Professor Slughorn's party was tonight and I decided to follow Malfoy around for the day before I would have to get ready. I had looked for him in the Room of Requirement but it turned up empty.

I pondered for a while and figured he could be researching to how to get death eathers into Hogwarts so I trekked towards the library. I soon spotted him with a mountain of books infront of him and just watched him from behind a bookcase. He had bags under his eyes, his skin was sickly pale and he had lost weight again. The nervousness was just radiating off of him and he kept gliding his hands through his hair in frustration. I felt bad for him. You can't choose in which family you're born after all.

I silently walked over to him and looked over his shoulder at the book. It was a book about fixing things and home spells. "Well that's boring isn't it?" I told him rudely and he turned around in surprise, his eyes wide in panick. "You know I thought someone like you would read something more... what's the word? Brooding? No. Entertaining? No. Help me out here Malfoy." I told him feigning to be in deep thought my finger on my lips and looking up.

"What do you want Aurora? I'm busy." he snapped at me. I plopped down onto the chair beside him and gave him a cheeky grin. "Aw come on Malfoy lighten up a little bit. It's Christmas eve. Joy to the world and all that crap. You seemed a bit lonely without your lackeys so I decided to keep you some company. So, how are you?" I asked him looking in his shocked eyes while supporting my head in my hands that leaned against the table.

"You're strange girl you know that?" he told me raising his eyebrow at me. I nodded hapily and just kept staring at him as he tried to ignore me.

As I just watched him go through several books I started humming the new song I would sing tonight as I was starting to get a little bored and tapping my finger on the table in the ritme.

"Could you stop that, please? I'm trying to concentrate." He pleaded after 5 minutes. "Nope." I popped the 'p' grinning at him as he rolled his eyes. "Look I really need to go through these and I really can't bring all of these to my common room, if I give some attention will you stop it?" he pleaded with me.

I pretended to think about it and then nodded vigorously. He gave a big sigh and closed the book. "Allright. I'm giving you attention. What do you want?" He asked annoyed while clasping his hand together over the book.

"How are you Draco, really?" He looked at me as if I just sprouted a second head but I just kept my face serious. "W-why are you asking me that? We're like mortal enemies or something like that. And seriously? Draco?" He asked me as he leaned back in his chair astonished.

"Mortal enemies, best friends, aquintances,.. who cares?! And yes I said Draco, if we're going to have a conversation I don't want to refer to you as Malfoy all the time. Might get comfortable with each other now no? And you've gotten awfully pale lately." I also leaned back in my chair putting all my weight on it so the chair was only on two legs and crossed my arms.

He just looked at me in silence and I just raised my eyebrow at his silence. "Not going to talk huh? Ok, then I'll do the talking. I'm doing good actually, I've been working out lately and my new song will be released today so I'm pretty content about that. My friends say I'm neglecting them but I've been way too busy with school, my career, working out and getting some extra tutoring. So yeah I'm a little beat and I'm not really in the mood to go to proffesor Slughorns party but I'm just dying to see Hermoine with Mclaggen. I'll probably laugh my ass off as he tries to kiss her and she runs away." I snickered at the image in my head.

"Mclaggen is an asshole." Draco gave his two cents.

"You talked! There you go. Now that wasn't that hard was it?" I beamed at him.

"I heard about your new song. It will probably be played so much that we'll get sick of it after two days." He muttered trying to be funny.

"Harrharr Draco very funny. You just can't over my awesomeness." I flipped my hair over my shoulder.

"Awesomeness? Where did you learn that? Is that even a word?" He looked at me in confusion. "If I use it, it exists." I told him cockily.

I yelped when I felt my chair move backwards but it abruptly stopped. I looked up and saw Draco with his wand out. "Did they never tell you your chair has four legs for a purpose?" I scoffed at him and straigtened the chair. "Was Draco-poo worried about me? Aawww. I'm so touched." I plinked an imaginary tear away.

Mrs Pins walked near our table and told us that if we weren't quiet she would kick us out. I apologized as Draco scowled at me.

"Now leave me alone Aurora." I returned his attention to the books. I huffed and stood up. "Fine, I'll go. And here I was thinking I could invite you for the party tonight." I walked away as I flipped his book closed.

Well that didn't help anything. He didn't tell me anything and I doubt it helped him trust me or start talking to me. How was I supposed to get a stubborn guy like Draco to talk to me? And Draco escorting me to the party? What was I thinking? Harry would blow up on me and Hermoine would think I hit my head. I hit my forehead with my palm repeatedly. Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid.

"Aurora!" I stopped and blick a few times. Was that...Draco? I turned around and sure enough Draco was taking big steps towards me with a big book underneath his arms.

"I don't know why you're talking to me but promise me it's not because Potter ask you to." He pointed at me as he had reached my spot. "I'm not talking to you cause Harry asked me." I put up two fingers in the air, like I was taking an oath. He shook his head and mummbled towards himself. I could just catch something about being insane and stupid Hufflepuf.

"You won't regret it! Now give me that book and tell me what you want to fix, I know almost all the spells in this one." I clapped on his shoulder and skipped towards the Room of Requirement with the book in my hands.

Draco didn't utter a word on what he was working on, but I explained all the spells I knew from this book and he dismissed them or learned them when he thought they were interesting.

"Why are you helping me?" Draco suddenly asked me in a quiet voice. I tilted my head to the side and gave him a smile. "Cause I want to. You're not such an evil guy as you portray yourself Draco. I think you're just boy lost in a complicated world. Yeah you were a jerk to me for more than 4 years but I could be a downright bitch to you as well. I just see you struggling this year and everybody needs someone by their side from time to time, right?" His gaze softened but he seems to be still wary of me.

I glanced at my watch and cursed. "Crap, sorry Draco I have to go get ready for the party. Slughorn wanted me to take care for the entertainment but I think Hermoine and Mclaggen will be entertainment enough for me." I chuckled while shrugging my purple hoodie back on.

I waved and stepped towards the big door. "What if I accept your invitation?"

I turned around and eyed him. "Sorry?" I had no clue what he was talking about. Was it about him talking to me or what?

"What if I accept your invitation to be your partner for the party? As.. friends?" He seemed unsure about his question.

"Then I would expect you at the 2nd floor at 7 o'clock." I winked at him and strolled out.
