"Iamavirgin," Harry spat out quickly.

"What?"

Harry gave Anubis his best pleading eyes. "Please don't make me repeat it."

"Well, I didn't hear what you were saying, so I'd like if you could repeat yourself."

"I'm a virgin. You probably don't want anything to do with me now because of that."

"Why would I not want anything to do with you?"

"Because, you're a centuries old god who's probably had more lovers than one can care to imagine. You probably don't want to deal with some inexperienced virgin."

"Harry, I'm a very possessive creature. While, it is true, I've had many lovers, I prefer those who will give themselves to me and me alone. You being a virgin only makes me like you more." Anubis paused, seeming to think a bit, before adding, "Not that we'll be having sex soon. We've only just begun the relationship and there's plenty of time for sex later."

Harry nodded hastily in agreement. "Yeah, no. No sex until I'm ready."

"Good, glad we agreed on that. Now, are you hungry? Because I am. There's a pub down the street that I wanted to try out." Anubis stood and offered his hand to Harry.

Harry stood and nodded his head. "Yeah, let's go."

I felt that they had to have some sort of talk as to their boundaries with this relationship at some point and….it just kinda happened. I don't know. Sometimes my fingers just go and I have no control over what they write.

Anywho, hope you enjoyed that. Next chapter will be awesome, and hopefully longer, I swear.
