Chapter Fourteen: Fire

DICLAIMER: I do not own Harry Potter or Vampire Diaries!

SHOUTOUTS/NOTES: Okay. Here goes nothing.

June had refused to be confined to the mansion and the Originals had agreed with that. The only conditions were that she took her wand and cellphone wherever she went, which June thought was acceptable. She would have done that anyways, in all honesty.

Now, though, she was hunting. It had been awhile since she had done this, Elijah had been teaching her on how to control the amount of blood she took and how to stop drinking before she killed the human. June wasn't sure she was ready, but her dad had put his foot down and said fresh blood was healthier for young vampires. June wondered if her dad had been reading parenting magazines. Come to think of it, were there vampire parenting magazines? Anyways, she had finally broken down and agreed yesterday that she would go and hunt the next day. That's how she ended up in a alleyway, looking for a drunkard or two to make a snack out of.

Spotting a man in his early thirties that smelled heavily of alcohol, she advanced towards him. They were alone and, as she got closer, the stench that emitted from him burned her nose.

"Who are ya? What's a pretty little thing like ya doing out here?" He slurred, swinging his beer bottle around and sloshing it out the top

June looked in his eyes, "Stay still. Don't make any noise."

He froze and his pupils widened, "I'll stay still. I won't make any noise."

She focused on his pulse beneath the skin in his neck and dived in. She drank hungrily, the warm liquid slipping down her throat and easing the hunger that a blood bag never quite could. A voice in the back of her head told her to stop, that she was going to kill the man, but she couldn't listen. All June focused on was her shrinking hunger. All of a sudden her eyes widened as she jerked back. She could feel the blood seared on her face. Looking down, her eyes widened as she saw the man's dead body, crumpled and lifeless as it lay there and stared at her with wide an accusing eyes.

"No..." She felt her stomach drop, what would Elijah say? He had trusted her to hunt by herself, he had believed in her and had confidence that she wouldn't go too far. June had let him down.

"Well, well, well! We didn't have to look very far, hmm?" She heard a taunting voice behind her

Spinning around, June's eyes widened in alarm when she saw Damon standing there with Elena behind him. Quickly, she moved to pull out her wand but was stopped by a hard kick to her back. She was sent tumbling forward, losing grip on her wand and falling to the ground. Dust flew up as June blearily sat up, everything looking slightly fuzzy. Things cleared up quickly and she bared her teeth, veins coming out underneath her now golden eyes. Stefan had thrown her wand aside and now blocked her only way of escape. Taking a deep breathe, she calmed herself and her appearance returned to normal.

"What are you all doing here?" She snapped

"Stopping you!" Elena looked her in the eyes, but flinched back when June's started to bleed golden again.

"Why? What have I done to you?"

"Klaus has tried to kill Elena." Stefan said from behind her

June tried to get in a position so she could keep her eyes on all three of them at the same time, "Yes my father has attempted her death, but have I?"

"You would if he asked!" Damon snarled

"No, I-"

"Besides!" Elena butted in, "You've killed people!"

"So has Damon!" June snapped, motioning to the blue eyed Salvatore then sending a glare at the other brother, "Stefan has as well! From what I heard he used to be a Ripper. How many lives has he taken?"

The alley felt like it was closing in on June as the evening sky faded. She didn't have her wand and she wasn't the most skilled Hybrid yet. The chill of the Alley felt like it was seeping into her skin as she faced off with the two vampires and the doppelgänger.

"Yes, but-" Elena struggled for words

"But they have never tried to kill you, am I right? Elena Gilbert, you are a coward! You fear what I will do, so you think you should stop me now, huh?"

"Enough talking!" Damon snapped and sped forward

June was ready when he reached her. Damon reached for her neck, trying to snap it, but June kicked him in the stomach and spun around behind him. She grabbed his arm and threw him into the wall. Damon was up quickly and charged at her, more cautiously this time. He grabbed a fist full of her dark hair and yanked it before trying to throw her to the ground. She caught herself last minute and managed to shove Damon away long enough to grab ahold of Stefan. The youngest Salvatore struggled but stopped as soon as he felt her teeth ready to pierce the skin of his neck.

"That was quick." June smirked when she saw Damon freeze and Elena's eyes widen in horror

"Let him go!" Damon growled

"Oh, so you know what one little bite from me will do to him? How it will kill him slowly and painfully? You know that only the only ones who can cure him are my father and I?" June ducked her head again, acting as though she were about to bite he captive

"No!" Elena yelled, trying to rush forward but being held back by Damon, "No! Let him go and we'll leave you alone!"

"Why, though?" June tilted her head, "You apparently have trouble choosing between the two brothers. I suppose I could help you out by eliminating one option."

"Let my brother go you psychotic bitch!" Damon glared

"Oh Damon Salvatore does care about his little brother? If I let him go, swear to me that you will not come after me or my family with that stake."

"We promise." Elena nodded, sharing a look with Damon

"Very well." June threw Stefan down

Elena ran towards the younger Salvatore as he struggled for air. June nodded to herself, happy she had resolved the situation, and turned around to walk away. She didn't get that far, however. Damon removed a spray bottle full of vervain laced water and rushed towards her retreating form at vampire speed. He grabbed June's shoulder to stop her and, as she turned around to grab Damon's head and snap his neck, her sprayed her right in the face.

White hot pain rippled through June's veins as she fell to the ground. Damon pulled out the White Oak Stake and was about to stab her with it when she slipped from his grasp. June's face was raw and red, the vervain burn hurting worse than anything she had ever felt, but she still stood tall. Rushing forward, her green eyes turning gold, June reached out a clawed hand and slashed Damon across the face. He was rocked back by the force of the scratch and, as the blood dripped from the gashed that spanned from the top of his forehead and through his right eye, he thrust his hand out blindly. June moved behind him and snapped his neck before throwing him back towards Elena and Stefan, who both watched in shock.

"Next time," June warned breathlessly, "I'll rip out his heart."

"Junie? Is that you?"

June halted her pained walk back to the Original's mansion. The vervain wounds were beginning to heal, but she still felt as though a semi trick had ran into her face. June turned and looked into dark eyes that were both worried and protective.

"Uncle Kol? What are you doing-"

"I just got back from the Mystic Grill. Rebekah and I got into a little spat while you were gone, so I went looking for a snack, but that's besides the point. What happened to you?"

"Team Doppelgänger got the best of me, I suppose." June's smile was weak

"They got you with vervain..." Kol growled as he picked up the poisonous scent

The sky was a dark blanket hanging over Mystic Falls by now. A few stars twinkled down, bright and yellow, oblivious to what was going on in the world below. The only light came from the street lamps, although neither vampire nor Hybrid needed it. Kol saw how bad the burns were, they must have hurt like a bitch, and quickly bit into his wrist. He placed it in front of June's mouth.

"Here, bottoms up."

The green eyes girl could feel the pain in her face ebbing away as she drank the blood. When it was completely gone, she pulled herself away and stopped drinking. It took a lot of effort but whenever she thought about that man's dead eyes...a chill went through her at the though of her uncle looking like that. The blood had helped a lot, though. The burns were gone and she didn't feel like she had just been put through the wringer anymore.

"So the Salvatores' and Elena did this to you?" The brunette man asked his niece, feeling anger boil up inside him

"Yeah." June nodded, feeling a vile feeling in her stomach like something was wrong

"Go back home and get some rest. Tell everyone I'll be there shortly." Kol turned and began to walk the opposite direction

"Uncle Kol!" June called toward his quickly retreating back

He paused when he heard her, "Yes, dear niece?"

"D-don't do anything stupid." June copied his smirk

"Of course not." Kol continued his fast paced walk

Kol thought of June as a little sister. She was his family, and no one hurt his family. He would get that White Oak Stake for Rebekah, June, Nik, and Elijah...he would do it for his family.

The door banged with a loud crash. Elena jumped up with Damon and Stefan as Bonnie braced herself for whatever was about to come through that door. However, when they saw Kol standing in the doorway, they all relaxed. Except Elena.

"You can't enter." Stefan said

"Oh really?" Kol smiled viciously, stepping over the door seal, "I've already been invited in."

"What? Elena!" Damon looked at the doppelgänger with wide eyes

"I-I didn't know he was a vampire then! I never thought..." She trailed off lamely

"Stefan!" Damon barked, "The stake!"

The green eyed Salvatore tossed the stake and his brother caught it with graceful ease. Bonnie looked between the deadly piece of wood and Kol, not sure what she was supposed to do. All of a sudden Damon charged Kol with the stake aiming for his heart, but all the Original did was brush him off like dust. Elena ran behind the island in the kitchen and stooped down, hiding from view as the fight continued. Stefan reached for Kol's arm and twisted it behind his back. The Original ripped his arm from the Salvatores' grasp and, with a cruel smirk, kicked him into the wall.

Kol smashed his foot down on a wooden chair and picked up one of the shards, speeding towards Stefan and stabbed him in the stomach and snapped his neck. It wouldn't kill him, but he'd be immobile for a little while. Damon growled and bared his fangs, charging towards Kol with intent to kill. The youngest Original brother was laughing at the weak attempt to stake him and stepped aside allowing Damon to charge past him. Damon, though, quickly recovered and wrapped his arm around Kol's neck, straining his muscles to snap the Originals neck. Kol was beginning to choke and jerked his arm back into Damon's gut, throwing him into the wall.

Still gripping the stake tightly, Damon snapped at Bonnie, "A little help, witch?"

Brown eyes widening, the Bennett looked at the Original, not sure what she could do to stop him. Unintentionally, her eyes locked with Kol and she hesitated, seeing the passion in his eyes. Passion that she was sure was for his family. He was the one that broke the eye contact.

"How dare you attack June? How dare you attack my niece? You tried to kill her with that damned stake-"

"Wait, what?" Bonnie interrupted, "You tried to kill June? What did she do-?"

"Bonnie, please!" Elena cried out, interrupting her friend, "She tried to kill me!"

The look on Kol's face when she said this was enough to stop an army, "She would never do such a thing! You attacked her when she went out to feed!"

"She killed a man!" Elena cried out, glancing over the island at Stefan who was still on the ground, unconscious.

"That's it." Kol muttered

He ran so fast that he practically flew at Damon and punched the oldest Salvatore in the face. The man's head snapped to the side, but not enough to break it. Grabbing another chair leg from the piece of demolished furniture, he held it up like a baseball bat and swung. Damon got thrown back into the stable, which broke apart in splintered pieces and stuck into the Salvatores' back.

"Bonnie! Please, you can do it!"

Making a quick decision, Bonnie stared down the Original vampire who gasped and dropped the wooden leg. His hand flew up to his head as he grimaced in pain. Damon quickly staggered up from the remains of the furniture and picked up the White Oak Stake, which had fallen beside him. He advanced on Kol quickly and slammed him into the wall. Bonnie stood to the side, still giving Kol an aneurism and partly hating herself for it as she knew what was about to happen. Damon tightened hi grip as Kol struggled weakly, the witches powers overwhelming him. With a hard shove Damon drove the stake right into the Originals' heart.

"AH!" Kol screamed as Damon quickly moved back

Starting at his chest, fire quickly spread all over his body and made him look like a human torch. He stumbled into the kitchen where Elena was. Damon pulled the doppelgänger out of the burning Originals' path. Slowly, he crumpled to the ground in front of the island but still lit up the dark house. The last thing Kol thought was...I failed. Everything was quiet.

"What have you done?" A broken whisper cut through the silence

Elena, Damon, and Bonnie all whirled around to see none other than Juniper Mikaelson standing there with hate and tears in her eyes. Bonnie looked at her and hated herself for what she had just done. Only knowing the girl for a short amount of time, she could tell the green eyed girl loved her family above all else. The Bennett tried to convey her remorse through eye contact, but June was focused of the uncles burning corpse.

"W-why?" Her voice broke

"Because your family is full of psychopaths?" Damon sneered

"Don't you DARE!" June screamed as her eyes flashed and her fangs came out, "I will KILL you! I swear to Merlin, the Spirits, and any god out there I will KILL YOU!"

"Bonnie, do something!" Elena cried as she helped Damon lift Stefan with difficulty

June stepped over the threshold and approached them dangerously, teeth bared and hate radiating off of her. Bonnie held up her hands and whispered a spell before quickly turning and motioning for the others to get out of the house. As they ran out, June attempted to follow them out, but was stopped as she tried to pass through the door. Bonnie still heard her broken cries as she ran away.

"I'm sorry..." The Bennett wasn't sure whether she was talking to June or Kol

Question of the Chapter: Kol...is dead? What did I just write? Anyways, do guys think he'll return? What do you think Kol and Rebekah fought about?

Holy shit, I can't believe I just killed Kol. Like, seriously, I cant believe it. I love his character so much and...WHAT DID I JUST DO?
